It got banned from our sports carnivals when I was about 5-6 and the rumour running around was that some kid in another school had tied the rope around his hand and his hand was ripped off.

Seems ridiculous but it sounded plausible at the time. Did any other schools get this rumour?

Nah my local ones would still have them. But having said that a lot of play ground equipment is not what is used to be.

I remember a park near our holiday house in St Leonards had this awesome spinning thing, like the ones they had at McDonalds, except it was shaped like an "egg" capsule. ****ing awesome, spin around till you made yourself almost throw up. Of course it hasnt been there for years now.
