He was waiting for the new coach to be announced. Obviously he is happy with the choice.

Yes it is based on what he produced then but he's nowhere near that form now. So its not ridiculous to focus on his salary / contract length at all if he can't get back to 18 / 19 form and we have 6 more years of his 21 form.
I'm personally not fussed on clangers he makes, I'm focussed on his overall impact. The worrying thing is we had clean centre breaks when Lynch was there agst Melb and I can't recall that all season with Grundy there.
Is there any obvious target to walk through using our pick 2 in the preseason draft. Lipinski, Stephens, Dawson, Weideman etc...
If Jack Martinwho was rated far higher than these options in 2019 can walk to the Blues then we need to exploit this option given our ND position.PLAYERCARDSTART21Jack Martin

The obvious threat is North but how often due clubs select players that don't want to play there.
(Yes I remember Nic Stevens)
I thought he'd bounce back from his form slump last year. Not sure his form started off great tbh. Martin and English towelled him up. He improved after that but not to 18/19 form IMO. Dropped right off in second half.Rubbish. People were sooking about his salary even early in the year when his form was arguably on a par with 2018-19.
We just have to accept that there'll be people that'll never be happy with what he does on-field.
$3m over 5 years, with $1m each year for first 2 (before covid adjustments). How they got him after GC rejected a 2nd and 3rd rounderPretty sure Martin got to walk through to Carlton because they front ended his contract offer so heavily that nobody else would dream of matching. Something like $1.5M in the first year of his deal .
he has great potential. Looked a class above our VFL players in some games... clean, quick, collect, goal. At crucial times too. Playing a niche role, but he certainly has some IT factorI thought Dib looked pretty good in our VFL games for an underager. Had a similar impact as Ginnivan in his early games and better defensive pressure.
Unless you have crystal ball to say Grundy cannot return to his best, then your point is moot.
I would equally argue, that a return to his best greatly improves our competitiveness, and a new Coach may well bring out the best in him.
When Leigh Mathews said in 2019, he was the best player in the game - I think thats speaks volumes per his quotes below.
“When you have a ruckman who can be good in the hit-out part of the game and then get the ball around the ground and be an extra midfield, ground-level player as well, it virtually gives you two players in the one jumper
“He’s the first player I’d pick if you were building a team from scratch.”
Leigh Matthews makes a BIG call about Brodie Grundy! - 3AW
AFL icon Leigh Matthews says Brodie Grundy is the most valuable player in the league and it’s the first time he can remember saying that about a ruckman. While he was well-beaten by Max Gawn on Monday, Matthews said Grundy had been his standout player in the first half of the season. “If I got […]www.3aw.com.au
No some will have problems with the dollars regardless of how well he plays. Puts to many eggs (dollars) in one basket which means you end up with the Treloar, Stephenson debacles.Rubbish. People were sooking about his salary even early in the year when his form was arguably on a par with 2018-19.

Reported on one of the click-baits last night that GCS were offering him a nice retirement packageI thought last year we might have a sniff around Parker given that Ned Guy was his former manager, before it was known just how bad our cap was.
Can't see him leaving Sydney

Our list is the poorer, and we be going forward, because of that contract. How well Grundy plays will not change that.
I think as a "fans base" there's only one thing now that us "fans" should all do. Let's band together (pitchforks and all) and get up a petition that we can take to Brody Grundy's place (when Covid restrictions allow) that stipulates that we want him to re-negotiate a lesser contract or leave football altogether. Threaten him with that and tell him if he doesn't sign on for less...we'll get "really stroppy" and all collapse on his nature strip kicking our legs in the air and chucking a good old fashioned TANTY.
In the words of the great Timmy from Thomastown: He's been "CRUCIFYING" us Tony....and its gone on too long!
They were saying on SEN today that GC hadn’t made him an offer because they have so many players OOC next year that will get pay rises they need to bank the cap room…Reported on one of the click-baits last night that GCS were offering him a nice retirement package
Tom Morris seems to think in his trade chat that walking Lipinski through the PSD would be the best course of action.

God I hope soLipinski and management are leaning towards Collingwood but suspect the 3 year deal from Dogs would be tempting to re-sign.
Just haven't had a chat with McRae. Won't have a meeting, call or even decision until after Dogs are finished.
Bit of a riff between Dogs/Pies after last year, I defiantly believe Coll will use the PSD as leverage.
Ideal fit for us too. Would be a handy.God I hope so
Sounds like Atu.

Short term pain for long term gain. Sucks but had to be done.Saw him in one under 18s match and I think one vfl……fits a need from what I saw.
Another word would be were were bent over backwards and spanked.
That's because no other player on our list is on a 7 year deal. It’s an actual laugh on here sometimes reading comments.
Grundy apart from Crisp is the most durable player on our list. He never misses a game, he always shows up and plays well, even his poor games are good but are just critiqued to the sh*t because we’ve seen him play at higher levels before. $900k/22 games ever year equates to 40k a game.
What makes me laugh is absolutely NONE of you have a problem paying JDG and Moore, who are both criminal in terms of missing games basically the same amount of money.
Moore has missed 17 games over the last 3 years which is nearly a full year or an 850k contract. JDG has also missed 17 games in the last 3 years. 34 games missed combined, which is around 1.2$ million when you combine them together.
If you wanna babble on about ‘hamstring’ contracts that hurt clubs, how about you look at some other players on our list, who frankly, are doing far worse for us, but yet you never hear anyone complain about them.
And to make things worse, I think you could honestly count on one hand the amount of games Moore and JDG have won us off their own accord in the last 3 years. Grundy time and time again has led from the front to pull us over the line. That’s what you pay for with big $ contracts.
