What's the deal with bidding for Moore all that would do is piss off the pies and he doesn't want to play got us
Pies will take him anyway, so it's just to make sure they take him with their first.

Wow alot of talk about us upgrading our pick on the draft board, no way we give up Hrovrat and #6 for #3 that's just ridiculous. Is it confirmed Melb are getting pick #3 for Frawley? last i heard Hawks were offering him 450k but haven't kept up over the last three or four days, If that's the case that would be band 2 not 1.
$600 000 over 4 years was the amount reported in the media.

Reported in the Hun 5 years at $600'000 to the Hawks that's 3 million just on the tipping point for pick 3 but still could end being end of first round we will find out monday.

Yup, reckon 600k over 4 will be pick 19 but 600k over 5 will be pick 3.
Ah well here's hoping for 600k over 4 years!

I reckon Melb should get 19 at best. There is no way Frawley is worth 3.
The fact that Melbourne might get pick 3 for James Frawley, and Hawks got pick 20? was it? For Buddy Franklin is ridiculous. The system needs fixing.

If the club has identified Wright as a must-have player, then we should do it. If they are only looking for a way to appease the fans and media, I say hold firm and take pick 5 or 6 to the draft.

If one was to think in a really Machiavellian manner, could we be trying to get pick 2 or 3 to satisfy Essendon for Carlisle?
Already said this, could be, but think they must know the guy we want wont reach 5/6. Got to speculate to accumulate players like Carlisle but next year looks the time to do it.

No way will Frawley be worth pick 3. Dead set, there'd be a riot at AFL house with every other club President forcing the AFL to overhaul free agency. It just won't happen.

He does look like a good selection at our pick though (assuming the order that most people are predicting) so why wouldn't we go for a highly rated KPF? If the only disadvantage is pissing off the Pies then that shouldn't be a factor in our consideration.

Thems the rulea though.

Good ol' Machiavelli. My information is it's possible but then, as we all know, many posts prefaced with "my information" are from posters with less than zero credibility and ain't worth jack sh*t.

I'm thinking our best option might be to just hold pick 5/6 as it will cost to much to upgrade to 2/3.

But upgrading from 26 to 20'ish is probably not too hard, which would give us a very good chance at McKenzie if we miss out on Wright or McCartin. In that case we likely get Durdin or Lever plus McKenzie :thumbsu:

You are correct in saying he's not worth pick 3 but IMO you are wrong when you say Melb won't get it.. Melbourne is virtually run by the AFL these days (Roos appointment, financial relief, not paying fines, being 'cleared' of tanking etc etc). This is the perfect opportunity to give them another leg up.

Melbourne getting pick 3 gives us a better opportunity of trading up if we really believe we need to.

They are more likely to accept picks 6 & 26 to for 3 still having 2 to use or trade giving an exrtra pick in the top 30, than trading 2 for 5 and anything else. Them getting 3 brings picks on the table, not getting 3 means players

Even if we got moore
After two years he will want to be traded to pies

Moore is worth a top 5 picks, Collingwood are going to take him no matter who nominates him. I can't believe people are worried about this.

Agreed, and do we really want Collingwood to end up with pick 4, 8 or 9 and a top 5 draftee? Blasphemy!

Ok here is a possible play.

Pick 5 or 6 to Port for picks 16 and 35. Port trade pick 5 or 6 to Essendon for Ryder and in exchange for Essendon's pick 19. Port pass on that pick to us. We end up with picks 16,19 and 35 for pick 5.......We should get Mckenzie and another Mid....Langford maybe if he slips a little in the first round.

We give the Blues Jones and 35 for their pick 27.

So we have 16,19,25,26,27,42 (not allowing for movement in draft order due to FA). 42 is there to grab the ZCord.

We then go to the draft and get Langford, McKenzie, Menadue, Cockortwo, Keitel, Cordy.

Langford is Bontesk 190cm rangy mid who can play anywhere, reportedly is lacking the contested elements that the Bont has...but they said the same things about the Bont at one stage.

McKenzie is a big bodied genuine FF and for mine is the not far off Wright or McCartin.

Menadue and Cockatoo are explosive mids, Keitel looks the best credentialed KP defender/forward available in the second round.

Risks.....we miss on McCartin or Wright or another highly touted top 10.

Reward....we don't have all our first round eggs in one basket. We address more needs with 2 KP players and Cords as 3 tall and add some x factor speed.

This is crazy enough, it might just work!

How can we discuss giving collingwood anything. Granted there are other teams less deserving but collingwood?!?!?

Just that Hine has not Commitied to him before Hand.

Though he I say he is Playing Funny Buggers and not tipping our Hand before the Father/Son Bidding Happens

He is either pick 2 or 3 in an uncompromised draft depending on whether you rate petracca above him. Would be crazy to not nominate.... If we get him we have 2 years to get him dogified and signed up longer term
