Too many forward line injuries - season 2012 is over

I read what you guys are saying, but I'm not giving up hopes yet. I am one of those who think that there's still a lot of football to be played. Anything can happen. Upsets can and will happen. I have faith in Woosha, and that we will give a good account of ourselves.

Its not that I dont have faith in woosh or even the players but I just feel that we have hit the wall as far as injuries go and we cant sustain it. Too many games against teams that are in better form than us, I know everyone will say we are in good form but in very few games this year have we played well over the whole game and against better sides it will show. Obviously anything can happen but we will still drop at least 1 more game if not 2 or 3 and its so close that 2 more losses for the year will most likely leave us in 5th with little chance at beating the top 2 or 3 away from subi. I really hope im wrong but it just seams like this aint our year:(

I understand that our hopes have been somehow deflated. But although less optimistic, I still insist that we shouldn't give up hope. Even if we fail, I rather we fail trying our hardest. This way at least we'll be giving our players a good experience to learn from.

We wont make top four and will get knocked out in the semis, unless freo storm into the 8 and we play them in the first week, anything could happen then. All those on here that have said losses earlier in the year dont make a difference to finals are full of shit. That Brisbane loss ruined our chances because of how close the 8 will be come seasons end, had we have won that we would still be second and just about a lock for top 4, 1 win less and we dont make it, thems the facts, sucks but true, we are finished!
One win behind the top three sides, not just one team and the swans and crows have easy runs from now on. and our percentage has taken a huge hit. True some of the teams above us play each other, but three of those are against us! Cant beat crows this week with again only one forward (if Darling doesn't get up) and then probably will struggle against pies at home and hawks away, with hawks on the same wins as us with a far superior percentage, they have a hard run too but will likely only drop one, in the same time we will drop at least 2 leaving us behind them and at least one win behind the pies and maybe 2 behind the crows and swans so yeah its shit to be thinking this way but its just being realistic. We have done an awesome job to stay up the top when most other sides would fall apart with all their forwards out for majority of the year but its at a point where we cant sustain it, so yes I think we are finished as far as top 4 goes, which in the end will mean an early exit from the finals.

F**king get a grip and stop trying to get this board down like you.

all this negativity...i won't have it
learn from last week, treat this week like a grand final..play 4 good quarters of footy get over the line and we a big chance to go all the way

we just have to win this week!! lads need to play with enormous intensity

So reported on channel 7 just then that Woosha has ruled out LeCras from making a return this season. Raising the white flag?

Time to run out the rookies and other fringe players to see who can show even the slightest hint of being useful or to be cut to make way for some more youth. We seriously should trade for someone big I reckon this time, we are close and just a small top up is all we need to go to the last day in the AFL season, not unlike what we did to get Chicky and Stenglein.

The best thing to come out of 2009/10 was the exposure our younger players had thrust upon them due to injury.

Darling, Naitanui, Gaff, Shepard, Brennan, Smith, Hill are all a lot further along because of injuries to other players.
Sure we might not win this week, we may not have won with a full squad either, certainly not out of it, plenty of footy to be played, a lot of teams looking fragile.

We are a team, not a group of individuals. While last week was very poor, it happens and there will be a renewed intensity this weekend, all our players can play a role, it's just a matter of sticking to your task for 120min.

Bring in youth or trade in someone big? Which will it be?

I'm one of the few on here with a grip, on reality, all my posts have been true, maybe not what you want to hear but its the way it is. I would love for us to win all our remaining games and finish top but it wont happen, maybe a small chance to finish 4th but we have all done the ladder predictor and Im sure most of us have us finishing 5th, maybe 6th which makes it very hard to go all the way. Would win our first final unless against freo then could go either way, but after that would have to beat pies or hawks in melb, which is still possible, but then have to beat crows or swans away, again possible but very unlikely. The OP was too many injuries, season 2012 over, so yes it is, not the end of the world, just the end of this season.

No all of your posts haven't been true, you can't predict the future. At the end of every post you say something to do with our season being over, we get it, you think we're finished, no need to keep saying it. Our season is far from over, we are still 11 and 4 with half our side out, that's an amazing effort and if anyone can make the top 4 or even 2 from here, it's us. I know what this side can do, I'm not writing them off until the last 5 minutes of an elimination final.

True I cant predict the future, I can say what I think will happen and that could be right or wrong. We have done extremely well to be 11 and 4 with half our side out, the problem is a fair chunk of those guys wont come back this year, hopefully kennedy can have an impact which such limited time to get match fitness back, not that he needs too much. Lets just wait and see what happens, but I still think unless we can pull off a win this week, top 4 is out the equation.

Barrack hard for the Hawks this week, then the pies have Swans and us away, we lose against Crows and Hawks but finish 4th above pies on percentage.
Its probably a 30% chance but definately possible, alot of footy to be played yet.
I actually think we can make the granny from 5th, providing we are close to full strength and in decent form.

Sydney can't seem to beat Collingwood no matter what.

They haven't beaten them for 8 years or so maybe even more. That could change but I wouldn't be betting on it.

The form they are in, on their home ground ( although ANZ stadium) they are some chance i would have thought.

Well they couldn't beat them there during their GF/Premiership years when Collingwood weren't that good.
They have 6-7 game winning streak at ANZ over Sydney currently
I struggle to see how a strong Collingwood will falter but you never know, I think it highly unlikely.

I just hope we play forward line players forward. Lynch, McInnes, Cox/NicNat, Hams & Hill (fingers crossed), Newman.

Masto to go forward at times as well as he can finish off well. Forward line is depleted, no doubt, but its not all doom and gloom. We can beat the Crows. Hopefully we can ride out this rough patch and have a few guys back for the last two H&A matches and then watch the magic happen.

Both, you got any ideas ? nup didn't think so.
I wasn't offering ideas, I was commenting on your post, which first suggested we delist our fringe players to stock up on youth, then suggested we trade for a big player.

Presumably these things are mutually exclusive - we'd have to trade our draft picks to get a big player, which would limit the quality of the youth we bring in. Unless you mean we should trade one of our big players to get a big player.

With Lynch and Hams back it will make our forward line a lot better than what we saw last week and add in rookie Mcinnes we shouldn't look so bad :)
