Salt is a natural preservative and has been used for centuries to preserve foods. After I buy a packet of butter I carve off a slab that sits in the butter dish on the bench and is fine for at least a couple of weeks. The rest goes in the fridge. No need for that microwave hullabaloo. Same reason that you don't need to put Vegemite in the fridge.

I'm leaving my butter in the pantry like a mad bastard I've decided. Spreads piss easy and doesn't melt at all. Margarine still in fridge if required
My mum and dad would leave their butter in the pantry, but it was that stuff that comes in a wrapper (lack of a better word).

I'm doing this dill sauce with some salmon tonight.

Some serious OCD in this thread

Ive got stuff older than my fridge in there

My pantry is wherever I see a space
You should see me at my parents holiday house. All their stuff is messy, I make it neat ala Sleeping with the Enemy style 😆
