Talk about a win/win situation.

mate they have airplanes here, weve all been to Sydney.

Unless somehow you are living on the harbour you live in a grotty, shitty, overcrowded hellhole of a city, where it takes a 3hr commute to get the milk and bread.

Sydney is like Melbourne, except with none of its cultural, sporting or lifestyle attractions and all of the shit that comes from a badly planned, overcrowded city with insufficient infractructure.

So you would rather get nothing for him than get less than what you think he's worth?
I see his logic. Let him go in the PSD and end up at the gold coast. You would think Gold Coast wont be competing with us in the next 1-2 years when our premiership window looks like it might be open. Sydney obviously will, so why let them have your 2nd best tall forward for a player that isnt comfortably in our best 22. We are struggling for spots on our list as it is so we cant accept a bag of scraps for tippett anyway.

Geelong had just won a flag. The player on the higher pecking order deserved a pay increase. Would you be content with TDL getting a pay increase but Morton being left on the same wage?

When you win a flag, the salary cap is designed to curtail spending. Geelong had their hands tied as Mumford was offered a contract Geelong were unable to match. No club could have afforded to poach a Mumford by inducing his salary like the Swans did with the COI crock.

Ditto with Hawthorn and Kennedy.

But we weren't supposed to win the flag. We were supposed to finish bottom of the 8 at best & perhaps as low as 12th or 14th.

That we won the flag on Saturday doesn't automatically give the players a pay rise.

Can't trade shit for sugar mate. Going to have to give up quality to get Tippet in a trade.
Actually, sometimes you can. In this circumstance Adelaide can get a decent player for him by trading or lose him in the PSD and get NOTHING! Tippett has nothing to lose here, either he goes to Sydney with a trade for a decent player and maybe swapping draft picks with ADL's second round pick, or he goes into the PSD were GWS will pass on him since they have a forward line that has shown it will function in the future to devastating effect and therefore end up at GC who actually need a key forward. Sydney don't have to bend over a barrel to get him because they know ADL will have the option of taking what SYD offer or lose Tippett for NOTHING!

This ignores the fact that the worst scenario for the Crows is weakening our lineup and strengthening a rival in 2013 at the same time
GC are miles away from a flag, Sydney will be contenders again next year. Better to lose tippett and get nothing than strengthen sydney going into next year

PING!!

That's better than the Crows had signed up for. Wow.......................second round pick!

This is just brilliant by the Swans! Not too great by the Crows. I guess they were just desperate to keep him for 3 years before GC could get him when they entered the comp but didn't foresee that he may use the clause to get to another top club.

Wow.

Our culture remains intact!!:D

Ohh yeah..............................& we won the 2012 premiership as an added bonus!
Culture isn't something you can negotiate around.

Its a feeling and a vibe more than 'well technically 22 is a second round pick, so we haven't given up our first rounder', more cheap players!'

Tippett's money means nothing, or what you give up for him, its what he brings to the side in training, leadership and attitude.

I can't see how he fits into the Sydney team ethos?

We're definitely rueing and lamenting how he's treated us Admiral Chins, but no one wants to hear your irrelevant little snipes.

If by 'too much' you mean 'not enough' then yeah ;)

Sydney are a good club and fair traders; we have good history - but I can't see what Sydney has to offer us. Hopefully Kennedy goes to Melbourne for a top #5 pick.

Tippett himself - what a prick.

Pretty obvious he intended to go back to the Gold Coast, but they've baulked at his contract demands. Blucher sounds like an arseclown too.

You are just bitter plain and simple and need to get over it, maybe time to look in the mirror why so many of your players have chosen to leave over the past few years and stop blaming others.

We've already gained $1m in salary cap space. In these circumstances, when our opportunity to be fighting for a premiership is coming up, it would be worth more to us to get nothing for Tippett than hand him over to one of our direct rivals for a bag of chips and a can of coke. Piss off.

Yes.

If we can't come out of this stronger, then I'd take nothing rather than weaken ourselves to strengthen the reigning Premiers.
You're weakening yourself by not taking a decent player and 1 or 2 picks. We might stand between you and a premiership in 2013 but it might be the Suns standing between you and a premiership in 2015 with Tippett as their leading goalkicker. Either way you're making another team better. So will you make us more likely to win the 2013 premiership while adding two players to your list (a player from us and the player you draft with our pick) that can make you better or will you make the Suns more likely to win the 2015 premiership and get nothing from it.

If Sydney have offered KT as much money as has been speculated, do you really think they're just going to let him go to another club via the PSD? I'd say offering someone a 4-year, approx $1m a year contract indicates some degree of desire to have the player at the Swans? No?

He wants to go to Sydney yeah? How do you think he'll feel about the big big sound from the west part of town? Catchy tune and they have the first pick in the PSD.

If they don't want him, GC have pick #2. Either way, we're screwing a bloke who screwed us first and not strengthening a 2013 premiership contender that we'll have to play in finals next year. GWS or GC might win one later, but our window is now.

Ergo, everything you posted above is pure shit. Keep Grundy and White and stick the 2nd round pick up your arse, and enjoy the upcoming review into your COL concessions:thumbsu:

Thanks Oprah.

I wished Bock and Davis well; was stoked to see Mattner win a flag with you guys and was very happy for Maric and Knights - but there is a right way and a wrong way to leave a Club.

I don't blame Sydney for grabbing him, but him and his Manager have behaves like pricks.

Consider this a nomination for post of the year

Any proof Sydney used their CoL allowance to inflate Mumford's contract?

Didn't think so.

You repeating a baseless allegation doesn't make it true.

Good luck to the Swans.

The reality is that at the start of the season most people thought they'd be around the 4-8th mark as usual. As late as around six weeks ago, people used their "lack of star power" to claim they wouldn't win the flag.

I can't imagine they have a single player on the $600-700k-plus wages the likes of Cloke, Pavlich, Riewoldt, Buddy are on. I believe Mumford is still on the initial deal he was on when he left Geelong, for example, and is probably getting paid huge unders given his market value over the last couple of years.

It'll be more interesting to see what happens when a lot of their premiership year heroes like Mumford, Kennedy and Richards are out of contract next and have rightful claims to big pay rises.

Bare in mind if they were to sign Tippett on a long term deal, it may be heavily back ended and he'd be earning big dollars after the likes of Goodes, Bolton and O'Keefe have retired.

The real issue is what the Swans will have to give up to satisfy the Crows. Parker's name has been mentioned on the Draft & Trading board - what would Swans fans think about giving him up? I can't see how the deal will get done without trading a premiership player.

You will never get anywhere with this attitude! Seriously you think its better to loss a player and get nothing then so called strengthen ours .... if you are serious you will not even bother wasting the time and energy on worrying about any of your competitors lists and do what is best for your list and that surely is to secure the best deal you can

Its safe to say thankfully for the Adelaide Football Club you are not involved in any decision making because you would send them backwards very quickly with your attitude.
