We all got hooked in the 80s and lack the willing to wean ourselves completely. We don't smoke in front of the kids.
Yeah it's understandable at your age.

What I don't get is the young woman next door early 20s with 2 kids taking it up in this era, health reasons aside it must cost a fortune.

Was mixing tobacco with cannabis (makes it burn marginally better) for 3 years for my weekend joints. Once I realized it had been 3 years and thus not really occasional went "****!" and stopped adding it. Also unsurprisingly I didn't crave the joints as much.

At least it was half-half and about 5 times a week. ****ing off outside every 30 minutes, every day, "Oh my god my 12 hour flight to America", and not even getting high is the saddest shit.

Shame.

Yeah my brother had issues with drugs (ie. making them and getting arrested for making them) but stopped all the shit.
He went through Duntroon in the late 80s early 90s and developed some very poor lifelong habits as a result of this. The revelations about serious cultural problems there came as no surprise to anyone in our family.

I don’t think there is a black sheep in my family, does that mean I’m the black sheep?

Well, if you include aunts, uncles, cousins there is, not in my immediate family though

No real black sheep in our family but one of my older brothers caused the parents the most worry when growing up - he began smoking at 15, was a bit rebellious, bongs found in the house and just caused stress on mum in particular (mum tended to worry about anything and everything, even when we were grown adults). But he is now probably the highest income earner of the family and doing well.
