They can but in reality thats bad business going against your word. Its called integrity. Short term gains never work out in the long run.

Thats true i was just pointing out that they can. They dont HAVE to trade him.

This screams hawks vibes.

Your hoping Martin and Cotchins premiership year output is replaced by 2 average dime and dozen mids from GWS.

Very similar vibes to Omera, Mitchell
Except Hawks avoided the draft like a plague when they were up and topped up all the way through where as we took 5 picks inside 30 last year and have only traded one player in in the last 5 years in Tarrant as a direct like-for-like replacement for a premature Astbury retirement. Plus we had 6 kids play their first final the other day.

The comparisons between us and hawks is a lazy, uneducated and fanciful one.

If it screams anything it's Richmond 2016 when we traded for Prestia, Caddy and Nankervis to address the glaring weakness in our list.

Of course anything is possible… just the likelihood is low.

Fair point..that we can agree on.
The more players they trade out the higher the likelihood they will so it becomes..simply because then they do have the cap room to hold him for 12 months.

Would think that a 1st and 2nd rounder would be around the mark for each player (Taranto, hopper) give or take.

And Richmond have picks 12, future 1st, 19 and 30.

That’s pretty straightforward

Gws could easily send picks back to Richmond to smooth it out, not necessarily because they have to, but gws will have so many picks after those Richmond they won’t need them in this draft ie 39 and 57. Send those back to Richmond.

They end up with Taranto, hopper, 39 and 57

Gws end up with 12, 19, 30 and future 1st

So their draft hand this year is

3, 19, 21, 30, 59 + what ever they do with their other outgoing players.

Suspect they wouldn’t want too many picks in this draft so it would be about getting future picks or moving 30 and/or 59 up with their other outgoing players.

There is defintely a risk of that. However whilst we have a great coach we may as well have a crack. No coach is hanging around for a full rebuild after already being at the club for 12 years. It didn't work for Hawthorn, but so what, it just pushes a rebuild back 3-4 years, its not the end of the world if it fails and you are coming off multiple premierships.

Collingwood did not trade Treloar for pick 14. Pick 14 was trade for picks 26,33 and 42 to get points for Ugle-Hagan bid. Trelaor was traded for a future 2nd round pick
It was actually a shitload worse than that when you factor in the loss of Stephenson, Phillips and Bosenavulagi and all of the picks.

They essentially gave up Treloar plus those 3 and the equivalent of pick 41 to get them off the books.

Oh, that doesn't even include the 1.5 million that they're paying Treloar to play at the Dogs

In fact it's very similar to what the GCS did with Will Brodie when they gave up him plus the equivalent of pick 34.

To think this bloke was hired to fix Collingwood's TPP, and instead he completely blows it by signing off 4 year and 7 year massive deals for Treloar and Grundy respectively.

Not even the local charcoal chicken shop would trust him behind their till.

Kingsley will know who (if anyone at Richmond) will be a good fit for his new team.

I am thinking we will have to part with 12, 19, 30 and next years first rounder and that may still not be enough if GWS didn't need cap space ... consider if Richmond get these 2 and with (finally fit and recommitted) Dusty in 2023, next years first pick is likely to be 18 or lower if there are father/sons or another leg up to North.

btw Soldo is a far better Ruckman than Pruess who is always injured or reported and only plays one good game in five.

Some truth to this, but the reality is Cotchin's best individual footy was mostly behind him going into our dynasty. In 2017 he became much more team focused and it was amazing in its own way.

Despite that I think both Taranto and Hopper are better players than JOM and although Mitchell has been a great extractor he's never been a big goal kicker etc - something which Taranto can do.

I've got concerns about a 7 year deal for hopper though. I'd prefer he was offered 5 Max and Taranto maybe 6 but who knows maybe that's not enough to get them through the door? Lambert retired with a year to go on his contract due to his body failing so I think he forfeits that money or at least some of it.

Hawks? Who shipped off heart and sole, premiership players for peanuts? And brought in JOM and Mitchell ?

Can explain the difference?

Tarrant BF as 21 in a GF year.. pick 2 … dime a dozen …
