He's clearly been better over his career than Brown, also been better than Riewoldt. Has lacked Pavlich's consistency, though I'd argue his best is better than Pavlich's (i.e. 2008).

1. Franklin
2. Pavlich
3. Fevola
4. Riewoldt
5. J.Brown
6. Matthew Richardson
7. Ryan O'Keefe
8. Steve Johnson
9. Daniel Bradshaw
10. Matthew Lloyd

A year ago, Brad Johnson would have been in my top 3/4, but slowed badly this season.

Yes a terrible season from Brad Johnson as the Bulldogs leading goalkicker contributing only 50 goals, 3 less than Stevie Johnson and 27 more than Ryan O'Keefe.
Achieved while playing in the only side to have 6 players contribute more than 30 goals for the season.

Hope 2009 is as disappointing for Brad's goalkicking.

1. Lance Franklin
2. Nick Riewoldt
3. Brendon Fevola
4. Matt Richardson
5. Matthew Pavlich
6. Jono Brown
7. Paul Medhurst
8. Jarryd Roughead
9. Ryan O'Keefe
10. Steve Johnson

BTW Richo not counted as a foward anymore ? Considering he finished 2nd in the Brownlow, and had an awesome season, but i guess he's more considered a midfielder for most

No way is Fevola better than Riewoldt, Brown and Pavlich.

Are you serious?

When Fev is "on" he's on par with Franklin when their both at their best...Fev just lacks the consistency of a Pavlich and Riewoldt in career terms.

Brown is overrated.

If we're talking exclusively about season 2008 then you probably wouldn't consider Richo much of a forward.

1. Lance Franklin
2. Brendan Fevola
3. Matthew Pavlich
4. Jonathan Brown
5. Steve Johnson
6. Jaryd Roughead
7. Nick Riewoldt
8. Alan Didak
9. Robert Murphy
10. Ryan O'Keefe

That's my attempt, and unlike most people here I didn't put half my team's forward line in.

Mathew Pavlich
Nick Reiwoldt
Lance Franklin
Brendon Fevola
Ryan Okeefe
Jonathan Brown
Daniel Bradshaw
Jarrod Roughead
Barry Hall
Steve Johnson
Mathew Pavlich ???
Nick Reiwoldt ???

Franklin and Fevola are both no doubt the best two forward in the competition.

Franklin 2008
100 goals
All Australian
Coleman Medal
Premiership Medal
Club Best and fairest

Pavlich is a choker, doesn't stand up when needed.

Reiwoldt is a great player but doesn't deserve to be ahead of Franklin and Fevola

If your doing a list of top forwards heading into the 2009 season then Franklin sits atop the list with Fev and Pav second and third (not sure about order) and Roo and Brown rounding out the 5.

IMO (admittedly biased) the only way that Pavlich or anyone else has a claim over Buddy is if you take into account career performance and longevity rather than just 2008 and likely improvement for 2009

Medhurst? Seriously? He had a good season sure, but he never has been and never will be a top 10 foward, this year wasn't even his best season goal wise, he can be a very damaging player sure but ahead of Lloyd, Lucas and the like, no way!

I'm expecting a barrage of "he wuz defremantlised lolol" but only Collingwood supporters would think he is worthy of being in a top 10 list.

And I love him as a player, he just isn't THAT good

Didak>Medhurst.

Pavlich
Franklin
Lloyd
Fevola
Brown
Bradshaw
Roughead
Riewoldt
Lucas
then after that there's so many you could throw a blanket over
Didak, Medhurst, B.Johnson, Akermanis, Murphy, S.Johnson, Chapman, Porplyzia, Burton, Motlop, N.Brown, O'Keefe, Milne.

McKinley from West Coast keep an eye on him.

1. Lance Franklin
2. Pav
3. Jonathan Brown
4. Fev
5. Richo (if counted as a forward)
6. Steve Johnson
7. Nick Riewoldt
8. Daniel Bradshaw
9. Brad Johnson
10. Jarrod Roughead

If Richo is not considered a forward then Ryan O'keefe can be no. 10

Was hard to do seeing that when you think of the top 10 forwards automatically you think of FF and CHF players but they are not always the best.

Based on who I'd have in my team going into 2009 (hence B. Johnson and M. Lloyd miss out, despite both being consistently in the top 5 over the past 10 years).

1. Lance Franklin
2. Jon Brown
3. Matthew Pavlich
4. Nick Riewoldt
5. Alan Didak
6. Steve Johnson
7. Ryan O'Keefe
8. Travis Cloke
9. Matthew Richardson
10. Jason Porplyzia

I have excluded Brent Harvey from consideration despite the fact that the All Australian selection committee regard him as a forward...

Based on 2008 on it's own:

1. Lance Franklin
2. Fevola. Was there to kick goals. He did.
3. Steve Johnson. Creative, tons of goal assists. Impossible match up. Brilliant player. Consistent year - rarely beaten.
4. Pavlich. Wish I got to see more of this guy. Imagine if he wore a Collingwood jumper - would be considered the best player of all time.
5. Lloyd - hate the guy but did really well considering the delivery he had.
6. Riewoldt - would have been higher but he was quiet early on in the season.
7. Roughead - call me biased but he only got 1/4 the delivery that Franklin did and still kicked 70. That = A grade performance with D grade opportunity.
8. Bradshaw - year back after a knee reco and does that! Wow. Played reallly well against the hawks in the game @ the GABBA so he stands out in my mind.
9. Porplyzia. VERY damaging every time he played forward. Missed a lot of footy so probably a little controversial - but he is the best goal kicking small forward in the league by a LONG WAY.
10. Robert Murphy. Such an influential and creative player - big part of why the dogs finished third. Stopping him is essential to beating the dogs.

Thought Brett Burton was well on the way to top 10 this year before injured.

Also - can anyone refresh me on who was in the AA forward line? I know Brent Harvey was one but that doesn't count.

Medhurst - forget it. Was Collingwood's best forward and AA HFF, but I don't think he was in the best 10 this year.

Brown - did really well under an injury cloud but if he does't mark it that seems to be it. I think the top 10 forwards offer more than that.

Steven Milne would be the last player i would want on my team

Selfish Selfish Selfish player

Steve johnson is 10x the player Milne is

Why does Pavlich get credit? what has he done as of late

1.brown
2.franklin
3.fevola
4.reiwoldt
5.s.johnson
6.lloyd
7.pavlich
8.richo
9.brad johnson
10.s.lucas
