Word on the street is that this deal will get done early or before many others as a lot of other trades may be reliant on it.
Remains to be seen if nothing much at all happens this trading period till the eleventh hour .
At this stage it looks like pick fourteen and Eagles second round picks this year and next year for T.Kelly and a third rounder coming back plus something else.
Geelong then likely to pick up B.Crouch from Adelaide from what they get from the Kelly trade then whatever else they are organising.
Word on the street is if Freo be really, really nice to West Coast they'll pick up 3000 new members.

Wow! so over 3100 points going out or 2 x pick 8 with say a pick 54 coming back. The something else would want to be good. The silver lining would be keeping our future first. I'd like us to keep a second just for my draft interest.

Think he means 14 this year and our 2019 second and 2020 second. I assume the second this year is the 22 from Sydney?

When wells publicly states that 2x Top 10 picks are a starting point we must know they have no intent on negotiating fairly with us.

Really just stonewalling hoping eagles just walk away early and cats can get freo to entice kelly for pick 6+7.

If fremantle want to do that then all the power too them. But thats massive overs for no reason at all.

Would love to see:
Wells shut his trap and get a deal done with the eagles fairly and early (1st + future 1st +24 with kelly and something back.

Or cats stonewall the trade, kelly informs everyone he's going to the draft and wants to get back to WA.

Freo or Eagles get him for nothing. Really dont care who. As long as its sparks some change in the Cats PR department.

Absolutely none of it thus far has been close to "respectful negotiations" that wells seems to request.

What a load of utter rubbish

Have you ever bought or sold a house mate - the seller wants 800k - but the buyer only wants to pay low 700s - they both want the very best deal to suit themselves

All this Romper Room utter nonsense from a stack of Eagles - " oh Geelong aernt being fair " - what a load of utter ccrap

Wells is paid to get the very best deal for the Cats - thats it

Think the Eagles are backing themselves to make their second rounder next season a pick in the mid 30's.
So pick 14 and two draft picks in the mid 30's range or what ever for T.Kelly and two Geelong picks around 50 ish.
Thats what it could end up being.
-one second round pick from this year and one second round pick from next year..= 2 second round picks.Thought that would a been obvious .but sometime I dont speak clearly late on the weekend 🍺🍻🥂🍷🍸🍹

Ok, that would make it better. I thought "second round picks" meant both 24 & 33 this year and around 32 next.
So, 14 + 24 + Future 32 out and a third 54 back... sound reasonable although I would like us to keep the early second.

Two third rounders and T.Kelly back.I am sure the Eagles would like to keep the early second as well. but sometimes you have to give to get so we shall see.

True, The early second pick 24 is quite strategic as it's an early second day selection. I think this year they are permitting managers to work through the night to avoid the early morning day 2 frenzy. Last year worked out well for us. I was really thinking out of self interest as there could be some WA players available at 24 like Rivers, Robertson or Jackson.

what good would that do you. You still wouldn't win a premiership - Freo are a good 3-4 years away from being in a position to win a flag. In any event I've been informed that Freo have got their eyes on a few young guns who more than likely will go fairly early in the draft. For it to be a deal Geelong would want both your early picks plus. Do you think Freo would be prepared to do that and miss out on the young players Freo want to select??

Freo's list profile and where the club is at, i.e. no CEO & a new, untried coach, would (IMO) suggest that a smart move would be to go to the draft again with picks 6 & 7 to get the best young talent available.

They were the 4th youngest team on average in 2019. Longmuir's game plan will take a while to bed itself in. Draft a couple of young guns and continue building a list that can contend in 3-4 years time and hope that Fyfe, Walters and S. Hill are still playing decent footy by then.

Burning low picks to get Kelly, when the team isn't really in the "window" might see them reach finals over the next year or two, if they are very lucky... but I doubt it. Two of their best players (Hill and Langdon) are out the door and their ruck and forward divisions could use some bolstering. They rely very heavily on Fyfe, but he's no spring chicken anymore and has been injury prone in the past, if he cops a LTI they would be up the proverbial creek.

