If we can’t manage to contract a bloke like Treloar (who wholeheartedly loved the club) on market, or even better yet, under market value, what hope do we have of doing that with a bloke like De Goey?

If our list management team was playing monopoly they‘d run out of money before they even made it around the board once to collect their $200.
Maybe we don't want to do it with JDG just now.

No matter how dodgy a reporter is, they've still got more credibility than our leadership do at the moment.

Two sides to every conversation.
The person being upset is likely to exaggerate in an emotional state.

We need to focus on Adelaides pick 1, it’s apparently up for grabs for a godfather like offer...

That, Nick Daicos and the Bont as a free agent in 2022. Wholly s$&t, we are back in business.

We’ll get Nick, that’s it.

Our draft pick history and who we couldve picked if we had kept them:

2009 - Pick #14 traded for Jolly. ✔
2010 - Pick 25 traded for Krakouer (Acceptable, but couldve had Darling, Parker, Libba)
2011 - Pick 25 traded for Elliott, Clarke and pick used on Witts ✔ (Options wouldve been Yeo, Brad Hill, not much else)
2012 - Traded Wellingham & Dawes for Picks 18 + 20 ✔, took Grundy ✔ Broomhead ❌ and Kennedy ❌ (Passed on Lachie Hunter, not much else)
2013 - Scharenberg ❌ and Freeman ❌ (Passed on Cripps, M Crouch, Merrett, Sicily and several other good players)
2014 - Moore F/S ✔ & De Goey ✔
2015 - Pick #9 traded for Treloar (couldve had Curnow, Hipwood, Rioli, Doedee, Gresham, Burton, McKay, Dunkley, Himmelberg)
2016 - Pick #8 traded for Treloar (couldve had Florent, Simpkin, Marshall, Berry, SPP, Hayward, Ridley, T Stewart, Bolton, Luke Ryan)
2017 - Pick 6 used on Stephenson ✔ (but couldve had Naughton, Fogarty, Hunter Clark, Liam Ryan, Tim Kelly, TDK, Fritsch, Sam Taylor, Worpel)
2018 - Pick 13 used on Quaynor NGA ✔ & Pick #21 traded for Beams (too early to tell who we missed out on, but so far several decent options)
2019 - Pick #18 traded for Beams (too early to tell who we missed out on, but so far several decent options)

  • With Treloar, Stephenson, Broomhead, Beams and Scharenberg departures this year, we are left with only De Goey as a true FRP (Moore and Quaynor were F/S and NGA).
  • Only the Jolly deal helped us win anything, and even then we couldve taken Fyfe, Duncan, Gunston, Gawn and others with the pick.
  • We have used 6 first rounders on kids and traded 7 away, 2 of which were top 10 picks.
Disastrous.

well we gave up Stevo, treloar, atu, and all our second round picks for pick 14.

so off that sound negotiation, 90% of our list should see us net pick 1 🤣

I actually teared up watching the interview with Treloar. He seems such a decent guy and it is hard to believe that Buckley would tell him that the leadership group wanted him gone when it seems this was not the case - or certainly Treloar believes it. He uses the word 'love' a lot in describing his relationship with the players and the club. There is a softness to the man which is very endearing, especially when combined with the story of him coming from a very humble and challenging background and being the one in his family to make good in life.

This and the Stephenson claim that he had to ring Buckley to fully understand his situation at the club cause me to feel even more negatively towards Buckley and maybe even start to wonder if there really is something sinister in the manner in which Lumumba claims he was treated by Buckley.

After coaching junior school teams in a competition run by the Bulldogs in the 2nd half of the 80's, I have always had a lot of respect for the Bulldogs as a club. If I could turn for any club it would be them, but I guess club allegiance is about as difficult to shed as Catholicism is for Catholics or Judaism for Jews.

The other aspect of the article I found interesting is the reported disagreement between Harvey and Sanderson this year. I have a simple solution to that situation - they can both **** off.

Thanks for that in-depth analysis. Makes for grim reading.

Nobody associated with our list management over the past decade deserves to keep their jobs.

Unfortunately I don’t think our 2 first rounders this year and our pick next year. Will get it done!

The whole of BF is pointless in regard to any tangible change for a teams performance, in fact any social media. All of it has near zero effect on it.

The whole idea is to post opinion, not to make change.

The one exception has been the twitter feed where Nathan posted and today has been heavily criticized in it, he may have a realization that some fans are not happy and may act on it. Even then that is unlikely.

Could have got Adelaide's pick 1 this year and kept Stevo and Treloar, if we had traded Grundy last year to them.

Would be in a way much stronger position. And that would have been aggressive!

I'm not referring to our trading decisions - whether they were sound or not. I'm just suggesting that our club is currently talking a lot of shite. I don't think statements from those in charge of our club have more credibility than any journalistic rumour.

This might be wishful thinking, but is there a chance the plan was to salary dump so that only 95% of the cap is used in 2021 and then use 105% of the cap for the following year to recruit a gun free agent?

No. We dumped because we were over. Probably still close to the max.

And trade Mayfair for Old Kent

Should be going hard for the Richmond head of list management, heard him speak today which he did very well.

Clearly he has his sh*t together, that list has lost barely anyone.
But who’s going to go hard for him? Who has the skill and credibility to get him, or anyone of note, to come across to us?

We are not that smart.
