Love how Mark Doran has the quiz for the kids only.......my god, these kids are only 8 9 + 10....they sure do know their sport, and they sound so cute......Credit to Mark D. on the way he speaks with the kids, he has a really kind manner with them.....I believe in giving credit where due....
he might like kids, because adult listerners dont like him.

may need a thread on its own!

patrick smith labels craig tiley goose of the week

Quelle surprise. What odds on him making Tiley his new "target", like he's done with Ben Cousins and Dick Pratt. And probably worse because there'd be less people agreeing with him, therefore he'd press his point harder. The man's a moron, and an Essendon supporter to boot.

(Apologies to all decent Essendon supporters) :thumbsu:

None taken - Still haven't forgiven the a**wipe for trying to convince everybody that there was a huge group of rebel Essendon supporters out there who wanted to overthrow the Board.
Single-handedly created the issue all on his own and perpetuated it for weeks.

Surprise, surprise when push came to shove there was no support at all.

Didn't hear a peep from him after that even though I'm sure he owes quite a number of senior Essendon officials apologies.

Sorry to go off topic but he is an arrogant pig. I can accept arrogance when people are right but he gets things wrong far too often for mine.

I'd like to express my discontent at the standard of All Night Sport in the past week or so.

It's been anything but sport at the top of the show when most people are tuning in and want to talk about what's happened during the day.

The listeners get very little chance to speak on the events of the day except for some sections of the Run Home. Finey usually steers the talkback onto a certain topic or something relevant to a guest he might have in the studio, which I don't object to.

Alot can happen between the Run Home and All Night Sport which the listeners can talk about, but don't really get the opportunity until after midnight.

The talk last night turned to your favourite pizza shop. Whilst this might be a good topic at the bar or over dinner, wasting two or more hours on it on radio was excessive.

The presenter, Mark Franklin, might defend himself with the hundreds of SMS's and a few hours worth of callers they received to say the topic was popular, but his show ignored sport bar for a few two minute updates.

It looks as though he's turned the show into your own personal play thing, by taking the bar talk to the airwaves.

Listen for yourselves after midnight and their non-sports related topic which no doubt will be as popular as last night, but with little or no relevance to sport.

Hard to believe that Brett Phillips would have given this the tick of approval.

What time tomorrow morning will we be able to talk about the day's play in the Test match? When can we discuss the finals of the tennis?

Nothing before 3am, if this morning was anything to go by.

It's Melbourne's home of sport, not Melbourne's home of blondes, brunettes or redheads.

Lift your game !

What happened this time? I turned off after a bit to do some work.

On the quiz, the question was to name the past three number one draft picks. Obviously all Carlton players. The bonus question was meant to be an easy one "Where did Carlton finish in those years". Of course the obvious answer would be to say 16th, 16th and 16th - and that's what the girl answered - and it was paid correct, even though they finished 15th last year.

After I corrected him on the sms, he admitted he had made a mistake and then said "they got the number one pick for the new rule of winning under 5.5 games over two years," even though the rule is simply - PRIORITY PICK AWARDED FOR A TEAM WHO FAILS TO WIN MORE THAN FOUR GAMES IN CONSECUTIVE YEARS

I sent him a message telling him he is lucky to still have a job at SEN, and obviously he didn't read that message out, but I could tell by the sudden pause in his voice and change of tone that he was hurting bad and probably crying on the inside.

That is really poor. He would've had the answers to the quiz infront of him as well and still stuffed it up.

If he told the kid that she was close and paid it then fair enough cos they were kids so have to be more lenient.

But that's probably why he works so well with the kids with the quiz, he knows just as much as them.

Still think the classic Doran was asking Matt Gyer what the in-goal area is.

I was told the same thing by someone close to Harford that Harf was going to take over the hosting of good oil and someone else was going to be his co host.
I was also told that Doran was to be sacked but one member of the mgt wanted him to go and another wanted him to have one last chance.
In the end he has survived the bullet for now but he is a bit like how Denis Pagan at Carlton was with everyone wanting to get rid of him and him knowing so but standing his ground .

Also Francis Leach hosting by himself while OX is away
Francis happy for more than one to fill in when he is away but wanting to do the run home by himself without any co host when OX is away.

Bit of goss for you there

Francis wanting to do the run home by himself
More of the employees telling the employers what they want to do
What does this Johnston do is he just an imaginary token and a figment of our imagination.
Cant be of any significance the way everyone seems to do what they want to at SEN

Didnt you read here that they closed for business the other night when the Hewitt match was being played
If they are not serious about doing that tennis match overnight why would you think they are serious about any sport overnight anyway.
Maybe the program is sponsored by Pizza Hut now

LOL, I'm not the biggest ruby fan, but would I be correct in saying the in-goal area is when the non-offending (or non-attacking) team has the ball in their goal area (between the try line and the line after that (out-of-bounds line)? If the attacking team manages to make the non-attacking team ground the ball in their try-zone area then play restarts from 22 metres or something like that yeah?

It would be embarrassing if I'm wrong. Hopefully I'm at least half right.

You can forgive me for being a Victorian if I'm completely wrong.

And maybe Doran is the same as you, wanting to know what the in-goal area is.......after all he is a Victorian too......I dont know, nearly bet most people here dont either.....Your posts, you guys, is starting to look like a vendetta against Doran.......getting awfully personal and nasty......I have said before, I dont mind his show at all.....also accept that some of you dont, fair enough......but guys ease up with the personal insults, he (no-one) doesn't deserve that.....While I feel SEN lately has failed us on a number fronts, I also believe we are extremely lucky to have it, faults and all......

This is the Unprofessionalism I was talking about....

The thing is, Doran used to interview someone from the Storm every week, and he didn't just know which area the in-goal is, he didn't know it was an area.

I think you are to have any credibility when talking about that sport, you'd know what the in-goal is. Its like someone who doesn't know what the centre square is, interviewing an AFL footballer in a serious manner about their team.

I didn't hear the interview, so excuse me if I'm talking out of my arse, but was Mark Doran simplyasking things on behalf of his listeners. I gather that Storm fans, and rugby fans in general, would know what was being discussed, but what about the average dumbarse punter like meself?

I mentioned it on here in the old SEN Thread and I just checked and he actually asked "What does in-goal mean?" So he didn't even know it was an area.

Speaking of poor research, did anyone else hear Andy Maher interviewing Fev this morning? He started with this whole speil about how good it is that you've been voted back into the leadership group and you've been able to re-establish the respect of your teammates etc. Fev replied by saying that he's actually been in the leadership group for 4 years and had never been dropped from it.

Not bad from a passionate Carlton man. He kinda had to wing the rest of the interview cause it sounded like he had planned to talk about that the whole interview.
