That would explain why Sydney had just re-signed him for two years before Adelaide spent all of trade week needling for him.
To be fair, there are some clubs that sign players who clearly don't want to be there..

Did we have 700+ pages on how our club was being bent over?
Yeah you can. In any case, read through that thread where all those quotes came from. Updates from faith saying Adelaide were pushing for Johnston. We can't get in the ear of a contracted player
Pity nobody at Adelaide shares your view...not the club nor even the fans. You traded out LJ because he didn't fit into your infamous and inflexible 'culture'.... but only after you'd spent the year in Armstrong and Walker's ears telling them to come to Sydney and be anonymous. And we gave you Armstrong, 35, and 68 in the deal.
Now you've thrown the culture out the window by trading for the biggest mirror-polisher in the game and everyone can see that your 'fair trader' reputation is a complete smoke-screen, and your club is only good at poaching. What did you give St. Kilda for Tommy Walsh last year by the way, if you are so fair and measured as traders?
You traded the two picks we gave you for Johnston to steal a player from under another clubs nose. Without us playing our part - FAIRLY - in a deal that you orchestrated by tapping up our player, you wouldn't have been able to go and steal someone else's lollipops.
Now **** off back to Paddo and eat a bag of dicks.
"I wanted to stay in Adelaide at first so I was a little devastated when the Crows didn't take me with pick 10, but I was just excited to be drafted and was looking forward to the challenges ahead."
So maybe another homesick lad. But then again, didn't he just sign a two year extension?
Whom you obviously rated as so untouchable you traded him for Armstrong and steak knives out of pure fear he would stand out of the game and not honour his contract, such was his desire to move back to Adelaide after recently signing a new contract?Yeah you can. In any case, read through that thread where all those quotes came from. Updates from faith saying Adelaide were pushing for Johnston.
Perhaps he decided that a club who offers a two year extension and then puts you on the trade table for a fringe half-back isn't as attractive an option as you first thought.......Pity nobody at Adelaide shares your view...not the club nor even the fans.
They even like to Quote young Lewis for reality and accuracy ...makes for better reading than your pathetic pebble throwing.
Have a quick read of what Lewis actually said, as quoted by an Adelaide fan.
Thanx for your valuable input
Yes they always sign extensions knowing they just dont fit in
That would explain why Sydney had just re-signed him for two years before Adelaide spent all of trade week needling for him.
So, why did Sydney trade him then, seeing as he was contracted?
And for the record, we offered Armstrong a contract, so I'm not sure why people were saying he was going to be delisted.
Well, you see, just like with Jolly we wanted to help him get where he wanted to be with a minimum of fuss.
You work on that "perhaps" stuff.Perhaps he decided that a club who offers a two year extension and then puts you on the trade table for a fringe half-back isn't as attractive an option as you first thought.......
Or you needed the picks we were offering so you could sneak Walsh out from under St. Kilda's nose and threw LJ in to get it done knowing you had someone lined up to take his place.Well, you see, just like with Jolly we wanted to help him get where he wanted to be with a minimum of fuss.
Right...
I'm sure you would have been just as accomodating had he been your highest paid player at the time too.
Or you needed the picks we were offering so you could sneak Walsh out from under St. Kilda's nose and threw LJ in to get it done knowing you had someone lined up to take his place.
But no, no, please keep going with this fantasy of how we tapped up a freshly contracted player that had no way of joining us other than you trading him, purely out of the goodness of your hearts, and not in any way so you could finalise poaching one of our players and snaffle one from the Saints as well.
You work on that "perhaps" stuff.
We'll work on reality thanks.
Dont bother trying to get my attention again with your 12yo trolling.
If you want to troll, at least do yourself the courtesy of executing it properly. When you open the other eye and stop complaining you'll realise that Sydney have been rather generous of late and perhaps, just perhaps the AFC know this, and the guys that matter from both clubs dont have such short memories.
I'd be more concerned about why my club is making guy who wants to be elsewhere, our highest paid player.
what if you highest paid player strung your club along for 3 years, made them look like absolute fools after deciding on a totally different club, in turn screwing the club that put so much time and effort into him, and have his manager come out and try to make sydney be nice and make sure everything went fine and dandy.
would you be alright with that and be willing to make sure everything went smoothly?
Im amazed at how many pages this has got. Hoepfully this crap ends soon.
I'd be equally as concerned about my club, which prides itself on its culture, making a new guy who has had nothing to do with its success the highest paid player on its list.
Why replace him if he's under contract? Just don't trade him. Your point is redundant. How dare we try to replace a young forward with a young forward. Anything else?
