Can see it now, Lipinski & Kreuger the new whipping boys. I still think they'll be handy pick ups as long as we are not giving up any 2nd/3rd round current or future picks for them.

At least 1 3rd Round Pick will be in 1 of the Trades

Talking about Carlton and Cerra on trade radio. If I’m freo, pick 6 is the starting point for cerra. No way you accept that for a player you’ve developed over 4 years and took at pick 5…. mids take years to develop.

Yeah agree. He’s been developing nicely and you know you’re getting at worst a solid mid and at best he could be a star.

A 3rd rounder or what the blues get for SPS will probably need to be added.

I think it'll be something like:

Freo Get: Pick 6 (which becomes 8), WCE 3rd Rounder, Mitch Mcgovern (Carlton paying half contract)
WCE Get: SPS
Carlton Get: Cerra, Freo Future 4th

Their 21 yo 3rd tall back behind May and Lever. That Petty. Playing his 30th game.

Guess our equivalent would be 21 yo Kelly who has played 2 games.

That is one of the closer comparisons of the list and Petty and Kelly are a mile apart as it stands

Last night made me think how far behind we are. They have a better ruck set up, better back line, much better midfield and forward line and significantly better youth. We are no where near Melbourne

You can't say Petty came behind a player he played alongside. Lever and petty played together. Petty did not replace Lever.

We nearly won a flag with a flanker Goldsack who had just recovered from a knee reco in the same season playing full back on the premier big man in the comp.

It's always the same song when a side wins a flag. I have seen far more dominant premiers who truly were a cut above any other side but I don't see Melbourne in thst category.
They played brilliant footy and it all came together in the finals.

For a team you are dismissing as way off the pace we have a remarkable record against the current league powerhouse in Richmond even though we have been devasted by injuries for years.

We have just had one of our least successful seasons and blooded 9 debutants yet only copped one hiding at the end of the season from hell both on and off the field.

If you truly believe we are miles away from being able to compete with Melbourne, the bulldogs , Port etc that's your prerogative, but I don't agree.

A fresh voice, game plan and an injection of three or four players and I think we will move up the ladder more quickly than it appears you do.

I don't rate Noble or the Madge.. they're depth at best. If someone made an offer for our depth.. I'd gamble on a pick 78 for the 2.. in the hope of finding a diamond in the rough. If it doesn't work out.. what exactly have we lost? We'll be ahead if we find that diamond in the rough.. if it doesn't work out.. we've pretty much broken even.
It would certainly be 'in the rough' at pick 78 FoR tHe PaIr Of ThEm! Hateful as they are, I think we have to keep them, but hope we never have to use them. They can be the barometer of how we are going. If they are in the best 22, we know the team is having a season to forget.

Agreed. The portfolios checks and balances fell with Walsh who skulked out of the limelight with his pseudo retirement. They had chances to off-load more than James Aish in 2019 with the Bombers into Cox big time. Similarly it made zero sense to carry Varcoe, Reid, Dunn, Scharenberg and Broomhead into 2020.
If the bombers took Cox, we possibly could have picked up Wright , McDonald or Brown

Bevo has lost a lot of players. This is something that doesn’t get a lot of attention but you have to wonder why a drought breaking premiership team had so much turnover.
He does seem quite stern sometimes (or, all the time). Hard to know what goes on behind closed doors

Interesting, wonder what could have caused such a rift. Roughy was reportedly vocal about issues with Buckley too.
I think Roughy might see through both of them. Eg, Seeing the hugs and care for each other message that both Bucks and Bevo delivered comes across as being not genuine, but a tool to help achieve success.

Yeah, I think he's good and think in excess of pick 6 is likely.

We want Lipinski and 2021 picks/points to use on Nick Daicos. Dogs need another ruckman. Surely there's a fairly easy deal to be struck here, along the lines of Max Lynch and our 2022 third rounder for Lipinksi and Dogs' 2021 third rounder? Seems win-win to me.

I think the Dogs also need points so it’s a bit complicated as both clubs are after free agency points. But Stefan Martin was a liability. Lynch would suit them well.

Yes, Martin and English is clearly not a Premiership worthy ruck combo. Lynch might not be either but his performance against Gawn this season was a hell of a lot better than what Martin and English delivered in the GF. So some sort of deal involving Lynch for Lipinski seems a very obvious move for both teams. Hopefully gets done early.

Pretty fair, although points complicated things. If we're lucky a few clubs have junk picks worth points they will give away for small price.

My view on that situation is they should be looking to move English on. He’s not good enough as a ruck or a forward for mine and someone would pay plenty for a former first round pick based on that alone, I’m sure Gold Coast would love him. Would give them plenty of points and excess for potentially Lynch.

But I’m not the dogs so hopefully they decide to go round again
