Speculation Tom Barrass [UFA 2027] - Reportedly headed to Hawthorn

Regardless of whether Barrass comes across or not, the main change with Battle joining us is that Weddle will be released up the field.
Weddle is a true utility, can literally play any position on the field except for 1st ruck and small forward.
I would love to see him up on the wing and taking a few centre bounces.

I still think a deal gets done (F1 + F2, maybe with a F4 coming back to us with Barrass), but if it doesn't, we have a healthy Blanck to step into the same role, and a young McCabe developing as well.

Weddle has dash and reads it so well, would do well as an oversized defensive winger that can fly infront of KPP's and mark the footy

Yes I agree with this too, you pick your battles with these players and have to weigh up what is an agreeable value rather than fair value

The majority of Hawk fans I'm hearing from would be OK if we miss on Barrass due to WCE being unreasonable.

At this point, it does seem likely that the clubs are just a way apart in their valuation of him, and it would be better for Barrass to be shopped to other clubs in Melbourne if he wants to leave. Saints pick 8 would get it done.

The only reported offer is an F1 F2 for Barass and F3.

We would've taken 14 and F2, but them blowing up the earlier deal likely pissed off a few people, so I expect them to have to pay up.

we folded because "we had to honour our commitment to baker".

We'll try and force Hawks into the same situation with Barrass, but they'll know we are push overs and wait for us to just fold again
