The war against renewable energy

I can't read that paywalled article but I did read that projects have paused for up to only 4 months to allow for community consultation, which apparently didn't happen under the original proposals.

The QLD LNP showing the rest of Australia what Duttons plans are…
I reckon this will lose Dutton his seat.
You clearly have NFI how Queenslanders think. We don’t think like you inner city metro folk. Outside of inner Brisbane and particularly through the regions the majority of QLDers see coal as king. The renewable strategy has not had the buy in you believe in QLD. I know in my region many have removed solar panels from their homes. It’s a totally different thought bubble here

So why since the sir Joh days have you had mainly labor state govts, but gone a long way to imposing LNP federally

Qld seems to have split personality disorder

LNP locally has been a basket case not too dissimilar to the VIC LNP. They’ve finally looked like they’ve got their arse into gear and smashed the ALP at the last election. Federally they’ve always performed well.

Guess where Duttons seat is…

I knew QLDers were stupid but if what you say is correct I didn’t realise they were that stupid to remove solar panels…
But I guess having every newspaper owned by Murdoch it makes sense.

As I said you have nfi what you’re talking about. You lose any credence of credibility the minute you mention Murdoch or press. That has **** all to do with why they are being removed. Educate yourself

There’s a lot of crappy panels been installed with short lifespans.

Parts of the industry is very dodgy
My neighbors who we have lived next to for 8 have had to replace theirs twice due to storm damage. Obviously now their insurance premiums have gone through the roof so they just removed them. We researched the viability and have also found it’s not worth the time money and hassle. Other home owners in our street have done the same.

Hail damage?

I'd be interested to see the numbers that show insurance premiums increasing due to hail storm damage, offsets solar panels.
Where it saves you money to remove them.

You do realise it’s not all about saving money. Imagine every time you had a major cell storm which we get 3-4 a year you have to inspect and wonder whether your solar panels are intact. Then the couple that actually does cause serious damage your forced into an insurance claim jumping through hoops dealing with insurance then trades coming to repair. Now do that every couple of years.
You seriously question whether a few hundred dollars a year is worth the effort of going through that rig-moral.
As I said we investigated and decided wasn’t worth the mental stress. We’ve already re roofed and re rendered our house once. We built in 2018. Couldn’t think of anything worse than replacing solar panels every few years to save a couple of hundred.

Unbelievable. Sorry to hear it.
How many times have you had to replace your solar panels due to hale, since 2018?

That's weird. The roof on my house in QLD is over 30 years old. Neighbors solar panels are 15+ years old.

No issues here. Maybe you bought a lemon?

Sorry, I misunderstood.

Was this a new development area/suburb?
Yeah area is about 9 years old southern end Of the Sunshine Coast at Caloundra . We have a few covenant items to achieve green rating.
Light coloured roof, water tank with rains to mains change over, double glazing, tinting or solar. We have to tick 3 of these items as a minimum to gain approval. Solar is almost non existent and for a place like SE QLD you’d think that’s crazy. It’s not worth the hassle