Freo can do whatever they like list management wise AFAIC but I don't agree they should only look years into the future. Hogan is only a year older than Kelly, Lobb two years from memory. Fyfe, Walters, Hill (for now) are in their prime. No guarantee anyone currently on the list younger week be as good. Anyway I doubt they'll focus as much on Kelly as people want them to.

If Kelly changes his mind and chooses Freo, Bell will drive a hard bargain is what I'm saying. Westcoast will look like angels at that point.
That's fair, he might. Wouldn't be the first time someone was swayed by additional coin, or the last.

I’ve seen so many “inside word/word on the street” suggestions, and none of them are the same. Everyone must be on different streets.

We seem to be getting Kelly pretty cheap in this one, anything that doesn’t involve both our first rounders going out the door will be a huge result.

But if what Eagles supporters are saying is true in that once a player picks a team then other teams offers don't matter then why do you care?

Coz WA rulz, all one state, blah blah Vic's are bad?

Anything our team does to disrupt a status quo that advantages the Eagles in WA gets a tick from me.
You need to win something don't you? Such a sad desperate club is Freo that you continue to chase someone that doesn't even want to play for you.

How would you even know mate?

Do you know the conversations that have occurred?

There are a lot of young kids at the Eagles. Chances are the club has in place a swag of support structures for them.

I wouldn't be surprised if the club have doctors on call to provide home visits for the kids and partners etc.

Post retirement position already agreed.

Schools for the kids agreed.

Family. Friends. Flags.

That is the new Eagles mantra and culture developed under Simpson.

What's Fremantles?
I'm sure the Dockers could have those things in place, don't be naive, if he was mentioning Freo because of those things, you would be thinking the same, as in the Eagles have those too.

He won't, but one day someone will get that prediction right...Only last happened 10 years ago. His interview last night pretty much affirmed that he's not interested in the draft. A deal will get done.
If i was a Cats member id say he goes to the W.A side that offers my club the best outcome. his reason to leave the cats is to go back to his home state, the rest is just bullcrap and he wants a more successful side.

Because they were the ones that took a chance on him after so many including the Eagles failed to do.

yeah if Geelong hadn’t picked him at 24 he’d probably still be in the WAFL even now. Even though he was invited to the draft combine, which requires a minimum of 4 clubs to show and interest in him, and even though he was widely projected as a second-round pick.

So should every player nominate a state?

How do you feel about Keith and Bruce nominating the Dogs?

Won a flag without him, he's done two ACLs and he turns 30 early next season. If Geelong thought they had the midfield to win a flag without Kelly's input and goals I'd do that trade, NicNat is easily the best tap ruckman in the league. As good as he is, his biggest value to WCE is merchandise and memberships, imo, he's lost a bit of his lustre not being a premiership player.

I threw this at my WCE supporting work colleagues at the start of the season, to a man, they almost all cried.
you have no idea

Nice one, yes and the Eagles still had the chance to draft him before he was picked from memory.

Freo aren't a threat unless they get Kelly real cheap .....as they say don't draft for now , draft for the future . Getting Kelly could cost Fremantle that chance .

Anyway sounds like Fyfe has told Hill he ain't going nowhere .....
Yeh looks like Fyfe has been watching Geelong, bad example to follow.

They did. And Geelong had an earlier chance too and took Lachie Fogarty.

They deserve to be compensated for him because the rules say he’s basically an asset of theirs unless he delists himself and goes in the draft. But let’s not pretend they were the only ones who saw his talent.

Brad Hill will be a loss as he's a good link up runner. They need better kickers and that talent will take longer to develop unless they can draft ready made recruits (Gould, Stephens, Flanders or Young). Fyfe can get the ball out. They've still got a good core of high picks coming through so it shouldn't take that long if they get it all together. The comp is so competitive there are no guarantees, but just look at Brisbane's ascent. I was looking at some of the Eagles stat's and was surprised at Hurn's metrics (He's elite in 3 category's) and we don't have a replacement.
