Roo played the grand final in 98. And almost every game up until the GF in 97. That counts for a lot.

cheers to banners girl for the stats before...appreciated :)

Yeah, Roo is a rockstar. Apart from Voss, i can't name another player who has been better than him and is still playing. He is along side Hird, Buckley, Harvs, Dustin Fletcher.

PS - Joke about Fletch. Was just feling loyal!

What about this bloke. I'd give to to him, hard to top a bloke who's captained 3 premiership sides, won the B&F in 2 of those years (second in the other).

Michael Voss.

That's it right there, the best player 00-06. 2 club B&F and 2 AFL MVP awards in premiership years, Buckley is a champion but he doesn't get close to that.
Would Buckley swap his Brownlow for a B&F in a premiership team? in a flash.
Fair to say Buckley is currently playing better Footy than Voss though.

Still goes missing in important games like last weekend though. At least he's consistent.

why was last weekend an important game?

run o the mill h&a season game

performs when it matters, he has played in 3GF'S and has been BOG in two of them, in his teams best in the other game

queens bday may be a big game for melbourne fans, not really that big in real terms tho

Robert Harvey, a quiet acheiver.
He has won just about every award (bar a premiership).

Including Player honours: Brownlow Medal 1997, 1998; best and fairest 1992, 1994, 1997, 1998; 2nd best and fairest 2000, 2003; 3rd best and fairest 1990, 1993, 1996, 1999; All-Australian 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2003; International Rules Series 1998; EJ Whitten Medal 1992, 1993, 1996; AFLPA MVP 1997; Michael Tuck Medal 2004; pre-season premiership sides 1996, 2004; captain 2001-02.

Copy pasted off the saints website. Has been the saints biggest impact, some recent performences was his match winning against Adelaide in Last years qualifying Final.

Are you including preseason comps?

The Melbourne match I would argue was an important match for Collingwood because it is was a chance to prove that they can beat top 8 sides.

No doubting how good Harvey is, but this thread is from 2000 onwards.

It seems to me that on paper (which was the point of the thread) then roo has it over buckley. Voss has faded big time in the last two years although the simon black stats do make him look stronger than the two captains. What is the best way to sort it out as these two are pretty close.

I think buckley would shade roo in a boxing match. Hes gotter better reach and more flexibility.
