Coaching the Glenorchy Magpies next year and hopefully beyond. In great compnay with Mitch Thorp of all 22(23?) who will coach the South Launceston team...what a great league Tassie has...

Wait- Mitch Thorp coaching??

Isn't he the world's biggest tool? How would he ever gather any respect from the playing group?

Freo just de-listed Casey Sibasado.....always rated him highly as a junior - amazing skills, although a little erratic.

Worth a rookie spot at the least I reckon

No thanks on Sibasado, but I'd be very keen on having a decent look at Bollenhagen. He was delisted after 2 years and was more than reasonable in his first year. Had a lot of injuries and form worries this year, and reading the Freo board there may be questions on his attitude, but I'd at least give him a call. Smooth mover with an accurate kick, they don't come along every day.

Heard on Demonland that Travis Tuck is training with us on the recommendation of our new assistant coach Paul Satterley who was his coach at boxhill (i think) last season. Has the scope to be an AFL player, had issues with depression which pushed him into the drugs i believe and is making a recovery.

I like the thought, he came fourth in the J.J. Liston Trophy this season so is one of the premier midfielders the VFL has alot to offer and is still very young.

Anyone else happy with this

I reckon he's worth drafting as a rookie pick.

I count eight players (Valenti 25, Bate 15, Jolley 13, McKenzie 12, Richardson 12, Minson 12, Bentick 11 and Cain 11) ahead of him and three players (Stephenson, Iacobucci and Goodes) equal with him on 10 votes.

Am I looking at the right place?

I didnt research it, read it in another thread.... could easily be wrong

Kelly O'Donnell appointed head of Pro-Scouting...

A role which will look into rejects from other lists and mature age players.

The continuum to becoming one the biggest football departments is on-going.

Excellent. I raised this on Demonland a few years ago, and was shouted down by most.

There's a philosophy amongst most recruiting managers of choosing kids ahead of mature age players, because there is a fixation with "upside" (refer Cale Morton). One club that has bucked the trend is Hawthorn. They've used early draft picks on VFL players (Mitchell with a 2 round pick, and Isaac Smith 1st pick last year).

Supporters accept that players don't mature until 4-5 years into the system, so it's highly logical that there will be late maturers in the state comps that are more capable than some on AFL lists.

Melbourne were the front runners with the use of the rookie list. Let's hope we're the same with the mature aged players.

He didnt do anything crazy from memory - just addicted to hard drugs?

If he can keep himself clean then Im all for it.. just keep Colin Sylvia away from him.

Rick Ladson if available in the rookie draft. (I can't see him making it this far.)

I'm all for bringing in quality people from quality clubs. We attempted it this year with Robbie Campbell. He was a fringe player in a side that missed the GF by a whisker, and would bring leadership and a hard edge to our club. Al Clarkson was known to value his work ethic.
