I'd suggest Kennedy is undroppable too.

Yeah probably Franklin, Tippett, Mcveigh, Kennedy, hannebery, Grundy, Richards, Jack and a few others are close to undroppable barring some miraculous turn of events

I think that is a fair analysis. If Mitchell has a bad game and Bird has a good NEAFL hit out, their roles will be swapped.

Bird V Mitchell is the biggest one on one battle for selection in the whole Swans squad.

I believe that Longmire is very reluctant to pick both Bird and Mitchell in the same 22 if Parker and Kennedy are available . The only time it's happened recently is in the wet, where pace is not a big factor.

I think the three inside midfield extractor theory is the only way to look at Mitchell's and Birds prospects. It's as clear as the cricket test team philosophy of picking three quicks and a spinner, which occurs 90% of the time.
I think that Birdy might have to hire Tonya Hardings boyfriend in order to get back in the side.

Horse praised his spread and ability to run out the game. Screw the disposals and goals!!
Or the fact that he lead the Swans in the clearances today.

What I've liked as much is his presence frees up Parker and JPK to move forward more often giving us more options and causing match up problems for the opposition.

Our midfielders all improved when Mitch Duncan went off the ground. Tommy had a terrific second half but I need to watch the first half again.
We were slow!

Hai Horse!

Suburb games from Parker, Mitchell and Kennedy against Geelong. Our leading three inside midfield extractors had over 90 possessions and 9 goals between them.

I think it's going to be very difficult for Bird to come back in with Parker, Kennedy and Mitchell proving to be so effective.

Great for Mitchell to get his three goals from kicks from around the 50m arc.

Bird is now depth, pretty good player to slot in if one of Kennedy or Hanners gets injured or they need rest.

I think that Bird is definitely a depth option if Kennedy or Parker need a rest or are injured.

If Hanners was out they would probably pick a quicker player. I get the feeling that Longmire would be itching for Brandon Jack to come in and play a good game as Longmire is in love with scintillating pace.

I think McGlynn's performance as an effective tagger on Selwood has also made it more difficult for Bird.

I think Mitchell despite this weeks performance, Mitchell needs to keep delivering in a big way. One bad game from Mitchell will see Bird recalled at his expense.

Longmire knows he can get 25-30 disposals i think what Longmire has wanted is for Mitchell to become a more versatile player and hit the scoreboard regularly like he did last night he is safe.

McGlynn as a tagger > Bird infact i reckon had McGlynn gone to Murphy 2 weeks ago we probably win that game.

Just flat really, more complacent with thoughts ahead to next week rather than really switched on.

In any case, TM was exception in the 2nd half and he stuck at it in the first, firing out handballs. He didn't really turn it over much throughout.

Big week for tom

Chance to show what he can bring that we didnt have grand final day when the midfield collectively shat its pants

Hope he has a good onr
