Bit of luck in the end from some poor keeping. Same old story, dominate much of the play but failed to capitalise. Until we get a clinical striker, then we will be frustrating to watch.

That said, there were some positives to be had. Ryan, whilst not having to do too much, pulled off a ripping save. Mabil provides a spark off the bench and should be in the Asian Cup. Risdon also very good and I liked what Boyle had to offer too.

Boyle was very good coming on.

He runs at defenders, he will carve up some of the lesser Asian nations.

Mabil and Boyle should be our starting wingers.

Good performance overall imo, Still I would like the defense to be a little more compact and patient. Our attacking third is good but we just need to stop taking that extra step over and run and trust their instincts, that's where Ange was good as a manager. Don't mind the style Arnie is implementing, the ball is being played on the ground a lot which is good and it takes advantage of our width with the abundant of good wingers we have. Hopefully we score a few goals against Lebanon on Tuesday night.

We at least need a striker who offers something. Nabbout is good at chasing people around, McLaren seems invisible whenever he plays for the socceroos and Juric just isn't very good. May as well give Leckie a go at it tbh, at least he could worry defenders with his pace and power even if he's not the most prolific scorer.

Mabil should be starting in front of Kruse. Even Boyle showed enough when he came on.

Risdon excellent at RB. Overall couldn’t complain with the way we played, so far it’s been much better than Arnie v1 in 2007.

Already been stated but not having a natural finisher could cost us the Asian Cup.

Yet Goodwin can only be a train-on player. The coaches clearly see something in Kruse that we don't or else he wouldn't be starting matches. It's not like he's the best option available either given Goodwin is far superior.
So is Mabil

Where would you play Leckie? Talk was he was happy to play as a striker. But it doesn't seem a natural fit. We desperately lack a finisher.

We are so shit right now.

We don't deserve to play at the world cup.

Didn't even get Irvine on the field. Disgraceful.

I thought we played well. Created 20 shots on goal for the game against a good opponent. But our ability to finish is just woeful right now.

Just get Kruse out please, what on earth do coaches see in him ?? Thought Boyle and Mabil were great coming off the bench.

Did his hammie then too another 20 minutes of game time before they actually subbed him out. Strange.

He was a pretty handy player once but that was back in 2014-15. The only explanation I can think of is that the coaches are hoping he'll regain that form but that's just not going to happen.

Here is my take on the players and game as a whole.
I thought the system looked good and the players pressed really well without reward. It's clear outside of the goalkeeper we don't have any world class players so playing this style will look nice but will probably lead to us conceding goals against sides who can counter as our midfield isn't good enough to not turn it over.
It doesn't matter what system we play in the end, the players are as bad as I've ever seen an Australian side and doesn't matter how we play we won't score goals unless they are clear cut chances.

Ryan- Class save from the free kick and couldn't do much about the goal. You feel safe with him in goal. His size does worry me as he has no command of his area and our CBs are tiny so sides might exploit that.

Risdon- looked a level above alot of his team mates with his athleticism and his confidence to take on a man. Don't know how he will go against good sides on the counter when they use the space behind him but was Motm for mine, has good vision for a RB.

Milligan- assured as a ball playing CB. Ultimately gonna be too slow for this high line if we keep it but probably has a place as a back up to Mooy.

Sainsbury- weird game, showed some brilliant anticipation and some beautiful passes but then would allow runs behind him and turn it over in transition. His best was an 8 but worst was a 4 while Milligan was a 6 the whole time.

Behich much the same as Risdon with no real support on the left hand side or option to pass too.

Mooy was disappointing I thought, alot of useless passes sideways and backwards and seemed happy to leave the CBs to play the riskier balls threw the middle. He needs to impose himself more and play more often into the final 3rd.

Luongo was terrible. No influence no real want or desire to get on the ball and no dare with his passes. Needs to get his foot on the ball more.

Leckie is a good player. Very direct, quick feet and wants to attack. Very good at getting a yard or 2 but often ends up isolated as our striker and other winger have no idea about positioning.

Rogic is a fascinating player, he has these moments of brilliance with lovely footwork and an ability to create space for a shot and then he can let himself down with a poor second touch or shot. He also can go long periods of time without getting a touch. My instinct tells me his fitness is poor and that's why he is so inconsistent during games. Probably the most talented player we have all being said but at his age he needs to progress better than he has.

Kruse is so bad right now. The amount of times the ball was played too him and because he has no confidence or left foot he turned slowed up and played it backwards killing any momentum we had on the move. The opposite of Leckie.
He doesn't get high up the pitch and he doesn't involve in link ups. Needs to be dropped for Mabil

Maclaren had 5 passes in 70 mins. We basically use Rogic as a hold up player who then plays in the wings or full backs so our striker is almost redundant. I wonder if we should ditch the striker and play a false 9 Rogic and get another midfielder in there to help with build up and protecting the counter.

Mabil was lively when he came on, it was against a tired defence but he played with confidence

Boyle was the same. I'd like to see one or the other start the next game
