Traded Tim Taranto [Traded to Richmond for #12 and #19]

Seems like him or Hopper are likely to be squeezed out of the Giants. Saints should be all over him.
Reckon Hopper is the one they would prefer to lose if they had to shed one of them. Green basically plays the same Role as Hopper but better and younger.

Hopefully Austin chases hard Taranto or Hooper, either player would be an excellent addition.

Not If you believe what Sammy Edmund reported a couple of years ago
We (Carlton) are only focused on the draft this year and not looking to bring in any big name player (least via a trade anyway)

Don't believe Hopper or TT fill a desperate need for us anyway.

Unless you were planning on paying them with Monopoly money, I highly doubt you’d come close to having the cap space.

Yet another big body for the inside is also one of the last things I would have thought you’d be prioritising.

Developing KPP, wing, maybe HFF, young ruck would be the biggest holes on our list

What would get a deal done to their Saints?

At the rate they are going their first alone may not be enough. I reckon he is worth a pick between 6-10 in a straight swap.

Would be fitting if Essendon got him.

Can somewhat rectify the mistake of picking McGrath over him and therefore feel content sending their #1 to his rightful position in the back pocket...

If they can get a top 10-15 pick for him, that is a win for the Giants, and frees up some valuable cap space, to resign the likes of Bruhn and Green etc
I can't see how one pick between 10 and 15 would be seen as a win.

Yes it frees up cap space but the chances of finding a better player in that draft range would be small I'd imagine.

Giants have very good talent scouts, plus this is a KPF deep draft, they could easily find a 40-50 year old kicker in that range.

The Giants rarely misfire on first round selections

You keep Greene and offload Taranto everyday though. Salary cap relief + pick 10-12 in a space they have depth (even surplus) in.

They'll do better in a bidding war but the idea is sound

Wow I suppose half of Carltons list came from GWS, so you would have reason to think the GWS recruiters are first rate.

I think a first round + selection for either Hopper or Taranto would be a fair deal for any clubs.

I dont know where you got that this draft being a strong KPF draft from? Perhaps you have a look at todays Rookie Central mock draft.

They seem pretty hit and miss to me

Callaghan, Aleer, Bruhn, Stone, Angwin, Ash, Caldwell, Hatley, Bonar all taken in the first round since Taranto in 2016. Most taken before pick 15.

Early days but I would not put my money on a third of those players being as good as Taranto

Yes if you can get something worth while for Taranto it might make sense to keep Greene and off load Taranto. Not for mid to late first though.

Any club would jump at that deal

Sure, aside from Patton, Tyson, Buntine, Hoskin-Elliott, Sumner, O'Rourke, Plowman, Jaksch, McCarthy, Pickett, Ahern, Setterfield and Bonar.

Add Boyd ( because of his short time playing), Sheils, Smith, Mohr, McDonald, Tyson, Sumner, Williams & Stewart to the list.

But clubs have had some sucessful trades with Adams, Treloar, Cameron, Steele, Bruce etc.

I’m not sure someone that old is going to really move the needle much for them though, unfortunately.

Suspect you may be thinking about Geelong. 🤔
