I think Lynch is looking at his options, but the club want him to stay.

Bizarrely enough I agree which means I don’t think we want to retain Cox hence the party line on him is that we’ll see how things look post trade period!

It makes zero sense to keep him on the books given the current state of play where Grundy has 6 years to run and we need draft points. Unless we’d prefer to move him under contract ala Port and Ladhams.

The one I’m struggling to get a read on is Sier.

Do we retain Lynch or not. We're certainly not saying he's welcome and he won't be playing more unless Grundy goes down. We're not trading Grundy and have got a plethora of rucks. But who wants him? Do the Dogs? Is that our bartering chip for Lipinski? It suits. Does he move to Hawthron? Ah, wait, they want draft picks per trade radio.

Sier is gone. Lipinski comes in, he's out.

Listening to GW talk about Sier, sounds like he is gone. The comment from Wrighty about Sier being at the club for 5 years, and still unable to nail a spot in the side, would make me concerned if l was young Brayden....

So does North take JHF #1?

There's arguments both ways but do they? Do they really?

Where does Daics slide to if they dont?

GWS bid on Darcy then Daicos to prevent the Doggy monopoly from occurring?

Tbh whatever way you look at it, it’s still a nightmare especially if Horne Francis gets the number 1 pick. I have no issues with what the club did, but the end result has potential to be a huge nightmare.

McInnes was going to come regardless and it’s probably not arguable that Poulter would be better than pick 2 this year. The other aspect is, even if we didn’t trade it and we still had it currently and a bid comes for Daicos at pick 1, if we trade pick 2 on draft night, I’m tipping we get a better return than what we got last year as well.

The club didn’t do anything wrong, the cards haven’t fallen to support it though.
I disagree. If we had pick 2, North would definately bid, of that I'm sure.
Yes we could trade it out, but then you're in the same boat as last year, where we got Poulter and satisfied the McInnes bid.

Well if Cox and Lynch go, it leaves us Grundy, Cameron and Begg as ruck options, and Begg is a couple of years in development. I would retain Lynch, and unfortunately farewell Coxy.

For me the point here is our last 6 drafts. We have 3 picks , 13 Quaynor, 17 Henry and 19 McCrae from the last 6 drafts. Add Daics this year. Just highlights to me the need to keep our high end picks through the next few drafts unless we can trade them for established high end talents.

Individually there are no guarantees but top 10 picks especially have a much higher chance of landing a high end player

We've got a big whole in our list age wise. Our blokes are going to have to do a bloody good job of filling it, for us to not fall into big trouble in a few years but in terms of top 20 picks on our list, at the end of the year, we're be comparable to that Cats great team in terms of top picks:

2? - Daicos
4 - WHE
5 JDG
5 Pendles
13 Quaynor
13? - Adams
17 Henry
18 Grundy
19 Macrae

We could be even better if we decided to retain Aish, Shaz, Stepho and Treloar.

Most teams would have as many or more than that great Cats team had. Having them good at the same time, having other guns selected in different ranges and having had hits all through the draft is the difference. We're going to have to pedal fast and have a lot of luck so that the age gap you're talking about doesn't hit hard

Moore at 10 in '14, too.

I still don't see why Grundy and Lynch can't co-exist in the same 22. Neither are slow, lumbering types (your Shane Mumford's for example) and it would free us up to use Grundy more creatively, whether that's sitting him behind the play like Gawn does, using him as a pillar inside the goal square or even using his size and running power around the ground as a target down the line. Lynch is an ok ruckman at this stage (imo he's not as good/bad as some on here say), and at only 23 he'll continue to improve.

Like many I think we need to get more out of Grundy given how much he's costing us, and using him in various roles (alongside his ruck work) would be a good way to do so.

Very possible North just go with JHF, especially after his performance. IF they do.. then Nick could very well slide to #3, because GWS have been on record in saying they if they bid, they'd bid on Darcy first.
If GWS dont bid at all, then GC is where you can expect a bid at #4

It's because Lynch isn't a forward and neither is Grundy AND we have Darcy Cameron. Darcy doesn't have to ruck but he's too good at it not to. It's a waste of a position if we have three rucks running about. We could trade Grundy and solve a lot of problems but it wouldn't be a great look.

I don't not believe you but do you or anyone else have a link of that. I've heard it mentioned but I just want to see where it is.

Richmond is meant to be swooping for GC's #4 as well.

Herald Sun saying Giants might bid on Mac Andrew at pick 2. That could certainly help the pies out
I'm still hoping Daiscos goes 1 - I want other teams to know we have the first pick

However, there is a real chance that he slides to pick 4 after JHF/Mac/Darcy

7th in line... or more likely first drop once Cameron misses a game? Are we then gonna bring in Kelly as a ruck forward or begin using Mihocek, Krueger or Roughead in that role. Maybe Beeg?

Cameron goes down... if Cox is still in the list and fit.. then he comes in as ruck forward
Can we get Begg's name right please

google Beeg and see where the first link takes you...

That was my first instinct as well. I couldn’t help wondering though whether it was possibly a rocket as well? Because it wasn’t exactly selling him to suitors. One things for certain without saying anything he could be held to on the 4 players that came up (Cox, Sier, Lipinski and Kreuger) he offered infinitely more than we ever got from Walsh.

Jeremy Finlayson available. 25 years old. Averaging 4.5 marks and 1.3 goals per game. Start the Welcome thread TD.

It was in one of the episodes of road to the draft --

Yep that's where I heard it too. From memory (without going back and listening to it again) it wasn't a definitive that they would take Darcy first but when pushed I think he conceded that Darcy would fit their list better so they would probably go there first.
