The club will be absolutley flamed for this decision by the supporters. Wouldn't be surprised if our membership is going to be way down this year.
We're not the bad guys, we're just dissapointed in the decision,the opportunity we were handed on a silver platter that we declined.

No, but the fact they strung us along for months, the players, the captain...everyone looking as if we had him. Everyone thinking that we had him and tonights board meeting was nothing more than a thing for the media or just final confirmation.
If we said no straight away or were never in the race in the first place, but it just feels like they've been playing a joke on us.

I couldn't agree more and this hurts the most.
As a supporter I was led to believe it was almost a certainty through comments made by players etc.

Come on Bench. I'd expect better from you. We've discussed the toll injuries took in these games and now you're saying if we had Cousins, we win them. C'mon! Cousins wouldn't have made the difference in the Hawks game either. I understand you're all disappointed as am I, but look at the issue from the other side.

Not saying he'd make a difference in those games just expressing how i'm feeling right now. Same feeling now as i had after all those games. Bitter pill to swallow.

Instead of picking a player of Ben Cousins calibre for practically nothing we'll go with a proven dud in Nathan Carroll.

L2M4G you've steered me towards the light. I see it now.
There was a reason, a very good reason our board, Collingwood's board and 13 other clubs board rejected Cousins. Together between us and the pies we have 12 months of investigations to base our decisions on. The reasons we may never know but as supporters we have to stand behind the clubs decision and pledge our support and not jump off because of a decision we don't agree with. The board and directors made a decision they thought would be best for the club in the future.
Trust the club. I dare you.
Is it possible we could actually support what the club has done? For once? Once again in the 130 years of the St Kilda footy club they have failed to make the right decision. The club continues to rot from the board down.
SMS's flowing through to SEN 1116 from Saints fans telling Archie Fraser, Greg westaway and our incompetent board to not bother mailing out memberships because we supporters give up.
One guy had been a member since 1972 and he has had enough of this Footy club not having any balls. We needed Ben, we had a chance to turn him around and make a great story out of trhis and potentially win a flag but we folded like we always do.
Alot of people in my family wanted this and I know I doubt i will renew my membership. Because the St Kilda Footy club just left ben Cousins at the Alter. We will have a massive drop in membership amidst a finacial crisis because of how far we took this. 1 flag in 130 years is a disgrace and it's because of the muppets that run our club.
He wont play footy and he'll go back to drugs and we as a club could have saved him from that.

We need to just deal with it and move on the "If" question would drive you crazy. Also if cuzz goes to bris and plays that dosnt mean he would of play as well with us. So decision made lets move on and focus on the young kids we are going to get in the draft to win us the the flag

Great decision by the club, we should be proud that they made this decision. As much as it hurts you guys, the simple question is this. 'Would you invite a person addicted to Ice into your family? Im sure ALL of you mature enough to understand this terrible drug and the things it does to people would answer a strong NO.
I dread the thought of one my children being drafted to the Saints at 17 ala Jack Steven and then being influenced by someone under the power of this horrendous drug.
We have a duty of care to our supporters, players, parents of players, siblings of players and our staff not to knowingly expose this type of thing to them.
Lets keep building so that when Roo and co are late 20's we are super, super strong.

threatning to not renew your membership over something like this is absurd. what would you, i or any other punter know that the ST KILDA board doesn't? i think they are in just a SLIGHTLY better position to make a call on this subject than you and are.
