Hopefully the club is doing this the right way, and are telling him it is for his own good, considering the issues he has had in the past with anxiety etc...If that's the case, then the media reporting of it has been a disgrace, as they have put the club in a very negative light.
Maybe the club needs to stop being silent on this matter, and they probably prefer to be silent over player trades, but this situation seems it may be misrepresented in the public domain.

The Best Thing for Everyone is the Club to Announce what they are Doing

He's been good for us, on minimum wage for what, 3 years rookie. Payback time. Spread out over 4 may be a benefit to us.
Being on the rookie list doesn’t actually mean you’re on a rookie wage. It just means that $80k of your contract is excluded from the cap. Mihocek hasn’t been on an actual rookie wage since 2018.

Much rather take pick 5 to the draft than trade it for Merrett
Can't see the nett benefit of trading Treloar for Merrett. Slightly different version of what we already have and will give us no TPP relief at all

With AT being pushed out and seemingly wants to stay in Victoria, what do people think of Treloar & Phillips for Oliver and Demons 1st? We probably still need to pay some of Treloar's salary no doubt.
If it went that way, would mind Treloar & Phillips for Petracca. Now that’s an absolute pipe dream.

We won't be getting Merrett in this Trade Period

No thx.

The ruck midfield connection is so poor, could you imagine if we had Nic Nat service. Without Pendlebury or Sidebottom it will get even worse. I want to know if we are so tight in cap space why we wouldn’t look at trading out players like Phillips first.

Rumours are Phillips, Cox and WHE are all on the table. I reckon we are open to shedding some medium sized contracts if circumstances suit us. That's before considering Beams and Langdon.

We are slow, careful and indesicive because that's what our coaches tell us to do. Get the ball then handball backwards and maintain possession.

Of course the problem is made worse when the coaches constantly select slow and indesicive players...

Who are the fast and decisive players Bucks is over looking?

We trade Treloar I’m against it but if it happens

who’s stepping up and getting 30 plus week in week out ?

Agreed. I don't think the intention here is to switch Treloar for Merrett. Either way, Essendon will be so difficult to deal with that we'll end up paying more for Merrett than we get back from a trade on Treloar.

I can see the net benefit in the trade if:

1. We get pick 5 + player. I'd be looking at Brodie here as midfield depth...or go the KPF in Wright.
2. We exchange future first for Bulldogs current first which is 12.
3. We turn 5 + 12 into a top 2 pick to get Logan McDonald.
4. We trade our pick 14 for a player worth around the $600-700K mark. I'm thinking Jack Gunston, but doesn't sound like he is going.

If we get pick 5, and simply on-trade that for Merrett...i don't think it's a huge net benefit, and only serves to disrupt harmony amongst the playing group.

Josh Thomas and Will Hoskin Elliott

Same here. My point is if the Crows get an extra pick after their first we get pushed back to 7 and would miss Phillips!

We need to trade into Adelaides pick 1 or 2 instead.

The Tigers have literally won 3 flags from manic pressure and ugly poor skill footy lol

they have plenty of very good depth players, their list bats far deeper than ours....they attack hard to get the ball then they run in waves....they have plenty of speed, they have very capable ruckmen on reasonable wage, they have the dusty pure class, they have very decent tall forward targets.....we still rely heavily on pendles and sidey, we lack speed, we lack flair, we lack marking talls, we lack exciting players...pendles and sidey have never been quick players....our list isn't fit to carry the richmond sandals....

I don't know why we signed both Treloar and Grundy on these ridiculous, super long contracts. You don't pay a million for a ruck unless he has periscope hands like Naitinui. Treloar's significant shortcomings have been known for a while, namely a poor kick and painted on hands.

He seems like a great guy, so does Grundy for that matter and preferably you don't sign them up for years on end in the first place. That being said, you don't compound the problem by keeping them on.

Get some very high quality kids in what sounds like a decent draft, get Daicos next year, and your midfield is set for years. Two to three star young mids supported by bit part players and you're set for a decade. Still need a tall.

Bring back Sam Murray!

Fast and decisive. Ignore that his decision-making was sh*te on and off the field for a moment ;)
He was a shocker, he would take off like the wind, have a couple of bounces and then come to a grinding halt, and not know what to do with it, but now I understand why, it's because he was peaking off his head

We are looking at our play like Kent Brockman. The other guy is Bucks watching us move the ball.
