Unsure what the article date has to do with the fact that his family played for the club and he has followed them all his life.

If all this is true, his heart is held by Swans and his partner, with his partner winning that battle (and fair enough) and little to do with Carlton.

Well his heart is physically at Ikon Park this weekend, enjoying good discussions with our key staff and enjoying our facilities.

He's contracted for ages, so he's not touring and talking with us in an effort to get a higher contract offer from the Swans (ie. like what Gaff and Cogs did to several clubs). He's touring because he's keen and motivated to move.

Seems a bit more relevant than a quote of his from 4 years ago :)

The most important part of your post is the part i highlighted, Swans hold all the cards and if Papley decides he wants to leave for Carlton then Carlton needs to satisfy Swans needs. Not going to come cheaply and you would think his manager is going to listen to what $$$$ North are talking and how that stacks up against the blues offer.

This has a long way to go yet imo

Dylan Shiel enjoyed a jet and a holiday on the gold coast with your 'Key Staff ' How did that work out for you ?

Your talking about a contracted player and the swannies are going in dry

Dylan was always out the door. Even GWS supporters admitted that.

Swans fans seem in denial. Paps is touring multiple clubs, spending his entire off season in Melbourne (where his partner lives).

What do you predict will happen?

Cam McCarthy. Ryder. O’Meara.

You're making out like he is already a carlton player and your club will get him no matter what. He could select north melbourne if the money is 150k more and or north are able to satisfy sydney needs better.
If Pap's wants to come to melbourne and he is presented with a north or sydney ultimatum and norths offer is better dollars he is going to say no i want carlton.

Not sure why you are posting names of players , Gold coast got exactly what they wanted and hawks bent over hard getting the picks required

You keep forgetting how desperate the Swans are in trying to get Joe Daniher. I hardly think we will need to sell the farm to get Papley if he nominates us.

No. I never said that. Read my previous posts.

I said if a player wants out, and nominates, he'll get to where he wants to go. Swans won't get a say.

He's coming to Melbourne. That I'm sure about.

If he nominates Carlton, he'll get to Carlton. If he nominates another team, he'll get to that team.

Yeah Did Gold Coast get what they wanted from the Hawks ?
If you pay what the club wants you will get your player - Simple

How many had 4 years remaining on their contract ?

Like I said. You're in denial. He wants to come to Melbourne.

It may not be Carlton. But he's coming to Melbourne.

Paps doesn't have 4 years remaining on his contract. It's a trigger Swans are threatening to activate. Big boy move.

Do you have anything to backup all these claims you are making ? The title of this thread says 2023 and unless you can upload a copy of his contract i think ill go by that but thanks any way

It's common knowledge. Widely reported in the media if you wished to Google. Trigger clause Swans threaten to elect.

It's a trigger.

Good on Swans for using it for negotiations. That's their right.

He's not in Melbourne for a "holiday".

If he nominates, if Paps wants out, it will get done.

Its a trigger ?
has he reached the trigger ?
So the extension has been activated ?
If so he is contracted to 2023 ?

what am i missing here is he contracted to 2023 or not ?
what are you trying to say

So what you are saying is that Sydney dont have a say in this matter and so long as a contracted Papley nominates Carlton it will get done ?

give it a rest

Name a recent player, who wanted out, who nominated a club, and didn't eventually reach the club, same or otherwise, of their choosing.

Go on.

Ryan O'Keefe nominated carlton

Josh Caddy nominated essendon

O'Keefe told Swans he wanted to stay

Josh Caddy wanted a Victorian club. "same or otherwise, of their choosing". He reached a Victorian club. As he wanted.

Next?

Ryan O'Keefe asked to be traded to carlton and carlton wanted him but the swans refused to trade him, I cant be bothered searching but he was also interviewed after he retired and went into detail about it. Just about everybody knows this but maybe you were too young at the time as im not sure of your age.

Caddy also requested a trade to Essendon and until the last minute gold coast refused to trade him unless the bombers traded Hurley. This is easy to find as its not as old but im sure there are others bt at 2.15am i really cant be stuffed

GOLD Coast demanded Essendon star Michael Hurley for homesick Sun Josh Caddy as mediation between the two clubs failed.
The Suns and Bombers met for 90 minutes in front of AFL negotiator Jack Rush but ended up without a deal.

Now Essendon will sit tight for 12 months then launch another raid on Caddy, aware he comes out of contract at the end of next season.
