Knight of the Square Table
Hello again, Sainters!
There has been a fair bit of playful jousting recently between a few Saints posters, myself included, that sometimes causes runctions amongst some of our more earnest posters on the St Kilda board. With that in mind, I thought it might be a great time to carve out a special space for those of us who have a yearn to engage other posters in some light hearted banter.
I know this isn't for everyone. But I would like to stress that everyone is welcome. Nothing herein should be taken seriously, in fact I think a pinch of dippy preposterousness should be considered an essential charater trait if you are going to thrive here.
A fair few posters are currently, or have been in years past, engaged in the Sweet FA and have been able to cultivate a razor sharp wit, and specialised shoop skills, that don't quite lend themselves to the more traditional football conversations that occur on BigFooty. And there are many, many others who have never been to the SFA but who brandish a tremendous weapon in the way they wield their words. To these posters I say, 'HAVE AT YE'.
I actually thought a safe space for ongoing banter might be a FUN and LIGHTHEARTED way to express ourselves without burdening others who may only be interested in a more thoughtful conversation about Saints Footy. It would be a great way for us to fertilize the seeds of exuberant comedy that we see sprinkled through several threads periodically. It would also be a great training ground for future FUN and LIGHTHEARTED banter against opposition clubs.
I would like to suggest that we call this nerve centre 'THE SQUARE TABLE'. And furthermore the I would like to suggest that everybody who dips their posting toes into this fellowship of Saints fans be considered a St Kilda KNIGHT of 'The Square Table'. To that end I have created a graphic that should be a fun way to represent ourselves. Maybe George might even be able to have a special badge made up for those who wish to have it.
Anyway, I want to re-emphasize that this probably isn't for everyone, but everyone is welcome. The concept I am aiming to create may not even get off the ground, but it just might and it might offer some sweet respite to the more traditional poster. It may need further organization but I say one step at a time Sainters.
I look forward to a meeting of minds with those who would dare enter.
