News Tigers spring into action with new look

I guess the Melbourne supporters need some form of entertainment. It must be hard following the most boring club in football. They don't even have the draft to look forward to because the went all out for an arrogant underachiever in Clarke. At least there are actually some interesting developments and discussions going going on at Richmond and in here. Christ Melbourne is an irrelevant, lame club.

its sad in reality...

Gotta say, it's probably the best of the new stylized logos out there but the old one had an iconic value only matched by Collingwood. It's a shame to see your old logo go but AT LEAST it isn't hideous like the Lions etc.
I'm not sure if the Lions logo is based on the paddlepop lion or on Cameron Ling.

real supporters would say if it has the words richmond and tigers it is perfect.

it has a tiger one it with RICHMOND !!! BEST LOGO IN THE AFL !!:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Am I alone in thinking that this new logo brings some pressure of success?

I mean what's the point of changing from an old logo (and better one in my personal view) to get away from the stigma of mediocrity if you're just going to continue to be mediocre?

oh and for what it's worth I hate the new thing

iconic as in 15 years old:eek:...the club goes back to 1885...it has as much value as yesterdays newspaper

I think Keith Miller's famous quote sums it up pretty well...

Miller's wartime exploits were to give him a greater sense of perspective when he returned to the sports field. When asked many years later by Michael Parkinson, about pressure in cricket, Miller responded with the famous quote:[103][104] "pressure is a Messerschmitt up your arse, playing cricket is not".[103][104]

I think we can put 'playing footy under a new logo' in the same category as playing cricket in this case ;)

The fans may be jumping to all these conclusions about associating the old logo with failure, etc. But I am quite sure it will be the furthest thing from the coaches' and players' minds.

Youre kidding right........the numbers......fmd better get some more petrol to sniff for me

No, I'm not kidding. I'm surprised you don't know what colour the numbers on the guernsey are, given you're a big enough fan to be in an online forum.

See, white.

I feel the new tiger would look even more cartoonish without the white.

I don't get this "my kid said it looked like the paddle pop lion" thing. I'm a teacher, and I've never heard a kid mention a Paddle Pop, let alone the lion since I was 15. In fact, the only time I've heard the Paddle Pop lion brought up is by adults when talking about either the Brisbane logo or the singer from Nickleback.

Bull crap when did our strip have white?

Seriously mate the other one had just as much white as this one if not more.

People just are afraid of change and will find any BS excuse to complain about.

To all of the people whinging about the white in the Tiger... have you actually ever taken the time to look at a Tiger?

In my highly subjective opinion, and with an obvious bias towards traditional logos:

Better than
Crows
Lions
Bombers
Dockers
Cats logo
Suns
Dees
Roos
Power
West Coast
Dogs
Giants

Equivalent to
Hawks

Not as good as
Collingwood
Blues
Saints
Cats traditional

If you compare it to all the recently developed logos I think it's clearly one of the two best. So if we're going to change - and change is always controversial - I think we've done pretty well. Looking at it again today the only thing I don't really like are the vertical stripes on the shield. But if we win 12 games next year I won't give a shit.

If you look at him we've almost underdone the white.

I think people are reacting badly to the black/white because they've never seen the chest of a tiger before. They've only ever seen the head on a stick logo.

The logos really growing on me, one thing that would make it look a bit better would be to make the yellow a few shades closer to orange, I know we're trying to encapsulate the yellow & black theme but I've always preferred the tiger to be goldy orange. Also we really need to get a better animation of that tiger, I hope we bin that soon, it's pretty amateurish.

Well done though to the design team, must have been pretty daunting.

For what it's worth, our CEO played 244 odd games under the old logo. I'm sure he has an attachment to it and would not have made the decision lightly. My view is if he and the Board believe that's way forward, then that's it for me.

The white is definetly more prominent in the new one, even look at the shield, theres a yellow and white stripe going down.

and to the people saying a real tiger has white. ok then lets change to orange and black

Can someone mock up one of these with no white (or red for that matter) on it, to show how ridiculous it would look?

I'd do it myself, but am at work so can't.
