Re: Stuart Dew

if he's fit and firing, i'd have him in my 22 every day of the week

Where would you have him in your team? Up forward yeah?

His role is easily taken at our club. Where would you see him in our team line up, and playing what role?

Because I cant fit him in any where, and the guys he is better then, he cant play their position.

Re: Stuart Dew

Xav already has his name on that spot....and rightly so.

While Ellis has played mainly in defence for the Hawks, he harbours ambitions of securing a midfield role for the club.
"I had a chat with Clarko (coach Alastair Clarkson) one on one and he said that next year he's going to give me a lot of opportunities in the midfield.
"I'm going to make errors but that's the only way to improve by playing in the midfield and learning as quickly as possible."

So there is still a spot for Stewy :thumbsu:

Re: Stuart Dew

The X will play at HBF all 08. I cant see him being thrown in before Birch in the midfield. Rather see the big man get a crack on the wing before X and I love X, but Birch is just ready to have a go.

I cant see Dew doing any rebounding work, I cant find a spot for him anywhere. No chance up forward, and in defence will be very hard.

No no no no no, wrong way around Roughie!
Ellis is much more of a midfielder than Birchall! Xavier was drafted as a future midfielder (on the wing) and Grant will always be in the back half.

Re: Stuart Dew

I'm not having a go here, this is a genuine question. I live in Adelaide, and I'm hearing no talk about him re-joining the Power or possibly going to the Crows. Why would that be?

Because he decided to retire at 26 at the end of 2005, got fatter than he was when playing, and is roughly the size of a small African country at the moment. The game was passing him by then, it's miles ahead of him now.

I know what you mean mate, but can you see Xavier thrusted into a midfield spot in 08? I personally cant, he wasnt that impressive at HBF. I would love to see Birch have a crack on a wing. Xavier will get his turn for the midfield it just wont be in 08.

But if X wasn't impressive at HBF and Birch is, then why would you take B away from the back and leave X there??

By no means would Birch be a constant fixture on the Wing but he would certaintly get the oppurtunities there. X has huge leaps to improve and the coaching staff are confident in him. Throw in that we can still have Lado on HBF, or even Hodge or Changa, it shows we have good replacements to put there while we give the Birch a crack.

Maybe its more of a pipe dream for me to see Birch play an Andrew Embley role on the Wing

Re: Stuart Dew

I would have thought that give Birchall a few good pre-seasons and he could be a KPP.

Either way, Dew could be very good for us, can play as a crumbing player, and could be a big factor in helping out buddies box. Could be the hit-up man from HF, and with his penetration with his kicking he could really provide a dangerous option, either kicking long or hitting up players on the lead.

Just a shame he is very fat at the minute.

Re: Stuart Dew

Training at the moment, to return to footy. If not with the Hawks through the draft then with Centrals in the SANFL. He may surprise you at the moment.

Yes, if he is considering returning seriously, he would be getting fit right now'
If he was not doing anything then he would have no hope of playing at top level. Does any one actually think an AFL club would draft him if he was fat and totally unfit .So if it is true he is thinking about it then all will be surprised
when he turns out, something must be going on.

u are obviously talking from somewhere deep in your rectum?

have u seen him in the last week or 2? he would be under his playing weight at the power...

whether he could contribute anything at AFL level is another thing...
