Finally gonna get that Kim Duthie tattoo 'ey?
So I just had a pow wow with a spider, no idea what one, it was dark and as if I had a torch out, in one had was a snip and in the other was a bag, I almost walked straight face first into it as it decided the best place for a web was between an open gate leading to my front yard at eye level.
Go figure.
So, I ask WTF it is doing there, gust of wind happens and spidy goes "weeeee" as it swings side by side since the web isn't complete, once it stops I tell it to move its fat arse as I need to snip flowers behind it FFS, it continues building said web as you know, it's a spider as if it comprehends English. In my infinite wisdom of I'm going to bed soon I am tired AF, I ditch the bag in a pocket, lookit some large weeds, snip them as "eh I kneed this coming in, SCREW YOU I HAVE A BLADE!" walk inside, grab a spray, walk back out with now snip + spray and promptly go to spray the spider.
Wind gust happens at this moment.
Wind gust is blowing to my direction.
Screw you wind gust.
So I got him and myself (I washed my arms) spidey goes to run back to the solid gate as opposed to the open one, he stops just before, I like to think questioning if he wants to be impaled on the ornate instances of said gate or not, goes back along its unfinished web it was suspending from, gets to the middle again and descends to the ground.
Spinning.
Always spinning.
Spinning in a circle on his web strand.
He meets the ground, I have overgrown things as stolen mower and I CBF paying for a gardener, spidey starts freaking TF out (success!) only I'm in sandals, it's dark outside, I'm the only warm blooded thing it could maybe see and run to, so I retreat to my front porch which is under light so I could hassan chop it should it bum rush me.
It didn't, I actually have NFI where it went off to die, birds can pick it up tomorrow for all I care, anyway, gave it a second, went to walk back out to the front to snip those flowers impeding a path (there were 4 with big arse purple flowers) and almost face to face with that web as a FU.
Thankfully I notice it since it bunched in an area all "WTF?" take my snip as it's longer handle and just wave it around, up, down, left, right, any other cardinal direction in 4D chess to annex a queen. Snip the flowers, they drop, "eh, I'll pick this up tomorrow, maybe..." walk back in, after washing arms, sat down here, saw a gnat on the wall, palm struck said gnat as cleaning is easier than catching it, washed hand after cleaning the wall, typed this.
Can I just say, I love nature, always full of surprises, and sorry unknown spider, you'd have been fine if you weren't stupid and went in literally any other direction. It's your own fault you got gassed and I demoed your home and hunting ground.
AI coding is bumping into limitations of the tech, it'll keep improving but slower than in the last few years.
This gen of AI will turn out to be excellent at some specific tasks but not good at every task, even every white-collar task. If you've tried using it in anger then you know that it can get to 70% really fast and then takes a lot of back and forward to get from 70% to 90%, and then is basically impossible to get to 100%.
But the same is basically true of lots of humans so.
Yep. They AI code and go over it for issues.... but they were doing that with Indian coders anyway.
Yeah if you have work which commodity offshore coders can do then AI can do that - less so with real coding work though.
Just had a mini thunderstorm.
Me at work, chatting to Bunnings about spare part things, and suddenly everything is dead, silence, just rain outside and thunder going on.
Moments pass.
Everything in this room resets.
So I check the fuse box and nothing tripped, grab a coat since you know, rain, do a quick walk around and don;t really see anything but I don't spend that much time out there.
At this point, my router has reset, so I now have internet again, that was 20mins ago....
I can only assume I got emp'd by a close strike since I have outlets outside with covers on them obviously and a fridge and things outside connected to them.
As an aside, surge protector in my room was on point, killed it before a surge took place and required a reset, so everything, even the google mini home was functional still. I told it to do better and warn me next time on my way out.
Back to work I go...
Why is it viable to get people in from overseas but not work with them while they live overseas?
Surely its still a matter of identifying the right people and working with them effectively.
Timezones and communication. Usually it's not as simple as just saying "now do this", in any given day there's a bunch of back and forward about what needs to be done and how.
And also accountability. If people are in the office with you then at least you can see that they're working. We've all heard the horror stories of hiring someone overseas and it turns out they have at least one other job at the same time, and they're just doing enough to scrape by in each of them.
You should write horror dude

But there's a smell.... a strange smell....it won't dissipate.
I continue browsing amazon for funny hats but a nagging feeling won't leave me alone. I go back to the fuse box only this time something is different. EVERYTHING HAS TRIPPED YET THE POWER REMAINS ON ...OMFG. The smell is now burning my nostrils and strangely, my nipples. I turn away from the fuse box and f*ck me dead I'm surrounded by monsters. Not friendly monsters...no... we're talking the kind of monsters that would question josh battle's manhood for leaving the Saints. I frantically feel for my sword but alas, I left it leaning against the dunny (long story) just a short while ago.
to be continued......
