I think Essendon might be willing to trade him for the right price. Paddy Ryder is a much better player when the number one ruck and Bellchambers can't play anywhere but ruck. So to you all what is he worth and who would your club be willing to give up.

I think it's a possibility worth looking at if we can get a good midfielder or someone with good disposal in the back half. For the right price only but interested to see what people think he's value is. If we want someone decent we need to trade someone decent.

Justin Madden maybe Kramer although they did not really trade back then different system. What's he's worth Kramer? I believe Ryder is our best ruck. It would be a brave move to trade him that's for sure but we have very little with currency to trade unless people are really interested in Hooker and Pears. We need a quality midfielder and he's one who maybe get it done.

It would take a fairly serious offer to get him, and even then, I wouldn't think Hird et.al would even consider it.

If we keep Bellchambers can we get the best out of both or will one be destined to play below potential as both play better as number 1 ruck? I rate Paddy above Bellchambers and think we can't get the best out of both in the same team could be wrong.

See Cox and Naitanui as a way that 2 top level ruckman can thrive and co-exist.

Antonio that one has worked but both can play forward Cox especially. Bellchambers seems to struggle as a forward only and Paddy does not involve himself in the game. North are an example of a side who have 2 number 1 rucks who don't work together Goldstein and Mcintosh. Think Ryder and Hille have worked well together as Hille can go forward and Ryder when getting involved usually when spending more time in ruck and less forward. With Bellchambers becomes impossible.

When was the last time a club willingly traded a quality young ruckman?

It wouldn't really be willingly. It'd be a trade forced about because he's out of contract next year. GWS are already supposedly sniffing around. I'm sure other clubs will be too. As pointed out in the OP, Ryder and Bellchambers usually underperform when played together, in part because Ryder plays basically only as a forward when they play together. I mean, Bellchambers works as well with Gumby being the second ruck as with Ryder or Hille. As a result of that little problem, the Hille and Ryder combo which is smooth as heck will probably be our combo in R1 pending fitness. So there's reason to be doubtful about Bellchambers signing a new contract as long he's shifting back and forth from reserves. Basically there's a very real chance Bellchambers might request a trade next year/already sign a deal and tell Essendon to make a deal with (x). It's whether we take the risk and pull the pin now and get a likely higher return, or take the risk and hope his forward line play evaluates next season so the problem of Bellchambers and Ryder playing together isn't a problem anymore and so there's no trade at all.....everyone knows Football clubs prefer to take risk #2 to risk #1 so.

Wouldn't that mean that keeping just Ryder would be risky?

So if the Suns offered you Swallow, Bennell and Caddy for Bellchambers you would be happy to turn this down? How can you say who will or won't be traded - I would have thought every player had price.

Bellchambers is worth a selection around pick 15. Very good young ruckman and the way his numbers have improved every year is very encouraging but durability still a concern until he plays a number of full season so not yet worth a top 10 pick even with his notable development.

My point is he maybe worth more to someone else than he is to us. Obviously we would be looking for quality in return. I would think there would only be about 5 players if that who are not tradable under any circumstances and I doubt he's one.

Surely we cant play Ryder, Daniher and Bellchambers all in the same team. So he will likely have to go at some stage and the other 2 will have priority over the positions when fit in about 3 years time. I think he would definitely be up for grabs if we were offered a top 10 pick.

Apparently GWS have shown some interest in him but i doubt they would give up their high selections for him. Maybe they would trade the rights to 1 of the 17 year olds for him.
