Trustworthy players!!!!!

Name the big games any of those Trustworthy players you named have stepped up????

About the only thing I agree with in your entire post is do not play young players because they are young play them because they have earned it.

The only established player you have mentioned that probably deserves to be in the team and would certainly not be dropped after tonight's performance is Macrae.

You were wrong when you believed we didn't need a rebuild after 2012. Remember 2016, would not have happened without the clear out.

You will be wrong again if you think players who are clearly on the decline should be held onto. Dale, Daniel and Williams need to be moved on. We also need to be more targeted in our other club acquisitions. And younger player need to be rewarded with good consistent VFL form

Macrae has been an absolute model of consistency. How did we repay that at the start of this year?

Playing guys who have done nothing in front of him.

That sort of treatment kills morale.

Spots need to be earned. Too often they haven't been.

That's on the coach. Had Macrae played the whole game against the Cats they could/may have won that game.

that's what stings the most. This club should have had another flag post 2016... Missed opportunities IMO and the window has all but closed. We cant win a flag with the list in it's current shape

I dunno… none of us can say for sure. One premiership and one GF in his tenure is hard to argue with historically, but I really disagree we can’t win a flag. This list can definitely win a flag with the right coach and game plan.

IMO the gap between the top and bottom six is too great. Our backline is exposed

A forwards coach would/could work wonders, Spangher isnt that bloke IMO
Possibly so, although I do think professionals, even young ones, need to take a bit more responsibility for their own performance.

On the bright side his missing is trending towards a more consistent pattern, so I think he is still on a positive trajectory, pardon the pun.

The lack of resilience is the disappointing thing for me. After we did a lot of things right and some hard work in he first half to play some good football, some dumbd defensive free kicks in tackles in our D50 (that were there), goalkicking accuracy from both sides and some dodgy umpiring saw what we should have had as a 5-6 goal lead at stages be an even game. But instead of working through that and persisting through to the match end, we dropped our bundle and acted as if "well we did our hard work and didn't get the results so let's not give it our all irrespective of the end result to the end of the game."

That's gotta be on the coaching staff, as they build the cultures for the players.

Who knows, maybe they can, maybe they can't, but it won't happen because the board is too cowardly to move on the coach. Make no mistake he still runs the club and it shows. Got a lucky break in 2016 and has been s*** ever since. Out of ideas and should be out of time. Doing more damage to the club with every passing week.

I’m 39. I really don’t think I’m a football expert. I played at a reasonable level but never exceptional level. For multiple years in a row of sitting on level 2, I can predict the way pretty much every play is going to go long before it happens. It’s predictable, it’s ineffective and it’s sad.

Also, I've been one of English's biggest defenders here but that was just awful awful. The league is littered with blokes with vaguely similar careers like Reilly O'Brien who about five years ago was a premier ruck in the comp and now probably shouldn't be getting a game for Adelaide. It's a real line in the sand moment for English, the way that he approaches the next few weeks will determine how the rest of his career goes. Nothing is easy in this league and English has to do battle with that.

Absolute dross!

When you have this many AA (or thereabouts) players in their prime years playing well below standard you have to look at the common denominator. The bloke pulling the levers has lost the playing group.

Correct spots need to be earned.

Macrae had an injury interrupted pre season. He is fit now and earning his spot. Prior to that he was not ready. There should be no automatic entitlement.

Dale and Williams have been bog ordinary since 2021. Daniel has been exceptional at nothing for a while.

West earned his spot, Darcy earned his spot, Garcia is now earning his spot, Buss is putting his hand up, Frejia is putting his hand up.

Pick the best team for today and tomorrow not for the past.

We have had one half decent year in the 7 years since we had success and this year looks to make it 8 years. Our so called better players do not step up. Change their role, challenge them and provide opportunities to others and who knows. Or just keep rewarding declining players where we know we will simply decline with them.

Us in 2016, the tiges the year after the Pies last year, you think that happens by continuing to do what has failed?

Unfortunately, he is still making the same mistake that he made in 2017.

He didn't show enough loyalty to his premiership team back then, just like he isn't showing enough loyalty to his senior players now.
Rubbish, the players then did not show respect to their team mates then. How many who moved on bit us back

Bullshit.

Players drop off, and Players do not work hard enough to maintain standards.

Yes Bev is done but so are a few players. How many that have left have been top 5 in the Best and Fairests at the clubs they have gone to or have even been picked up by other clubs

For all the (deserved) love Jamarra gets, I really think his limited tank is glossed over. He's generally a good kick but misses plenty of easy ones when gassed, and is also forcing Naughton to do a hell of a lot of running up and down the ground to make up for that, which in turn he (Naughton) gets criticised for in the media for supposedly not doing enough.

The time to move on Bevo was years ago.

If we were to get a new coach next year or the year after all of our midfield guns would have passed their peak.

Our defence is totally reliant on Jones and he probably won't be there in 2 years.

It's possible if we play Naughty down back next year and if we snag really good midfielders in the draft, but we don't have any first round picks next year and Smith looks gone.

It's not impossible for this list to win a flag, but Bevo and the Club haven't given ourselves the best chance.

I absolutely agree.

I have never said that Bevo doesn't make mistakes, he makes plenty, and they infuriate me too.
I just disagree with a lot of posters on here about what those mistakes are.

I have consistently said his biggest mistake is he puts the future ahead of the present too much. It's a major shame he keeps doubling down on his mistakes too because he does so many other things well.

Bring back Monty or a guy like Mark Williams as his offsider, and another flag could be just around the corner.

Don't worry though, the Pres, Bains and Grant are onto it.

I wish we could drop English and play Darcy as the sole ruck with Naughton pinch hitting. Tell Naughton to not even worry about the ruck contest and just play as an extra midfielder.
