Analysis The Stats and nothing but the Stats

Have been starting to come around to the club’s “3 tall forwards” strategy… and this stat which was highlighted on 360 certainly reinforces why Horse and his staff are so bullish on it.
Unlike previous years with Buddy, it was mentioned (by Lyon I think) that “teams just don’t know where the ball is going to?”, hence we are now a very difficult team to defend against 👍😍

PS. I also like how if 1 or 2 of the talls are having a quieter game, another one steps up and has a big game (e.g., Amartey against the Cats).

caesar88 thanks for your outstanding work analysing the games and posting the data about first touches, especially that last one.

FWIW, I support you to discontinue the team stats and instead focus on the individuals which are more diverse and illuminating. I imagine it's a fair bit of work to compile your tables and now that you've done it, it seems like it may not be worth the effort to continue all of it. Of course we wouldn't know that if you hadn't done it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

We're also not the only team who runs 3 talls.

Carlton go with Curnow, McKay and TDK
Giants: Hogan, Riccardi, Cadman

I'm sure there are others but I don't understand the focus on us so much

Our top 8 scorers: Amartey, Hayward, McDonald, McLean, Papley, Warner, Heeney and Gulden outscore like 6 sides on average as they combine for 80 points or so a night
Yeah, 12.3 goals a game from them alone is kinda nuts. That alone beats: Brisbane, Adelaide, Essendon, Freo, Hawks, Melbourne, Saints, North, Eagles and Richmond.

Would sit 9th for average goals a game
