He had just been crunched by - I think - Stringer (of all people) who crunched him from behind. With some venom, but a fair tackle. Took a while to get up after that which is unusual for Libba. The replay of the tackle didn't suggest a head knock, more likely to the side or the ribs. Hope there's no internal damage.
Yeah I would guess the injury came from that. Perhaps whiplash if it's a concussion.

Look it’s a bad performance, but we were pretty good the previous three. Absolutely no one played particularly well tonight.

Even if it’s not a successful year I’d much rather we compete and develop kids well etc than implode.
I don't doubt they are having a crack. There is an underlying mental fragility that I feel hasn't been addressed since the '21 GF and when the pressure comes we revert to type and go into our shells.
We have some kids coming along but there is other factors that require addressing.
We don't seem to want to confront the hard truth

Expected Score / Actual Score
WB: 82 / 67 (-15)
ES: 77 / 96 (+19)

Expected Margin / Actual Margin: +5 / -29

WB
23 shots, 9 goals, 11 kicked behinds, 3 no scores, 39% accuracy (2 rushed behinds)

ESS
25 shots, 15 goals, 5 kicked behinds, 5 no scores, 60% accuracy (1 rushed behind)
Thanks OG. I thought it might look like that.

It would have been an utter travesty if it turned out that way though. They dominated us from half way through the second quarter.

The kids need to be looked after or they'll go elsewhere, provided with opportunity to develop and play their natural role. Im over Bevo's bullshit experiments.

English terrible tonight. Outmuscled all game but we have seen that before.

The worse thing about him tonight was his positioning around the ground. He was so far from the play at times and not in threatening positions he looked like a 1st gamer. Just didnt want to get involved.

Had my first good look at Darcy, gee he will be a player in a few years

Not reviewing the 21gf will go down as the beginning of the end for Bevo when he is eventually given the ass man couldn't confront that he was outcoached on match day and couldn't make a tactical decision to try and stem the momentum flow they had in the third. That loss has obviously haunted the playing group for years as, as soon as teams get a goal or two in a row quickly the players drop their heads and we get what we get against Essendon tonight or the cats, hawks, freo, carlton, etc

Darcy was actually a lot more competitive in the centre than English - despite being a skinny 20 yo.

I can see he will be a better centre ruck than English in 2 or 3 years for sure.

How much is English asking?

Just back home from the game. I can’t remember the last time I got any enjoyment watching this team in person. 2019? It’s ****ing horrific to watch the same mistakes over and over again.

Naughton kicks an early goal and is up and about - anonymous after that.
English is an absolute disgrace of a ruck. He should be playing VFL next week.
JUH looks like he’s going to rip the game apart, but butchers an easy kick for goal in the fourth to kill any chance of a win.
Forward line is either too close to the midfield, or 1.5 kicks away and the mids don’t know what to do. There is no movement, they spoil each other and the ball walks out of there.
Our half backs can’t make a ****ing effective decision to save their life, but somehow also think they are prime Dusty and try to break three tackles in their own defensive 50 to get done HTB.
And the usual suspects - missed tackles, terrible handballs to feet, and of course simple misses from set shots.

A special mention for Bailey Williams, who put in one of the laziest performances I’ve seen in a long while.

There was a thread last year that asked something like who can we trust in our team? I said at the time it was Bont, Libba, Jones and Richards. I haven’t seen anything this year to change my mind, and even Richards looks shaky now.

It’s a ****ing debacle, and Grant, Bevo and Bains should all be gone.

Yep, the club needs to show some balls and take the keys off Beveridge and fast. This season has the potential to be an utter disaster.

Tonight's performance was that of a group that's checked out. It was abominable and did we see any real moves from the box? Nah, course not. That would be crazy.

I was honestly shocked by our performance tonight, I probably shouldn't be but I was.

The number of times we kicked it straight to them or just blatantly miss-kicked it was ridiculous, Baker, Bramble, Vandermeer and Weightman were all culprits and it was critical times in the match, add to that missing easy set shots and then having next to pressure on the following kick-in.

