Analysis The Stats and nothing but the Stats

Perhaps we should look at it like the draft and change the scale. Apply a discount. Votes from 22 to 0. That would test things.
Well, at the risk of sounding like an old man yelling at clouds, if it were up to me, I'd do away with all individual awards and let players reputations stand or fall as they may.

Swans have six players in the top five players of their age brackets, according to Champion Data

22 - Errol Gulden (2nd)
23 - Chad Warner (5th)
24 - Nick Blakey (2nd), James Rowbottom (5th)
28 - Isaac Heeney (1st)
30 - Brodie Grundy (5th)
Two months later we still have the same six in the elite category for their ages:

22 - Gulden (1st)
23 - Warner (4th)
24 - Blakey (4th), Rowbottom (5th)
28 - Heeney (1st)
30 - Grundy (5th)

Consistency!

Our midfield core! Plus the Lizard. That really is something. To think that the first 4 probably haven't hit their peak yet. 😱😱😱

Last night's first possession numbers.

A few interesting quirks stood out to me.

Warner had his best game for the year from a first possession perspective, despite the tag from Bedford. To my eye it looked like he was deliberately trying to go for the ball drop, where he usually does the opposite and hangs back to try and get the receive. Perhaps this was a tactic we worked on to try and put Bedford on the back-foot straight away and really test his tag. And it would've worked, except Warner's ball use was ****ing horrible LOL.

Grundy also had an even share of his first use between the centre bounces and stoppages, whereas usually he's much more prolific in the latter. Perhaps because it was a wet weather game he treated centre bounces - where he tends to prefer tapping it down as opposed to grabbing it out - the same as he does stoppages and was purely interested in just wrestling the ball forward.

That 'Premiership Metrics' chart above should really settle your nerves, you can't maintain that level without continuing to improve...
