AFLW 2024 - Round 6 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
If a Club is only a Good KPD away from being a Legit flag contender, they should just go for it.Would be surprised if the eagles get an offer which they would think is worth letting him go for while contracted.
Turns 28 this year so likely only has 3 or so years left at his peak. Any club spending high first rounders on a potential 3-4 year player unless they are Gary Ablett level is just poor management. If he was 25/6 and had an extra couple years, no problem but at nearly 28, even with our deficiencies I wouldnāt want port parting with a top 10ish pick for him if we had one.
No current season stats available
Im not entirely sure Barrass would want to leave WA as bad as the eagles are
Hes won a flag and openly talked about being content reaching that pinnacle
If the offers that big which it would need to be, its probably not the worse loss if your getting their 1stIam fearing we are losing him to Sydney they have made another big pitch to him about living there.
Sydney was speaking to him last week, they are really pushing strongly for him.
Its dangerous letting him go but also an opportunityCan lockdown or play as an intercept defender, excellent overhead and a decent kick too.
Sydney were keen before he signed last time & would be an absolute dream fit for him now. What would they be able to offer?
Our KPD stocks are a bit bare without him. It would have to be a pretty good deal to warrant us moving on our surest chess piece in the spine right now beyond Allen.
Only need to look at the Adelaide game. Gov, no Barrass, Edwards all injured. Our mid Sizers in Hurn and Rotham also gone injured. We had our 3rd tall Waterman lined up to play at CHB until he also ended up in hospital, so our only recognisable tall was Bazzo in his second year and we had to throw Oscar Allen back.
Would be loathe to lose Sheldrick. Its dangerous letting him go but also an opportunity
Allen
Kelly
Barrass
Yeo
Are the only guys that could net some decent return really. Gov maybe as a FA could be ok
Id say hes worth an equation to pick 8-12 eagles imo will want to be more at that 8 range if theyre letting him go imo
Eagles will also need to think smart and recruit another KPD. Govs at his end, bazzo not ready and H.Edwards hasnt dome anything and there isnt much else as youve said.
Maybe DGB is an option. Pick 4-5 may be happy to take Curtain there aswell albeit wont be ready
Could be something around
Swans 1st (If around ~4) + Sheldrick
Barrass, Eagles 2nd, Eagles F2
If he were uncontracted and wanted to walk, then yes.Would be loathe to lose Sheldrick.
Perhaps Swans 1st for Barasss and Eagles 2nd
May not have the choiceWould be loathe to lose Sheldrick.
Perhaps Swans 1st for Barasss and Eagles 2nd
If push come to shove , Sydney will offer the 1st round pick straight up.If he were uncontracted and wanted to walk, then yes.
As it stands, Sydney are trying to get a player who just signed a 4 year deal to move.
All the cards are held by WCE in this instance and Sydney would, in reality, need to pay more than 'fair value' for WCE to agree to let him go.
That's on the proviso that WCE don't decide to let him go for less, if he does decide to request a trade, for 'loyalty' reasons. WCE do have a history of letting some players go for unders, as well as paying over, to help them get to where they want to go.
If this is real
I think Swans would offer our 1st this year (probably 4-7 range) straight up
Yea I think the more reasonable offer is to split the first make some sort of offer from thereNo way are Sydney offering a pick that good for a 29-year-old.
Didnāt West Coast want a first or early second rounder for Rioli. Contracted Barrass they probably want 3 first rounders
He is October 1995No way are Sydney offering a pick that good for a 29-year-old.
He is October 1995
So for season 2024 he will be 28
Plus contracted for further 4 years
Got to pay overs
If sydney believe he if one of the final pieces of puzzle, then they will pay the price we have enough 18-22 year olds in the team, due to our heavy drafting strategy of previous 5 years
Depends how far away the Swans think they are from a flag.No way are Sydney offering a pick that good for a 29-year-old.
Donāt think you have to pay overs if the club is shopping him around and he is open to a move.
When did he become a 29 year old he is 27 turning 28 this year stop lying ?No way are Sydney offering a pick that good for a 29-year-old.
When did he become a 29 year old he is 27 turning 28 this year stop lying ?
When did he become a 29 year old he is 27 turning 28 this year stop lying ?
OmgYes, and the Swans would not have him this year. He would be closer to 29 than 28 by the time he plays a game for us
