I'm confident Wright wont do a Ned Guy and get screwed over.
In fairness to Ned, he was trying to sell/trade items that obviously were not in high demand.
It was a buyers market. Even The Donald would have been screwed over.
They weren’t exactly lining up with offers.
Treloar had the salary anvil & Peterson some other invisible anvil.

Another trade war looming for Dogs, Pies
Patrick Lipinski has told the Western Bulldogs he wants to be traded to Collingwood in a deal that will see Luke Beveridge’s side dig in its heels over his trade value.

The 23-year-old is keen for more opportunities after being overlooked for the entire second half of the season.

From Round 11 onwards, he played only 51 minutes of football as the Round 16 sub, unused in his only other clash in the same role in Round 20.

But the Dogs’ three-year offer, which he will ignore to get to Collingwood, made clear to him that they believe he has a bright future.

Both clubs locked horns over how much the Pies were to pay of Adam Treloar’s contract this year and their views on what Lipinski is worth could be some way apart.

The Dogs and Pies have father-son priorities and need to bring in more points so the Dogs might prefer to receive a selection in this year’s draft.

Collingwood will go into points deficit in its bid to bring in Nick Daicos so would be more likely to offer a late future draft pick.

Lipinski indicated to the Dogs that he was keen to get to a club where he could play regular senior footy after being used as a wing and not an inside midfielder in 2021.

The No.28 selection in the 2016 national draft will be a ready-made strong-bodied midfielder for the Pies as they fast-track a young on-ball brigade next year.

It looks like it’s coming together on acquiring him. One point from me on it now that he’s announced he’s leaving is that I hope we play him on the inside. That’s where he’s shown the most and it’s where I think he can have the biggest impact.

Expect this year's edition to be much more boring than last year's...

27/08/2021: Graham Wright tells 3AW Sportsday that Brayden Maynard and his management have shown no signs of him wanting to go anywhere. Wright explained that Mason Cox had not yet been offered a new contract, but no players had yet been delisted.

Wright, when asked about Sam Weideman from the Melbourne Demons, described the out-of-contract Weideman as a talented young forward, explained that Collingwood are naturally interested in anyone who’s out of contract that can help your football club.

Wright continued by stating that “We’d like another midfielder, we’d like a couple of small forwards and potentially a couple of key forwards, so we’ve got a lot of spots that we would like to potentially fill.

“We’ll have to be smart with our decision making and see what we can land through the trade period, but also through the draft.”

01/09/2021: Craig McRae is announced as the new Senior Football Coach.

03/09/2021: The Herald Sun report that Patrick Lipinski has played his last game for the Western Bulldogs, and is set to nominate either Carlton or Collingwood.

13/09/2021: Justin Leppitsch is announced as the new Head of Strategy. Brendan Bolton is announced as the Director of Coaching.

14/09/2021: Tom Morris (Fox Footy) reported that Dylan Stephens is currently 50-50 as to whether he stays at the Sydney Swans or requests a trade to Collingwood.

17/09/2021: The Sydney Swans announced that they have re-signed Dylan Stephens.

21/09/2021: Tom Morris (Fox Footy) reported via SEN’s Whateley that Collingwood are now prepared to offer Scott Pendlebury a two-year deal, which is what he wanted.

21/09/2021: Peter Ryan (The Age) reported that "Geelong's Nathan Kreuger on the move, Pies likely destination."

Jon Ralph (Herald Sun) later reported that Nathan Kreuger is expected to join Collingwood on a three-year deal after requesting a trade from the Cats.

22/09/2021: Tom Morris (Fox Footy) reported that there still hasn't been any word on Brayden Sier. “I haven’t been told he’s going to go, so the status quo is he’ll be at the Pies next year.”

28/09/2021: By Peter Ryan and Jon Pierik (The Age) report that Patrick Lipinski has told the club he wants a trade, with Collingwood shaping as his likely destination.

28/09/2021: The Western Bulldogs announce that Patrick Lipinski has informed the Club of his request to be traded to the Collingwood Football Club.

Don’t mention the enemy of democracy in this forum please. He is evil.

So the Dogs have come out with the usual "our preference is to keep him" story despite not selecting him for the second half of the year.

No doubt both clubs will sit on the trade until the last few days so that it looks like WBD have at least tried to get maximum value at the table.

But I expect we'll still get him for SFA.

I’d say our next years pick will fall between 5-9, but hopefully higher😂

I just think if we were to do it and have pick 9 we get a player 12 months earlier than next year. This puts last years big block of recruits with Daicos + Pick 9 this year adding Lipinski to build in 2022. Better to have a pick 9 this year under Pendles and Sidey than waiting for a pick 5-9 next year.
Personally, I'm not too worried about the year earlier as I think it's going to be a long re-build, but if they think there's a bloke available whose likely to be a better bet than who they'd have access to next year, why wouldn't you do it?

It will be pick 12, but you can wait until that pick and know who you can draft, so it's an actual Player before you trade.

And perhaps St K, if wanting our first for Ben King, may give us more than just that pick in the deal.

How's it pick 12?

1. Daicos
2. Darcy
3 (1). JHF
...
11 (9) STK

Done.

Question for the draft experts here. What is the talent like in next years draft ? Obviously with 2 years of under age disruptions, there may be less scouting of potential talent
than previous years.
Reason I ask is that due to talk of whether we consider trading next years first for something this year, after Daicos has been completed, would surely depend on the strength of next years crop.

How about a early pick at the PSD then?

I keep reading this “3 year offer from the Dogs” line, but the media never seem to follow up with @ $150k pa! Because you know if the money was ok then he’s staying. As a tactic in trial by media they’re playing chess when everyone else are playing checkers. Ultimately though the agent knows what has and hasn’t been offered to his client and I suspect that unplugged will be on the money in so far as the end result fizzling.

Given the Treloar situation, the Dogs can get stuffed if they wanna play hardball on a mI’d that hasn’t been able to get a consistent game for a year

They'll posture for a bit before doing the deal. Its all about Pat really. If he wants to play for Collingwood, he will.
