Will Brodie of any interest?
I don’t think we need midfielders.
We have adams, pendles, Degoey, Daicos, Macrae, bianco, reef, then also crisp and Maynard potentially. add Daicos this year.

I think we need KPP more than anything

vfl game says differently. Apart from Reef, we had no afl listed inside mids after Sier went down.

Thats why I said it'll be settled one way or another in less than 2 weeks.
You said it would be settled. That normally implies something else in a legal context.

Yes, but we aren’t winning anything next year. This is a 2 year rebuild minimum There’s no need rushing anything. I think people aren’t realising this isn’t a quick fix. We need to lower expectations. Next year we will have both Daicos. I mean a kid in the 23 year age would be handy, but we need KPP more. I see midfield depth. I don’t see KPP depth

Okay so out of our OOC players, here is how I'd approach it

keep
- D.Cameron (2 years)
- J.Ginnivan (2 years)
- J.Noble (2 years)
- J.Rantall (2 years)
- T.Ruscoe (2 years)
- S.Pendlebury (1-2 years)
- A.Tohill (1 year)
- C.Mayne (1 year)
- I.Chugg (1 year)
- J.Madgen (1 year)
- T.Wilson (1 year)

trade/delist
- B.Sier (50/50 to find a suitor. Would be hoping for a 3rd to 4th round pick)
- J.Thomas (Unlikely to find a suitor, I know he is currently best 22 but it is marginal. Free agent)
- M.Cox (unlikely to find a suitor. Any pick will do)
- M.Lynch (confident we could find a suitor. Would be hoping for a 3rd round pick, maybe a late second)

I would go into the period with guys like Grundy, Sidebottom, Maynard & De Goey where if the right offer comes, we could move them. Otherwise, we are in no rush to move any unless any of them request a trade.

The only players I would be asking questions about are Charlie Constable & Will Brodie. I wouldn't go for both, just whichever one we could get for the cheapest value. My preferance would be Brodie though.

As for the draft, Daicos, Dib and with a late pick, fill the need of a project tall defender (195cm+) or a readymade state league defender.

Thing is, I don't think the players you'd trade would get anything much at all.

From today's around the state leagues summary:

Also starring for the Eagles was youngster Jarrod Brander, who collected 33 touches and took 13 marks.

I still reckon we should getting right into his agent's ear about coming back to Victoria, as he's not getting a game over there. Might go well for us as a roaming CHF type?

Maybe work out something around a swap of Lynch for Brander - potentially fills a list need on both sides?

Hard to say.
We've got midfield depth if Reef, Macrae, Bianco, Daicos and Rantall make the midfield grade.
We've got kpp depth if Kelly, Tohill, McMahon and Keane make the grade.

Our young wannabe mids look more likely, but is that simply because young mids get to play on the flanks and go OK before they're ready for midfield. Or are they definitely more likely to become good AFL mids than our talls are to become good AFL talls?

Pouring money and resources into the 2018/19 tilt has made those players critical to the rebuild, we're pretty exposed if they don't come on and there's not many 1st rounders among em.

I used to think this, but is he playing his best footy as a KP or as a wingman?

If Clarko doesn’t go to GC, I’d be having a look at who might be available from their list at the end of 2022

From what i can tell they've pushed him into more of a wing / half forward role simply because they have Kennedy / Darling / Allen and a resting ruckman to rotate through the KPF spots.

Despite that he's still a very nice size for a KPP at 195cm / 92kg, he can take a grab and can obviously get on his bike which is why I'd look at him as more of a roaming CHF type.

I don’t know. They received picks in the 50s and 60s. The likelihood of getting a decent player is very low. I would have thought keeping those guys and their experience as some of the best leaders in the game would be more valuable for other kids coming through.
As I kid Inwould love to play alongside a Mitchell, Lewis or Hodge even is they had slowed down. I’m sure these ‘old’ blokes had a positive impact on the clubs they went to. It’s interesting clubs like Brisbane saw the value they could add to their young group and it was obviously successful to go back and pick up Birchall more recently.
You look at the Hawks and they look rudderless. The leaders who had to step up when their legends were moved on were very ordinary.

I think the hawks will be bouncing back soon. Played a good game on the weekend. Siciliy will be back next year aswell, along with more first round draft picks

I think they played well on the weekend, although the way the Lions turned it on in the last quarter it could have been a case of the impossible loss.
But I think Hawthorn has a bigger list issue than us and should be ahead in the rebuild. They have quite a number of 22 yr olds, while our team number % is very high with kids from the past 2 drafts and under 20. Give these kids another 2 years and, hopefully they continue to improve with experience and become alot better than bottom 2 or 3 like where the Hawks find themselves.

We'll have one of the best kids in the draft in 2021 and probably next year as well.

Bit of an anomaly though Saturday with Rantall the carry-over emergency, Pendles, Daicos, and the Brown boys all unavailable, Sier injured in-game. Then becomes Reef +6 as options.
