Carey, Brown and Riewoldt are the indisputable top 3 the rest you can argue about.

Ahh nah.

You say indisputable. Yet in the last 10 years alone you could have Tredrea, Richardson and Franklin, not to mention the likes of Kernahan and Brereton ahead of Riewoldt and Brown. Brown in particular is often rated for what he can do rather then what he has done.

My List for the last 25-30 years:

Wayne Carey
Dermott Brereton
Stephen Kernahan
Bernie Quinlan (I will just sneak him in)
Nick Reiwoldt
Lance Franklin
Jonothan Brown
Warren Tredrea
Matthew Richardson
Barry Stoneham

Carey may well belong at the top of teh list, still sickens me to put such a complete douche there though

It is best player list - not best bloke - a lot of great players were complete douche's - does not take away from how good on the field they were.

Tredrea has been overrated massively in this thread. His best was exceptional but he didn't achieve a level of consistency (injuries to blame) to claim honours over Brown and Riewoldt.

My list

Carey
Brereton
Kernahan
Riewoldt
Brown
Richardson
Tredrea
Franklin
Hall
Lucas/Lowe

Although most only remember him from post 2000 when his shoulder was shot, Nick Holland should be in consideration! Gun mark. Second best CHF to Carey in that era. Would hate to think the number of frees he would get if he played with modern arm chopping rules!

All-Australian 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, robbed IIRC 2005.

If you think realistically though Hawkins is unlikely to even remember some of those players like Brereton and Kernahan play at their best.

Lol, this site is funny.

Tredrea acheived about twice as many individual honours as Matthew Richardson.

It's a lot easier in a strong team. Richo's individual stats are every bit as good as Tredrea's if not better. I'm rating the players purely as footballers.

Tredrea had 5 or 6 very good seasons but due to injury didn't perform at a level close to that in other years. Richo kicked 800 goals dont forget.

My List:

1. Wayne Carey
2. Dermot Brereton
3. Jonathon Brown
4. Scott Lucas
5. Chris Grant
6. Warren Treadrea
7. Lance Franklin
8. Barry Hall
9. Nick Reiwoldt
10. Barry Stoneham

I have serious man love for Scott Lucas - but he can't be above Tredrea or Nick Riewoldt.

Fair enough.

I don't have a massive problem with your list, just would have Tredrea higher and Brown shouldn't even be in there. Franklin being only 25 should get near the top two or three by careers end if he keeps playing well.

Hey Port fans; want to do this dance again? I had a ball last time. :D
