Hi all.

Welcome to the Season 38 Mobbenfuhrer Medal count to determine the SFA's best and fairest play as adjudged by the Qooty sim.

The Mobbs Medal is awarded to the best and most consistent player. Each game, the sim randomly generates text commentary, stats as well as the best 3 players for each game. These votes are collected by the Simmers and sent privately to the Admin to be recorded.

Tonight's program will be as follows:

  • Admin introduction
  • EKA Medal Presentation (Award for most Outstanding Rookie as decided by the committee)
  • Frankston Rover Award Presentation (Award for best contribution as awarded by the Administrator)
  • SFACA MVP Presentation (Award for best sim performer decided by the Administrator)
  • Fred Medal Presentation (Award for Leading Goal Kicker)
  • Mobbs Medal Winner Presentation
The official count will commence somewhere between 7.45-8pm tonight, please make sure you join us for what will hopefully be a smooth moving, fun and in no way error filled evening.

Cheers

Good evening all and welcome to the Season 38 Mobbenfuhrer Medal, the golden jewel in awards week where we find out the player of players as voted by the same computer program that gives half of us immense pain every week (and season, hi Warriors and Demons players here tonight). I hoped to have an opening number from Tigerturbulance but he was suddenly away for a while so that won’t happen.

Before we kick off the count, I must first give my most profound acknowledgement and thanks to those that have helped make this (and the All-SFA/HOF presentation on Wednesday evening) a reality. I’m not going to lie I thought this would be a much easier process but the one thing I know about this community and have known for many years is there is so much passion to pull these things off. Help is around the corner (and oh boy did I ask for some help on some deadass dumb shit this last few weeks). Firstly to TheInjuryFactory, I roped you into this before even deciding 100% to apply for this admin role and you may well think your work with the graphics and beyond is easy enough but I would be presenting nothing nice without your help. To the committee, I put you guys under a little more pressure perhaps to be contributive but I am wildly impressed and thankful for the help and support heading into awards season – we are all responsible for this place so I appreciate the volunteers (and forced ones) that dipped in, in particular for our round write ups. To the sim team - Dingster, serial_thrilla and Cadsky for your work week to week and to Wosh, MWPP, philreich and FootyGuy13 for making sure this stuff gets to the masses. To ClarkeM and Elton Johns Wig for the work put in prior to ensure an easy transition. To Hate and Kennedy Parker for humouring me and helping get this stat collation in order. If I have forgotten anybody I apologise.

Finally, just a little housekeeping at a moderator level… very few here would have much to do with the board moderators (which is a great thing, trust me) but many of us have had plenty to do with Zevon as a poster. We all know he is a gem and has been a great mod here but unfortunately with his decision to leave/take a break from the Sweet FA it also means he is bringing his time as a mod to a close as well. I would like to thank him for all of his work maintaining order here and I think we all hope your absence is short. At that, one out means one in and I’d like to welcome Gralin to the mod team. Gralin is a hugely experienced moderator and beyond across BigFooty and he has also jumped in head first to this world, we are stronger again for having. On behalf of the mod team (well, manangatang) I’d like to say farewell Zev, and it ain’t all bad Gralin.

With that said, on with the show.

I am most looking forward to the "admin introduction" segment. There's bound to be a few good laughs in there.

Did my script editors do the job? I just read the words.

Falconista slighted once again. F. 😢

Is it possible to get a shortlist for contenders so we know how much we can allow ourselves to drink during the evening...

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who keeps this place ticking over season after season after season, some in big ways, some in small ways, some in quiet unappreciated ways. This community just wouldn’t exist without the volunteers 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Round 1 – Tarkyn24

West Coast Wonders (11.7.73) def by Mount Buller Demons (17.9.111)

The Dees and Wonders kicked off Season 38 with another entry to a storied rivalry, however it was one way traffic from the start in the rain as the Demons pulled away to an emphatic 56 point half time lead. The Demons were best served by sausageroll , who made the most of his chances with five goals, whilst Gralin impressed on a wing with 24 touches. Journeyman akkaps impressed on a dog day for his new club with a four goal haul.

Votes

3 Scythe94 2 Marlowe 1 Pamcake1

Gold City Royals (12.19.91) def by Roys FFC (16.10.106)

In the closest of Round 1 matches, the Royals were left to rue their inaccuracy as the Roys closed out a fifteen point victory on a dry but cloudy day. It was a see-sawing first half as the Royals peppered the goals, with the advantage under a goal at each of the first two breaks. In the third, the Roys roared to life, with a 5.5 to 2.2 advantage that ultimately determined the match. 3KZ is Football had the ball on a string, with 32 touches and two goals, whilst Phar Ace and HinkleysHeroes were also prolific. Brenton Davy continued on from his Fred winning form of the previous season, winning plenty of chances but unfortunately he didn’t have his kicking boots on, ending the day with 5.5.

3 Zevon 2 royboy2 1 Phar Ace

Fighting Furies (28.7.175) def East Side Hawks (22.12.144)

In what was an exceptionally high scoring match, the Hawks skipped out to a five goal quarter time lead and looked to be cruising. However, from that point on it was all the Furies, who themselves kicked ten goals to four in a frenetic third term, on their way to eighteen for the half. Orange crush had one of the most dominant debuts in SFA history, with 22 disposals, 11 marks and 6 goals, whilst ShaunDuggan opened his account with 9 goals from full forward and NaturalDisaster and omgfridge filled their boots with 34 disposals and 2 goals apiece. For the Hawks, TY24 impressed through the midfield with 27 touches and 4.3, while Itsmyshow also kicked four from centre half forward.

3 ShaunDuggan 2 TY24 1 Orange crush

Dragons FFC (18.8.116) def Las Vegas Bears (9.2.56)

In another match-up that remained super competitive for a half before being broken open in the third, the Bears posted a flawless 7 goals in the first half to lead by a point at the first break. From that point on, it was all one way traffic as the Dragons routed their opponents through the second half, keeping the hapless Bears to two goals whilst scoring 12 themselves. Bonz opened his account with five goals and Pie 4 Life put in an immense performance as a defensive mid with nine tackles. The Bears had few winners on the day.

3 Pie 4 Life 2 Bonz 1 Tandy

Gumbies FFC (12.14.86) def Baghdad Bombers (6.5.41)

It was all one way traffic in the fifth match of Round 1, with the Gumbies leading from the outset as the Bombers failed to even post the Gumbies half time score in a full game. GWS Goose with 4.3 came within fourteen points of matching the Bombers himself, whilst bone2468 will likely take home the coveted three votes with a 21 disposal, two goal performance. Jeremias and PaPaPete went statless, the latter having a torrid first career outing for the Bombers.

3 snozulu 2 beez 1 MayTheNorthBeWithU

Sim City Swamprats (15.5.95) def by Coney Island Warriors (18.13.121)

Yet another match that ran right to half time before the dominant side emerged, the two sides could not be split to the halfway point. damicky toiled hard in the ruck with 24 touches, 8 tackles and a goal whilst GotTheGoodes contributed 34 and 1 himself. For the Warriors, it was an even team performance, with Freofalcon probably their best with 28 touches, 7 tackles and 2.2

3 philreich 2 Freofalcon 1 damicky
