I'm not potting him for leaving and I can't recall many, (if any) doing so.
You suggested he wanted out because we wanted to trade him.
I making the point we may have asked the question and moved on when he said no.
Bottom line, self-interest applies here; he, (possibly) wanted to prove himself by ousting Grundy, (thank goodness that didn't happen).
We wanted a different way of getting Treloar and ultimately we probably wanted more than what we got from GCS.
I've been taken a little out of context. I know you didn't pot him, the posters I was responding to were. They compared Tom Lynch leaving to Witts leaving, which I hardly think is comparable. Anyone who watched Witts during the '15-'16 seasons could tell he wanted to stay but the club didn't rate him, or at least didn't see a spot for him in the side with Grundy outperforming him. I'm not even potting the club for trading him, as obviously Grundy and Cox have been brilliant, but I just think dragging his name through the mud cos he ended up at GC is a bit silly. No one in their right mind would actually WANT to go to that putrid club, clearly it was a last resort for him...

Anyway, in summary, I still love Wittsy, footy's coming home and Tom Lynch will be at the pies next year.

The only thing bleeding obvious is that you taken some poetic licence with the descriptors. He was (apparently) asked if he'd entertain a trade to enable us to reduce the impact of the Treloar deal (from memory). He declined. The following year he requested a trade. Shown the door indeed.
He couldn't go the first year as his partner had just been accepted into a University course and she could not transfer the course interstate at that time. He and the Pies came to a mutual decision through 2016 that it would be his last year at the Pies.

When did they do that? Last I heard was when they actually announced he'd been stripped of the captaincy (a logical move) and they said then they'd support him through his rehab process.

Banned him from clubs general areas but said they would allow him access to rehab facilities.

Not allowed to train, go to meetings etc...fair enough I guess maybe working on new ip for next year of which he won't be a part of.

The whole idea of matching is to match the salary with the intention of retaining the player, is it not? They can't retain him, not now. Not after how it has gone down so far.

Yeah they have all but kicked him out the club ain't no matching now.

Only willing to fulfill legal obligation to allow access at alternate times to rehab his work injury.

Could have ended up with Treloar and Charlie Curnow

We have paid very little attention to a fairly big call yesterday.
The thread should be renamed "Welcome to Collingwood T Lynch".
Either that or TradeDraft starts a new one. Get on it, Dave.
I didn't miss it.
I just don't to stoop to the level of others;)

So I was listening to the sports hour on 3AW. Tom Browne (the younger guy not the tosser on Ch7) was wanting to confirm a story for most of the program but in the end said he wasn't prepared to go with it as yet. Gerard Healy, just before the news insinuated that the story was a high profile player from up North has decided to come to a club in Melbourne with stripes rather than a sash.

Tom Browne said he would wait to confirm tomorrow.

I hope my theory doesn't come true mate. :(

Theory or good oil?

My mail is it's Hawks, has been for a while.

Then again my mail comes from some dubious individuals.:p:drunk:

This season Wittsy has won more hitouts than all of GWS put together.... would have been a win win for both clubs and players
GWS posters for two years:
“We dOn’T NeEd wItTs He’S sHiT”

GWS posters for two years:
“We dOn’T NeEd wItTs He’S sHiT”

An 800 hitout season ruckman putting it down to the midfield of Shiel/Kelly/Ward/Coniglio/Scully/Greene/Griffen/Whitfield/Taranto et al.

Yeah, they really didn't need that, did they...? :drunk:

I heard Connors interviewed on radio last week. I can’t remember exactly but someone on here could help. They were suggesting they can’t announce anything officially til the Trade and Free Agency period in October. Does anyone know if that is right? If so, it’s going to be a long couple of months.
