No one should have weddings on Grand Final day. At least some of your guests will absolutely want to watch it and its a pretty important day on the grander social calendar for most Australians.
I was at a wedding for the Leo Barry grand final, most annoying. My step sister got married at the same time as England put five past the Boche.

Yeah having your wedding on GF day is a dick move - probably tight asses who can get it cheap on a saturday (i presume it could be a bit cheaper as not many wanting it on that date)

Having said that, Ive planned to go to Darwin in September and the Grand Final falls on the Saturday ill be away. I dont give a sh*t anymore about watching the GF. 5-10 years ago it was a must watch, now its not. Its the way foot has gone for me.

If i was home i would end up at a mates getting drunk and the grand final as background noise really.
I have a GF party every year with 30-50 people, i reckon 10 of us watch the game and 4 of us actually care about the game.

Its still an "event".

Yeah agree with the last part, good to have a big group get together. We never watch the pre-game or anthem etc. Basically tune in for the first bounce and depending on the game (tight interesting game or a blow out), people slowly lose interest as it goes on - Rich v GWS, barely anyone watching from half time onwards

Its like x-mas for me. Everyone has to wear a footy jumper (i usually hand out 20-30 from my own collection) we do a sweep, we do a pre game gf sprint for the boys (sprint, skoll a beer, sprint again), halftime handball comp (even made the target with the net in the middle) then relive the glory days with a kick after the game half cut.

Mostly I’m indifferent about the GF, with one notable exception (I’ve blotted the other one out 😉). I usually have to decide who I don’t want to win it.

Boche a racial slur? Sounds like a racial slur.
boche is a derisive term used by the Allies during World War I, often collectively ("the Boche" meaning "the Germans")

It is a shortened form of the French slang portmanteau alboche, itself derived from Allemand ("German") and caboche ("head" or "cabbage").

So I should put you down as a no for attending our renewal of vows on the last Saturday in September?
Ill call it a maybe, if its somehow Essendon, Carlton or Melbourne in a granny i couldnt think of anything id rather watch less.

The step-kids dad is getting married later in the year and messaged the missus last night saying 'we just worked out our wedding is on the weekend you have the kids, can we swap weekends?'......(this wedding has been planned for at least 6 months by the way  🤦‍♂️

Now i have no issue swapping weekends but FMD, he is either of these:
  • such a piece of sh*t that he only thinks of himself and never of his kids or others and plans stuff when it best suits him
  • or so dumb that he didnt think to look if he has the kids that weekend.

I'd like to think its the latter but in my dealing with him, he doesnt give a sh*t about his kids and when they have them, its whats best suits what he wants. To me, it shows that his kids never crossed his mind when planning his wedding (which is about par for most of their lives).

If we ever plan to do anything, either with the kids or without we first look at if we have them for that period and plan accordingly. I find it remarkable they dont do the same thing.....ever.
Maybe he was just waiting on numbers to see if they'd get an invite.

Bloke next door has been trying to fix his compressor all day. It's got an air leak somewhere around one of the cylinders.

He went home a few hours ago and forgot to switch it off.

****ing thing is starting up every six minutes: roaring away for a minute, and then hissing away in the background for five minutes.

Hope the damn thing doesn't destroy itself or catch fire overnight.

Russia invading Ukraine, surely Russia has enough territory, they are the biggest country in the world in terms of landmass.

Canada is the second biggest country in terms of landmass and you don't see the Canadians invading Alaska.

Ridiculous.

Putin probably wants Alaska back as well because Russia history.

********* driving in the wet and not driving to the conditions

To the ******* in the 4WD who stopped in the middle of the waterlogged neighborhood street then stopped, put it in reverse then went nowhere for 5 minutes eventually pulled over to the side so those of us who knew what we were doing and where we were going could go.

He stopped then stopped?

In the middle of the street that was slightly underwater (maybe an inch of water).

Then put his reverse lights on - went nowhere. No idea what they were thinking or planning.

Eventually pulled over so everyone else in front and behind could slowly get to where we wanted to get to
