Would a declaration on destination club be disruptive to a playing group this season? Would that delay an announcement?
There cant be any announcement because he has to go through the RFA process or up to the end of the trade period. An announcement indicating his preference before then could be seen as conduct prejudicial to the draft, etc. This uncertainty will continue until then. Am sure there will be plenty of people (am thinking someone like a Robbo) will come out and say that all this uncertainty/speculation is unnnecessary and that it would be better if clubs could come to an agreement now. But that would be a terrible outcome.

What would happen then is that clubs would start trying to do deals all over the place in the middle of seasons, etc. With a designated trade period comes uncertainty before it.

We assume outright flag favouritism if he joins.
From a great pessimist like your good self that’s great praise indeed.

:p

I'm not so sure that announcing his preferred destination is in any way prejudicial to the draft rules or processes. It certainly doesn't guarantee that that is the ultimate outcome.

I read somewhere that Prestia nominated his club of choice in August.

Someone on this board mentioned last year that we were after a Gold Coast KP player, which some people took to be two metre Peter, but I expect it was the Lynchpin. Just in regard to how long we've been working on this.

Just an FYI guys, DeGoody is certainly a Tigers plant to stir up shit over here.

Go through his post history, he decided to comment on a few things to build up the story he is a "Pies fan"

Yet when he comments he doesn't use "Us" or "We" or "Our".
He uses Collingwood while saying Rance is the best defender in the league. (red flag right there)

No fan talks about our team like below.

"Collingwoods finals side will look like this"

vs

"Our finals side will look like this"

And that's the end of that chapter....

Collingwood’s finals side will look like this

Maynard Reid crisp
Howe Moore Langdon
Aish Pendlebury Sidebottom
Hosikin-Elliot mihocek de goey
Stephenson cox Elliot
Foll: Grundy Adams treloar
Inter : Thomas Phillips greenwood Fasolo

Players in bold that didn’t play today and Howe who got knocked out in first quarter

Collingwood don’t have a key back in the quality of rance. His the best defender in the league.

But when you lose Dunn Goldsack Howe sharenberg Reid plus Moore has just come back it really does test your depth. Just highlighting that losing these players who have played some dam good footy this year hurt. So yes its is the equivalent of tigers losing 2 key defenders in a game on top of the fact that our first choice key backman dunn Reid & Goldsack.

Any person who knows footy will understand that losing 2 key defenders in a game has a massive structural impact. So yes that’s equivalent to tigers losing rance & grimes. It throws all your structures out

Sorry, retract that bit around nominating preferred destination (I was remembering the old draft days when players said they didnt want to go somewhere - Robert Pyman), but there can be no announcement that a deal has been done because a deal can't be done until the RFA process is walked through. That lunatic Cochrane will do something at some stage.

If I am the GC list manager, right now I am trying to get a trade done with the threat of matching.

Even Danger waited until post season to officially announce...even though everyone knew he was going to Geelong.
I expect it will be announced post Grand Final...just prior to trade period opening.
The official “Lynch-o-meter” will be fluctuating wildly during this time.

We’ve been working on it longer than that.

Plus can't spell Hoskin-Elliott, Elliott or Scharenberg, mixes up upper and lower case quite randomly, confuses "dam" with "damn"; "his" with "he's" - def not a Pies fan

He proved during the Treloar saga he has no sources and is making it up. We had a source with a proven record that ended up being right and for memory that tiger71 guy was confused why we were so confident

Only posting as you guys are mentioning me without taging me. So mods please allow me some grace.

I was spot on re AT. He flipped plain and simple. Gubby did a super job for you. Im not going to argue the point though as its a no win. Just read my posting back then and compare it to media reports after the deal was done. They marry up.

On Tom, i trust my mail 100%. Its the reason i dont change my story like sone on here when the media reports something.

Anywho; good luck for the rest if the year:)

He’s a tiger, it’s over. I would have liked to get him, but I’m not as upset as I was when we missed out on Judd.

In good news, given that we’ve been throwing multi-million dollar contract offers around it seems that reports of our salary cap squeeze must have been greatly exaggerated, so it might be an interesting trade/FA period yet...

And Danger was the only time a club has really threatened to match an RFA offer, so Geelong did a trade with Adelaide. I reckon that is what GC should be doing - try to get a club to pay you more than what is likely to be awarded as RFA compo.

I think Danger also played a part in it being a trade rather than a RFA deal.

I can also confirm he has a Russian accent.

So in summary you were wrong.

He didn’t backflip. Tigers made assumptions. And that comes direct from a Treloar family member, who said he was going to Collingwood for months before he announced it.

No, you were just wrong on Treloar, plain and simple.

We had him a long way out and most posters here didn't even get that worried when the Tigers came along later with their bid. It was posted on this board, as early as the pre-season of that year, that it was a done deal of Treloar to the Pies. This was confirmed by 2 or 3 well informed posters here.

All that happened with your interest is that the trade price we paid to get him went up due to that imbecile Matthews at GWS getting involved, trying to get him across to the Tigers.

Yep... That was my first thought too. Nice investigative work though.
