The war against renewable energy

Wow they gave you free solar panels.

So all those wind farms and solar farms must have all got free stuff, so they can give all the Australians free electricity in future.
You are right, these are exciting times.

Well I regard using excess solar as free electricity… seeing it would go to waste.

Seems a strange thing to laugh at after some of your suggestions regarding the future.

which one? You mean the one where I believe usage will be free? And you will pay for peak demand?
Eg…. 5kwh plan - 10kwh plan -15kw plans etc… so provided you stay under those peak imputs you just pay a set fee. Per month..
Like NBN plans where you pay for speed?

If you go over those limits you have to pay.

Something like this….

If you want free food you will need to grow it yourself.
If you want free energy you will need to build the infrastructure yourself.
No-one will give it to you.
"Someone" is paying a shitload for renewable infrastructure. Its not to give away free energy.

Well someone got free energy this quarter. No solar....

We paid a shitload for the NBN…. And we don’t pay for data USAGE!!!! You pay a for a PLAN!!!! IMO it will be the same for power. USAGE wil be unlimited especially during the day.
There will be 200% more renewables than normal consumption because you oversize solar for days with poor conditions and because they are dirt cheap.
We will have excess power 95% of the time.

yes yes

using a car, with already 50% less user life to traditional vehicles, as a battery makes absolute sense to amortise the entire vehicle over an even shorter useful life sounds logical.

I would have thought using a battery as a battery would make more sense. further using a battery in utility scale with proper control systems and maintenance would make even more sense (from a technical and social perspective). Can you kindly confirm your logic of using a car for this?
You just make things up.
How many cars have lifetime warranty on engines?
Unlimited mileage warranty?

It does seem that ev over ice personal car is not economically in front for an occasional use car. In a lot of use cases

Nuts idea that such car battery could help to store solar energy for use at night and therefore provide a second payback has merit

It does really depend on use cases some will suit some will not

if this Happens … We are truly a stupid country.

It might be getting supported in polls (which are easy manipulated by runway questioning), but in the real world, expansion of renewables is magnitudes higher than that of nuclear

These bozos who are really a rump of The coalition don’t have the numbers or actual competence to put in nuclear, but are very adept at ruining those who can with the more sensible an globally accepted renewables.

So despit them wrapping the flag around themselves at any opportunity, they are anti the common good unpatriotic.. I hope their god forgives them

You keep posting unreliable links and often not even reading the links before you post (as they say the opposite of what your walk away position is).

  • your link on the cost of nuclear was an article debunking the cost basis used by the CSIRO. Why reference costings from an article that highlighted the gross incompetence and inexperience of the agency?
  • your link on 20GW of batteries in california was the equivalent of 20GW of nuclear was from a dodgy social media guy. Only to highlight your wonderful social media numpty was confusing storage with production of energy, attested to by california's batteries not even lasting a few hours through the night.
  • your now crazy idea about warranties can be compared to 20 year warranties on solar.....................news flash: warranties on solar do not cover domestic use thus no warranties. Please present the warranty on a MG battery please and let's discuss the terms and conditions.

I'm pro technology and pro moving away from fossil fuels. What I highlight is the transition is not a straight line and the hurdles are larger than one thinks and the cost is massive (more than dollars).

ie batteries are 94% renewable............really? where is this done & what % of a battery is PFAS. what % is child labour. Sure we will get better in time with energy storage and this may mean better batteries or even more likely better storage solutions and better power generation solutions.

Having a discussion on the topic of renewables is an interesting one. but it would be helpful if you provided sensible links and used critical thinking to assess marketing vs reality.

A simple question to ask one self is why commercial batteries exist if amortising an entire car as well as a battery delivered a better outcome?

How fast is renewable technology improving compared to nuclear? We are talking a long time frame even to get a nuclear powered submarine here?

I love how you keep quoting examples around the world where renewables have screwed up, but we also know around the world they are expanding at a massive rate.

They must have some excellent salesmanship if so many people are being taken in over and over again.

If only they read up power raid in big footy

Australia has a 10 year warranty.

1 million mile battery

Here is a link you might find useful google.com

Huh? What does that even mean?

Edit: I think I get it ..

“Why have large water reserves when people have rainwater tanks”

Please provide the terms and conditions of the warranty as you will no doubt find like warranties for solar they aren’t worth the paper they are written on.

Ie solar may come with a 20 year warranty but it only applies when in 20GW installs

Sorry I was wrong … 100% according to Tesla.

I thought you claimed 94% of a battery is recyclable

Now your claim is very different after PFAS has been raised

Please confirm you believe commercial scale battery installations should line up entire fleets of cars to use their batteries rather than just use a battery?

The answer to this highlights the absurdity

It seems to say that any MG replacement parts are only covered for a year.
So widget breaks after 2 years, they replace it free. New widget breaks after 2 years, not covered.

If your battery fails and they deem it to be due to home charging it''s covered in exclusions under "
  • any fault as a result of using the vehicle for a purpose other than that for which it is designed"
Selling the electricity to the grid could also construe commercial use, which automatically drops the warranty period to a ( still respectable ) 7 years.

Are you going to post picture of kids in Cobalt mines???
When cobalt is used in refining oil…

Again your limited critical thinking leads you down the wrong path

A reasonable person would appreciate this is a failing identify this as a reason why not every thing is as good as it seems.

For me PFAS is a reason why batteries and electrolysis won’t succeed long term in their current form. They need to improve or face regulation hurdles.

Mind you although PFAS is banned or being banned with 2 years, the PFAS lobby groups dressed up as renewables will do everything they can to preserve their industry

The battery is limited warranty being 2 years

This is an example of the warranties vs reality gap meaning warranties can’t be used as a guide for performance
