Logically speaking that's certainly correct, but I'd like to clarify was there more context? He is a moron, but he could have said it in the context that we're a long way down the path with Thomlinson so we won't have the scope to do both deals.
On Schache please pass Collingwood! This guy is so trumped up on the back of his draft position which, IMO, was a talent ID issue. At best his value is in that 20-30 range based on what he did in 2016 and we aren't in a position to pay a premium based on past draft price and form from 12-18 months ago.
WHY THE PIES WON’T LAND SCHACHE
Matthew Lloyd has hosed down speculation Collingwood will be in the mix to sign Brisbane forward Josh Schache.
The Magpies clearly need a young key position forward to help Darcy Moore in attacking 50.
However, after signing the likes of Chris Mayne and Daniel Wells to big deals last year, Lloyd says the Magpies are out of money.
“I think the Collingwood (option) is a good one (for Schache) but they have got no money,” Lloyd said on Trade Radio.
“They reckon they are right up to their salary cap space. My understanding is, they like Adam Tomlinson. He is the only player they may look at through this trade period to see if they can get him on their list.”
Despite last year’s big off-season signings, Mayne and Wells combined for just 13 senior games for the Magpies.
The Lions are said to want two first round picks for Schache.
“There is no way they will get that for Schache,” Lloyd said.
“I think it will be a late selection in the first round. Maybe Brisbane will want a top 10 pick. It all depends on what the interest is.”
Bidding is now done live with the draft, therefore Richmond can trade both picks out and hope to make up the points with later picks. If there is an early bid they'll have to use one of them.

I saw it posted in the live blog on the Herald Sun website:
On Schache for me it depends on the price and how that compares to what we can draft. For example Gary Buckanara further down in that blog reckons Schache is worth a 1st + a 2nd/player, and too me I don’t agree when we could go to the draft and get someone like Balta for pick 6. However, if the deal is more in line with what has been suggested here 6 for Schache + pick 18, which we can either trade (maybe for Tomlinson) or take to the draft, then we have turned pick 6 (maybe Balta) into Schache + traded/drafted player.
It comes down to the points. Two second rounds are worth more than one first round for example and they can use multiple picks to match I.e. they can use a second + a third to make up the points. Also don’t forget they’ll get 25% discount on the points they need as well. If they have their first rounders on draft night and a pick comes in before hand yes they’ll have to use one. But as long as the picks they have at their disposal on draft night can combine to make up the points needed they can still match the bid without a first round pick. That’s why over the last few years the academy teams have either had very high picks or traded out of the first round completely. If naish is bid on by between 6 -9 using later picks wont get it done. They'll have to use a first rounder.
Timed to perfection with school holidays finishing, (hopefully means less silly posts)
Today is the first OFFICIAL day of trading.
Richmond have two first round picks. What are you talking about?
They have two picks in the first round Shpesh.
Lions want midfielders, Tigers have a few spare - Miles as an example.
Think you two are forgetting about a little father/son named PAtrick Naish that Richmond are going to have to use their first two picks on for points.
We have even more to spare.
I'd wonder if we can get it done with:
Brisbane get - Pick 6 and 30 something and 1 or 2 players
Collingwood get - Pick 2 and Schache
What about 6+36 for Schache+18?
Surely you don't have to use two first round picks to match a bid for a father son ? wouldn't you just match the points or use your highest pick after the bid number.
I'm assuming someone is the Top 10 will use their pick for him.
How many points will Richmond need to match that?
their next live bid ? i don't know lol thats what I'm asking
PossiblyThe Lions could involve another team for that pick.
They don't have to do anything. Last time I checked it was more desirable for teams to get value for early picks in trades and then use points from later picks rather than burning them on F/S bids. The most likely scenario is that the Tigers try and package a player like Miles with something to get a deal done imo.Tigers have to use one on Naish don't they?
According to The Moron aka Matthew Lloyd on trade radio n?
If they intend on trading their firsts out, they'll make sure they have enough points to secure Naish. If they can secure a second round pick during the trade period to do that then they will. It might require them to get creative and trade a future pick, but they'll do it if it means they'll get better value than just burning a first rounder on Naish. If naish is bid on by between 6 -9 using later picks wont get it done. They'll have to use a first rounder.
Saints want mids. 8 is worth 15 snd 35.
Ouch.

Yeah, that's not happening. Best case scenario is that we sweeten the deal enough to get Schache + 12. Brisbane aren't giving up pick 2.Think you two are forgetting about a little father/son named PAtrick Naish that Richmond are going to have to use their first two picks on for points.