But I'll tell you what annoyed me the most was Bevo (and or the coaching staff's) stubbiness to make any changes until it was too late. It was clear by HT that we were getting killed in the centre and yet we did nothing to change that up until we down 6 goals down late in Q4.

English, Treloar, Bont and Libba all had 20+ CBAs each, while Macrae, Sanders and Darcy all had under 10 with Darcy only having 2 prior to Q4. Honestly, what was the point in putting Gallagher, Weightman and West in their in time-on in Q4 when the match was essentially over? How about trying them when we were still in it? We almost never try anything new mid-game and it drives me nuts, especially given how poor we have been over the past 12 months. Look at the Hawks last week, they were getting smashed and made the call to switch Hardwick forward after HT and they almost won. Obviously, that's not going to work every week but at least try tried to change it up, while we continue to be the most predictable positional team in the competition.

Some light at the end of the tunnel :poo:

I really really hope that the club do not give English a million dollar per year contract. He is definitely not worth that. I think they need to be very smart with this otherwise every extra dollar you pay him is one less you have to keep the other players that we need much more. Pick up a ruck who is willing to go a bit harder than Tim and let him go unless he is willing to be more physical and also take a lesser salary.

You reap what you sow.

Too many players who aren’t established in the team or at the level, and they played accordingly.

By playing too many young kids and putting established players on notice, the match committee has eroded the confidence and psychological safety of all players.

Too few players making the play, makes for a team that is easy to counter for the opposition.

For all those calling for a youth approach, it is the exact opposite of what we need to do to improve.

We should be going older more established players and building their confidence, not undermining them by dropping them, making them subs or hanging them out to dry in the media.

Give some young fringe players a spell, and put a team on the park with older more trustworthy players.

It would also show some loyalty and appreciation for past performances.

The treatment of Macrae, Dale and Daniel this year has been an absolute disgrace.

Not only has it damaged their confidence, it has meant many of their team mates are also metaphorically walking on egg shells. If they are dropping guys like that how can anyone feel safe.

That is a death sentence for a team with a game plan like ours, which requires our players to back themselves and show a large appetite for taking risks.

Imagine how good JUH would/can/will be under a great coach... The kid is a genuine star, our modern day version of the next Kelvin Templeton pre-knee problems.

I thought West was ok, Darcy will be a star and Sanders will be gun when he gets a tank. You can see why players like Baker and Bramble were delisted. Too many soft players though, Treloar, English, Williams, Macrae, Duryea, JJ & Dale to name a few.

Probably the best list I’ve seen assembled in RWB. Long time Bevo defender. It’s over.

That's the worst part. We'll look back and think we should have won at least another flag, multiple top 4 finishes and we've just p***** it away through a combination of ego, pigheadedness, drinking of our own bathwater, deer in the headlights/frozen game day coaching and too clever by half, favouritism, out of the box thinking for the sake of it coaching the rest of the time. Awful combination.

hat's the worst part. We'll look back and think we should have won at least another flag,

that's what stings the most. This club should have had another flag post 2016... Missed opportunities IMO and the window has all but closed. We cant win a flag with the list in it's current shape

He is certainly improving, but still needs to learn how to kick for goal.

His misses have been really hurting.

A forwards coach would/could work wonders, Spangher isnt that bloke IMO

Trustworthy players!!!!!

Name the big games any of those Trustworthy players you named have stepped up????

About the only thing I agree with in your entire post is do not play young players because they are young play them because they have earned it.

The only established player you have mentioned that probably deserves to be in the team and would certainly not be dropped after tonight's performance is Macrae.

You were wrong when you believed we didn't need a rebuild after 2012. Remember 2016, would not have happened without the clear out.

You will be wrong again if you think players who are clearly on the decline should be held onto. Dale, Daniel and Williams need to be moved on. We also need to be more targeted in our other club acquisitions. And younger player need to be rewarded with good consistent VFL form
