So we traded out a 21yr old who has played 54 games and kicked 76 goals for peanuts. Yet we keep a 29yr old Yankee who can't play the game...
Makes sense.
Cox is a good player who has been more than handy. He showed far more than Stevo did this year. No need to kick the team piñata just because you are angry about a ridiculous trade.

Imagine a club ****ing up salary cap so much; they decide to make one of the weakest forward lines I’ve ever seen, even weaker...

Oh wait, we don’t have to imagine that.

Despite thinking we’ve been hammered by the Stephenson trade and potential Philipps and treloar relaxations, the one good thing to come out of this could be the message it sends - and let’s hope this message is all encompassing from Eddie down - no more accepting mediocrity. Maybe this show of ruthlessness will be the catalyst for the transition into a powerhouse once more.
I really hope it is. Nexus atm we look like morons.
Hope you are right

An honest congratulations to you. You guys got an incredible steal. I wish our club could do something like that.

Cheers, that is very gracious of you considering the circumstances. I'm certainly not gunna gloat mate. It might have been a good day for North, but it's a sh!t day for AFL football.

A coach throwing his own players under the bus in the media to cover up for some appalling administrative **** ups is not acceptable at any club.

It's deplorable leadership.

You folks know what has to be done. Mobilise and succeed. Collingwood and AFL footballl deserve better.

Again, it’s not “want” to get rid off Mihocek. It’s the better choice.
I completely disagree. I think chosing to get rid of a work horse (who is no slouch at footy) and is the ideal role model for any aspiring young kid, over a young kid who has to be baby sat (albeit talented), just sends the wrong message.

If you’re Richmond and you are confronted with getting rid of Sydney Stack or Nathan Broad/ Kane Lambert type, who do you punt? The uber talented underperforming kid? Or the guys who work their ass off?

Mr Buckley who pretends to talk like some scholar but then can't call a player to tell him he’s on the chopping block.

I think it underscores that the ‘reformed leader’ story was nonsense. Any leader worth their salt wouldn’t handle a situation like that. I’m so, so disappointed.

Jayden Stephenson - Is a headcase, loves himself and thinks he's made it already. His contract is 600k after he renegotiated after wining the rising star. Collingwood are sick of having to monitor a professional athlete in the gym, he is known to not stick to his dedicated plan to the point of Collingwood basically now having a full time babysitter with him ensuring he does the full gym session. He is known as FIGJAM for a reason and isn't the most loved player at the club. Collingwood are trying to move him for an asset as while he has talent, they don't believe he will ever reach his ceiling with his work ethic and attitude. He wants to stay and beleives he can turn it around, we will only take something valuable for him otherwise take the risk on him growing up from the realisation we don't think of highly of him as he does himself.

I‘m more than happy for you at any time, to challenge my logic or opinion on any issue. I don’t apologize for having a balanced view as opposed to constant criticism as many do here.
I said earlier, you just need to join the dots with Stevo, and then what is your conclusion?
Is it that the club is entirely at fault or that he’s been the major contributor to his own demise? Please feel free to challenge that logic because todays post by theBuckleystophere was only one more dot,

After looking again at the aforementioned post, I see a bunch of information that is pretty indicative of a number of talented young AFL players going back generations. His management was able to successfully score their client a big contract? Happens all the time (particularly at Collingwood, apparently). A 21 year old getting ahead of himself after receiving accolades? I'm not surprised in the slightest.

The bit about Collingwood looking to move him for an asset now seems like a particularly asinine given what we received for him. The post also says that the player wanted to stay. Doesn't really sound like the actions of a supposed egomaniac who is disliked by his peers.

Now, let's say that that all those things posted earlier were accurate. Do you think that those attributes make the situation untenable? Does the player deserve to be pushed out of the side? Let's be clear, there are a number of others who we've had at our club who don't uphold the same standards as the rest of the group on and off field that we've kept.

So who's to blame in this scenario? Sure, Stephenson needs to take accountability for not living up to standards of the club with training etc. But surely the leadership at the club needs to be responsible for nurturing the culture of the playing group?
