Absolute bulls**t

He may be a knucklehead, but is one oif our most important players

Are you sure? Is he really that great or was he just good while he was under the radar and wasn't 'found out' yet? He just proved he doesn't give a shit about his responsibilities at all for the Collingwood Football Club, let alone as a leader. These type of 'blockbuster trades' happen all the time in other professional sports and we could command some serious talent for him.

Or we could just sit here bitching with this look on our face > :( turning into  back to :( then a little more .

I'd rather some :D if you know what I'm saying.

Don't get nowhere without being bold, we are the case in point for this argument.

I'm for suspending him for a week (after all, unlike Didak I'd expect Shaw did actually break team rules), but trading him? ROFLcopter!

He's a good player who will never win us a flag. He's a B+ who would command an A+ price tag being 22 years old.

But continue being narrow minded.

If he won't win us a flag there are only 30 in the AFL that will. So unless we can draft the ****ing AA team I suggest you calm down and think things through. Player X "won't win us a flag" "isn't a premiership player" is the most overused phrase in the football world. FFS very ordinary players can be contributing players in a premiership side let alone good players.

If we trade him as part of a package deal to get a Brown or Kerr it is just saying we want Kerr/Brown not that we are serious about Shaw's indiscretion and getting rid of it.

We have to prove WHAT and to WHOM?

Tell the outsiders asking our Club questions to go and get frogged. We will deal with this our way...... um however that is we don't need to answer to anyone else but ourselves.

This thread is already so indicative of what is wrong with the Collingwood Football Club and it's supporters. The mere suggestion of a player that has just committed a serious crime worthy of police charges that he will be found guilty for, the possibility of shipping him off for such a misdemeanor is raised and met with more outright indignation than the actual act was.

It's not healthy to breast feed a 22 year old. He should feel that his arse is on the line and being moved on is a distinct possibility... not swept under the carpet just because he can play football.

This is completely outrageous, we already lost one potential captain due to drink driving in Darren Millane, Heath Shaw becomes the 3rd drink driver on our list in recent years and was nearly 3 times over the legal limit during the football season, during the most important part of the football season when our finals is at stake.

And we about our DT and SC and him playing on the weekend and it's totally unacceptable to suggest that perhaps equally talented players of better character should be on our football club list?

Spare me.

I don't think it will prove anything. I don't think it will stop Johnny Draftee doing it again. If we use H.Shaw to get J.Brown and the coaches/staff say "Look at what happened at H.Shaw now he's gone" then they look at J.Brown and realise the real story and just dismiss it.

H.Shaw being traded ala Tarrant would really send a message.

Either way my opinion stands that:
1. Heath Shaw is a quality young player that IMO we cannot afford to get rid of.
2. If it is for a "big fish" it sends no message.
3. The message is crap anyway.

Do you really think player movements will stop a player from making a mistake in the future? If we wanted to send the message you seem to want to send, then we'd delist him.

Another laughable point is the player you suggest we trade for is Daniel Kerr who is no off-field angel himself.

Read the memo, he's not as good of a footballer as you think he is.

Hype>>>>>>>output.

His 2008 has been sub par, he has not risen to the challenge of being tagged whatsoever.

What the **** do you want him to do? Mick's reluctant to move him. Kind of hard to shake a dag playing solely in the defensive 50 as a defender, don't you think

For the first time since forever Mick moved him last week and what do you know; he racked up the touches and kicked a couple of goals.

ROFLMAO! This is the most ridiculous thread I've seen in a long time.

Winty-esque in stupidity.

You know what, you're right. I totally forgive Heath Shaw, he is just a kid and is the most brilliant footballer I have seen in a long, long time and therefore is immune to being held accountable for his actions in any way, shape or form and he will always have a home at the Collingwood Football Club no matter what he does.

So.... Ben Cousins anyone?

We have to make and example of this boozing, shambolic discgrace to the Collingwood jumper. However, I maintain that you can't simply blame and punish the individual, you have to look at the family and the up-bringing; that is why I advocate that we punish the entire family by suspending his turn-over-merchant cousin for the rest of the season and trading him at year's end.

It's not just for a message, Shaw is way overrated anyway.

You're not God of all opinions and automatically right because your name is displayed in bold letters by the way.

In fact, you are displaying profound immaturity and narrow-mindedness at this point in time.

Heath Shaw still has a hang over and he is forgiven by most here... this is why we stand where we stand.

How am I displaying profound immaturity? I just think your suggestion is ridiculous. I have outlined my reasons and elaborated on them. Don't use this moderator crap against me, I'm not an employee of Bigfooty, I can still use it to voice an opinion.

Shaw being overrated is slightly irrelevant. If you are trading him because he's overrated you are not trading him because of off-field issues.

Also I forgive Heath Shaw because I'm a pretty forgiving person. Personally I think he should suspend himself.

I definitely don't forgive him and to be honest am bitterly disappointed. I hope that something serious is done but not sure if I would sign the trade forms.

I heard on Fox Sports in the lunch room earlier a quote from Scott Burns. He said "I am so angry right now that if we were playing St Kilda tomorrow and he was being roughed up by the opposition, I wouldn't go to his aide". That is a pretty harsh thing to say in my opinion and should hopefully hurt him pretty bad.

I heard on Fox Sports in the lunch room earlier a quote from Scott Burns. He said "I am so angry right now that if we were playing St Blunda tomorrow and he was being roughed up by the opposition, I wouldn't go to his aide". That is one of the stupidest comments I have ever read, ok Heath is a Bloody idiot but lets not offer him up as a sacrifice to the saints to have a go at.

That was just dumb Scotty, plain old fashioned Dumb.

A very creative thread, SirLothie. And fun to see some ruthless, "we're only in it for the premiership" posters defend our darling, even as he threatens team morale and status.

Of course we should at least consider trading him. According to many threads posted recently, our cattle are so poor we have damn all trade value. But Heath is prime beef, so we'll get value in exchange.:thumbsu:

BUT...... if anyone actually did try to sell him off, I'd be the first to cry, Hold! Enough! And I'd help drag him back to the Lexus Centre by his red locks.

I thought that was well calculated to hit a not-very-bright boy dead between the eyes. In fact I though Burns showed to great advantage. He's been very good on-field, but that was the first time I've seen him do something difficult as a captain off-field, and he was impressive. He had a Buckley-like demeanour.

I think this show of unequivocal leadership couldn't have come at a better time. The lads should be on fire by the weekend.
