Seriously? I wonder if that works for other things in life......'Sure the price of that car is $40,000 but I only want to pay $10,000'

Sure the car might be worth $40000,
But the owner is insolvent and it is going to auction with no reserve,
I'll bid $10,000 knowing that it has to sell otherwise the creditors are going to take it away and give the owner nothing.

As others have pointed out, this is a bad analogy. Better is something with a use by date. Go to your local Supermarket - the regularly sell meat and stuff like that at half price to clear it. Kurt has a use by date.

You're going to need a new Bigfooty name! And yeah Tippett really ****ed over Adelaide by saying he was leaving, if he wanted to get the best deal for the club he would not have said that.

"Jeffrey Rosenfeld, a leading neurosurgeon, states that three lifetime concussions should mean that the athlete not compete or train in contact sport again."

He suffered 3 in 5 weeks.
Now we are getting there. Can you copy and paste that everytime one of your supporters complains about what they are getting in this deal. A player that should have already retired apparently.

But if at 5pm it is going to be placed on the back of a tow truck and taken away, never to be seen again, at 5 minutes to 5 that 10K will look better than nothing...

But unlike the Tippett situation, every other interested customer is not told they can't have the car. Demand drives price up.

Perhaps a silly analogy but bottom line is the poll on the Adelaide board shows ~85% of fans would rather he go to the PSD than get reamed. It would not be unprecedented either, Port did it with Nick Stevens and went on to win the flag. AFAIK Port haven't been screwed over by anyone since they drew that line in the sand.

It's a poor trade for Adelaide, but they could still win out of it so I'd wait to see what they get. Better to get something than nothing if you ask me. Should they be happy, no, but the draft can throw up some exciting prospects and Jessie White does have talent, and can play. Time will tell.

Good work by Sydney too.

Have Adelaide at least requested late picks as well? Even if they don't use them you at least force Sydney to use their picks in later rounds. Might not have much impact next year but could cause Sydney some problems further down the line

Pretty sure Adelaide are going to give us their late picks as they don't need them anymore. :)

Exactly look at Jenkins he was only a rookie list player that wasn't getting a look in at Essendon.
Due to the fact that they already had 3 very good ruckmen. Hille, Ryder, Bellchambers. Oh and hes younger than White by a fair margin and wasnt languishing on the list for 5 years.
White didnt get a game ahead of Pyke and im talking Pyke early 2011 not the improved version of the 2nd half of 2012.

I'd be surprised if the Crows haven't requested Sydney's later picks rather than White. Once Tippett goes he'll be surplus to Sydney's requirements and with Jenkins and McKernan he's not filling a need at the Crows either - they're doing Sydney a favour by taking him off their hands.

Yeah but fans are irrational, as him going to Sydney via PSD is you getting reamed even harder.
In any scenario, pick 22/3 is better than nothing, despite protestations to the contrary by Crows fans.
Your recruitment team agrees, and whilst they would prefer to get more they have been put in a situation where losing him for nothing is the biggest reaming of all.

Unfortunately for us its more of a "im the only person thats going to buy the car, so either you take the 10,000 or we're going to steal it from you for free"

Let's say we stick with this analogy?

If your $40,000 car is leaving you the car only wants to be owned by one bloke.

But the bloke is only offering $10,000
Your choice is accept $10,000 for your car or get nothing still loose your car and that bloke is still a very good chance to get your car anyway.

What do you do?

Destroy the car

Take this shitty deal or we'll get him to put a huge price on his head that no other club in the league can afford, and then you will get nothing for him.:thumbsu: :thumbsu::thumbsu:

NICE.

Good on Sydney, they see a chance to shaft another club, and they took it.

Picture this!
My neighbour's a good bloke & he thinks I'm a top bloke too because I've always welcomed him over for BBQs etc........!
His wife has left him so he's doing it tough & needs to sell his house. Two years ago it was easily worth $1M. Now in the current market it's only worth 800K max.

Best offer he got at auction was 750K.
Because I'm renting my place & looking to buy, I thought I could kill 2 birds with one stone by buying the house.

I don't want to damage my relationship with him so I offer him the $1m it was worth 2 years ago. I could have paid him 800K max & he would have had no choice but to sell it to me but I really like the fact that he thinks I'm a top bloke.

Yeah right.........................f..k off!

Bad metaphor. For several reasons. Firstly when you buy a car you buy it from someone that owns it. Adelaide do not own Tippett. Clubs do not own players. They simply have the right to them for a limited amount of time with no way of extending that right if the player doesn't agree to it.

Clubs are more like renters of players than owners. They rent a player and control where he plays for X years. At the end of that period if the player makes it clear he doesn't want to be there they have no choice but to either trade or send to the draft. What makes this situation unique is the nominated club has the most amount of cap room and so can get draft him if it gets to that.

Every club risks the above situation of they let a player go into the last year of his contract without an extension. They had bargaining power a year ago. They gambled on resigning him. It didn't come off. It happens to every club.

People think Mike just came out of nowhere he was really good in 2010 infact had a fantastic game in the final against Carlton.

White is 1 year older hardly call that a fair margin!
