First world problems but Woolworths is giving me the shits at the moment.

Every time I go in, the aisles are just full of workers picking the click and collect orders. Which fine, whatever. But the amount of times I've had them dive in front of me while I'm looking for something annoys the shit out of me. Why are customers that aren't in store being prioritised over ones who are? Then there's the trolley things they're packing all their orders in, which can be a nightmare to get around during busy periods.

I understand click and collect is helpful for people at times but it honestly drives me batty. I shouldn't have to fight past staff to shop there. They need to repurpose certain stores to only be click and collect/in store shopping.

The good news is they are opening big automated warehouses to deal with online shopping. I believe they will replace the need for stores to fulfill online orders.

My local Woolies has assigned all the car park spaces next to the store as Click and Collect. Which means the rest of the car park nearest the shop gets full and you have to divert to their underground car park. That means a trip on the escalator or lift. Of course, it's first world problems but we have a choice where to spend our money. I mostly now shop in Coles where you can park above ground within a few seconds walk of their entrance.

Woolies are running click n collect and their warehouses like Amazon do where everything is measured down to the second with stupid tight timelines that some "algorithm" says is a reasonable amount of time to pack an order

They had a separate warehouse for frozen shit.

Separate warehouse for long life shit.

Separate warehouse for produce.

It's not all in the same physical location.

The warehouses are huge and now mostly automated.

Most of the online orders that I do (for when I know I won't be home to answer the door) I use my local post office's address as a parcel collect point. Has worked well for years...... occasionally I'll get a blemish (for example it gets sent to the local post office box center..... before they realise and re-direct it to the actual post office itself).

I've had a doozie with a delivery for today - despite the address I typed in............ the item was delivered to another post office (same suburb, but like 15 minutes away from my intended pick up point) - and one that is quite tardy in their customer service. Scratching my head how it happened.

I've actually seen this a lot at many different retails click and collect operations, random passers-by rummage through a click and collect trolley AND then proceed to take the item(s) out for themselves. It's just as scummy as a random customer finding a trolley full of xyz items and proceed to take the trolley for their own use.

I have a parcel locker in my building. I have 1 post office within easy walking distance, and a 2nd one that's about a 45 minute round trip walking.

They insist on using a 3rd post office as a delivery point, despite the fact that it's not on the public transport routes, and the fact that the location (as a pick up point) and the post office layout itself both breach Victoria's DDA standards.

Makes no sense to do customer orders from a supermarket warehouse.

Coles, Woolies etc. are just logistics companies. They will truck 10 boxes of 10 bags of chips or whatever as part of one truckload going to one location and the whole point is customers will go to said location and buy said chips one, two, however many bags at a time. Would be horribly inefficient for a centralised warehouse to be picking and combining individual items into orders and then distributing them over long distances.
