Any word on the developments today that the season up in the hills may be put back a week, I am a long way from there and haven't seen them, but some grounds are apparently too hard and unplayable.
Was told by a president of a club that there is a meeting tommorow night to determine if the round will go ahead. I think Cudgewa, Bullioh and Tumbarumba are useable but Walwa and Corryong's grounds are a concern to the league at the moment. The rumour at the moment is that Federals have alot of players unavailable early in the season due to weddings etc. and it would be of considerable advantage to hold the first round back. However with alot of late signings it may assist a couple of clubs that are rumoured to have picked up some very handy players who won't be able to be cleared in time.:)

True, but i still would of backed Federals to make the TDFL finals with the amount of cash that was spent last year by that club. There wouldn't of been a ruckman to go with Paul Nugent in either league.

Simon Dale from Yack would put up a great challenge to him, even with one hand!!
Simon was the standout in the TDFL last year before his leg was broken by that fat Parish bloke from Barny in round 8.

MTAG, how's Dale's recovery been from the broken leg? I agree, fully fit Dale would match up well with the whale, but Nugent gets the nod from me in a head to head battle based purely on past achievements. Would be great match up now though!

My spies at Yack tell me if Yack didn't drop out in straight sets in the finals last year, he would have played in the GF,so I guess his leg would be even better now.
He is the sort of bloke that does not need too much conditioning, but apparently he is living with a couple of handy Boxers from overseas. Between them i am sure he is going to be fighting fit for Saturdays game. If he plays the full year injury free, I would not be surprised to see him take votes off Purcell in Barton Medal.

Who's going to win on saturday in games?

*Bullioh vs Cudgewa
*Tumbarumba vs Federal
*Corryong vs Border Walwa

Any news on the meeting tonight Toecutter? Are games actually gunna be played, one option was to forfeit the round or push the season back a week.

For the record my tips:

Bullioh by 20 goals
Federal in a tight one
Corryong in another tight one

Any of you folks interested in taking the cyber-field in a pretend team? :p

Regional Leagues Fantasy Footy League?

Seeking interest in players for a Regional Leagues fantasy footy comp.

This is a) not real footy and b) not pick-a-team-of-AFL-players footy. Its even lazier!

All you do is express interest, I'll do the rest via QOOTY, a crappy random aussie rules simulator I created years ago and have been trying to bring up to speed. FAQs here : http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75728

I'll try to collate a league of teams that are representative of the more popular local leagues here, so I need raised hands from the posters. I won't make up any names, I won't allow any sudden new arrivals.

So either post here or PM me if you want your Bigfooty alter-ego registered for a team.

Hopefully we can turn some rivalries into some even more potent partnerships!

I'll probably aim for starting the season, say, end of next week. I MAY have to be an inflexible prick with okaying a team and treating latecomers.

For this season, hopefully the inaugural season of an ongoing league, all we need are 20 players per team. There is already a Fantasy league, more closely based on the AFL clubs, at Bigfooty, here : http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=30 - its into its 7th season and has developed a bit of history! There is also another league at another footy forum site, this year with only 3 teams but had been as strong as 5 clubs in its 3 year tenure.

So get in touch if you're interested. Remember you don't have to do anything apart from dob your Bigfooty nickname in for a spot. Please tell me which club/league of regional footy you would prefer to be aligned with (please state both).

We'll see how we go. If it doesn't happen, ah well, if it happens later than I hope ... I'll still give it a burl.

Onward lads! ...

The season is short enough with only 15 rounds, dont want ia round being forfeited. There are a couple of general byes, push the comp back a week and cancell one of the byes if need be. Hopefully it will al start on time. Drove past cudgee the other day and it looks fine to play on.

My tips:
Cudgewa - i know of o feew blokes that have been training and signed a clearance but have not been registered. Will go alright
Federal - Always strong, no reason why they shouldnt be this season
Corryong - Just cos

Hasnt been the best start for the league this season, with the grounds, on going revised draw and federals forfeit on the weekend. Interesting to see what all comes out of it all for the remainder of the season.

Are you blokes for real ? Comparing one of the greats of Wodonga (if not the O&M) with a bloke who couldn't get a game for Myrtleford when they weren't even strong !! Shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Whale would spank him, physically and via his record if you compare them.

I rekon i know one ruckman who could go with whale!!Nick Fraser from Mitta!!Best ruck man in the tallangatta league by a mile!!

a bit slow GG, Simon Dale kicked Frasers arse at Yack last year and got 3 votes off the umpires for his efforts. I rate Frase highly but I would love to see him fit wouldn't you??
as previously mentioned, Whale has no real close contenders when it comes to his past efforts!

I was checking the clearances today and noticed Richard Grimmond had dusted the boots off to play with Federals, must be pushing 40 these days. Tren Gallagher signing with Cudge should improve their backline, he was a pretty fair backman at bethanga/ wod. saints although he did see a bit of the ball:). Will be an interesting game between the two sides tommorow with Cudgy improving since last year and Feds losing a heap.

Any chance of the weekend's scores seeing as the league's website is down? Would be much appreciated. (Upper Murray that is)

well season is off and it lokks like federals v bullioh grand final again...the poor old blues had a big loss but look out they will improve in both grades......tumba should stick to rugby and well done to walwa for getting a win and a tam on the oval...and with this wonderful rain some of these better teams can stop whinging about the drought and hard ground and get it on.......carn the .........

Border Walwa 17.8 110 def Tumba 14.4 88
Bullioh 12.11 83 def Corryong 11.9 75
Federal 14.15 99 def Cudgewa 5.6 36

Many thanks for the scores. I have a young bloke up there and I can't always get the scores from the Upper Murray website.

Can you post piccies on this Forum? Just wondering!

From a website perspective, yes. What you need to do is upload them to the web, and then reference them with the image tags (see just above this text box) to get them to show. You can't just upload them straight into the site, they need to be a link.

As long as its clean etc, yep, go ahead!

Does anyone know how the grounds are faring up there? Heard they were having a meeting up there on monday to discuss the length of the season:confused:

Who are the best players running around in the Upper Murray comp these days? Which club is the favorite to win the flag and who will be the most improved:confused:

well you can't go past paul nugent....he takes charge of the game from the first bounce.steve" Mc Fumble" Mc Cabe is one of the fastest guys going around.Sinclair from federals.Theo Herring,Greg Wheeler, Matt Aldridge and Dean Dobson all will perform and hopefully get Cudgewa up there. The other clubs don't a lot to offer excpet Bullioh with Hutchy

Is the season starting to take shape up in the hills, have there been any surprises so far this year or should they put a stop to it and just give the flag to Bullioh now?
