I'm assuming you mean apart from getting arrested for being a public nuissance?

No doubt Knavey Blue will count that as one of his indiscretions. Just waiting him to list the other 99 now.

He might scrape the bottom of the barrel and list that flying baseball bat!

Thats only 98 to go, Knavey Blue... c'mon... we gave you two for free, get listing!

yes gabbaman

(a) need options, (will dilute Brown's dominance)
(b) we didn't see anywhere near the best-of in '10, a fitter, more mobile, able to jump Fev could make all the dif.

He seems to still be in Browns good books.

You would think that if he really was a negative influence around the place then Brown would not be friendly towards you.

Who cares! If he stays, good he's more than a handy player. When did the club recruit a bunch of children (Fevola excluded)? Most people 18 or over are capable of making their own decisions and are not going to do stupid things just because another is doing them. The fact that Fevola has been made such a public example of should provide sufficient reason for the rest of the team to be on their best behavior. Even if a few players muck up, it's an extreme overreaction to somehow bring it back to Fevola. The whole 'negative influence' argument is a complete load of crap.

very well said :thumbsu:

If hes never going to play again, best outcome (if possible) is to drop him for contract breeches (if they exist) and (hopefully) not have to pay him out. The extra cap space will allow us to secure Rich, Clark and the berger and we will be well on our way to a promising lions future :D

Contract breeches?

No from me. Cut him loose. He can go back to Melbourne to his family...and CentreLink. What do we achieve in real terms by keeping him??? Will he win us a flag.....no. Will he help bring young players through....perhaps, but not positively. His place on the list keeps a young player out; the money has to be paid him anyway, so get rid of him cause I'm telling you now, he ain't going to get his act together.

What do we gain by keeping him???? Answer me damn it!!! ;-)

Im sorry, but he is worth it for his ability to win games. Every time i ask myself the question of is Fev worth that much money, i remember back to the Collingwood game last year, and the look on MM's face as Fev kicked those goals in the last quarter. Brings a smile to my face.

This is the most well informed statement I have seen on Brendan. Match winners like him come along every 20 years or so. Ok he has issues but keep in mind if he did not have issues we would not have him as a player. The worst thing he has done is get plastered at the Brownlow. We all saw that yet we still did everything possible to get him. What is the worst thing he has done since being with us? Drunk on new years eve? How many Afl players would have been in this situation but not been targeted by all and sundry? Let's not mention St Kilda players, Bulldogs or others including Rugby League who have done far worse . If Fev had done any of those things he would be hung drawn and quartered.

I have heard so called experts saying that Browny would be better without Fev. Have these experts not seen Brown being doubled and tripled teamed for years? Having a player of Fevolas Ilk on the forward line not only gives Browny a 50-50 contest it also frees up say a Staker at half forward. This worked beautifully for the first 5 games until injuries decimated us.

And also well said Passionate Lion – and welcome.

But with the location of Hanging Rock shouldn’t you be following the kangaroos? ;) [re recent horse racing program cancelled there – just kidding]

YES
When he is on, he is on, as mentioned earlier the game against Collingwood last year, I just cant get the image of him grabbing the ball on his hip wheeling around and slotting it through off the right foot, that is vintage Fevola, and yes vintage Fullforward football, only a handful of players are equipped to do that sort of thing and he is one of them.

So again YES

No.

Caro.

BRISBANE Lions will sack troubled footballer Brendan Fevola within the next few days. The Lions could make the official call as early as Monday, having held high-level talks yesterday at AFL headquarters.
Contrary to recent reports, the AFL yesterday confirmed it would use its discretion to relieve the club's salary-cap woes by spreading Fevola's seven-figure payout over two years, as it did with St Kilda last season when Andrew Lovett was sacked.

About bloody time...best news all night.

It was not a difficult decision. His mood swings were proving a massive distraction to the youth-led path Voss has been forced to take, and influences like Fevola - who can lead the pack on his charm as soon as shun it - were damaging.

And here I was thinking what a positive influence he was on our young players.

the view from Brisbane is that the club is not a rehabilitation facility and the fortunes of the Lions' playing group had to be placed ahead of Fevola the individual.

No need for hindsight here, but what a smashing decision to recruit for this guy, when most knew what a disaster this would become...top effort, Allen, Kelly, Bowers and VOSS!!!
